Cowboys growing concerned about Kellen Moore as No. 2 quarterback

The Dallas Cowboys are finally realizing that which many have known for months: Kellen Moore may not be the ideal understudy to Dak Prescott at quarterback.

Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, citing an unnamed source, that Moore “will be the subject of conversation at personnel meetings this week” after another subpar preseason performance.

“I’m just glad to see Rush taking advantage of his opportunities out there,” owner Jerry Jones said, via Hill. “Wouldn’t want to get ahead of ourselves in any way here. And the other thing is that we still have a lot of confidence in [Moore], his ability to be able to get in there when we would call on him with the personnel around him and get the ball in the right places. Make no mistake about it, that Rush, it just gets slow when he gets out there. That’s a compliment.”

Ive honestly never seen a FO worse at analyzing QB's and miraculously finding great QB's as FA's or later in the draft. Makes no sense really. Seems like luck, but then how can you call it luck?

Click bait nonsense from Hill's article intended to get our hopes up.

No, Linehan will not quit Moore.

Moore has Linehan's class ring on his finger and wears his letterman jacket on Fridays.
When you're right, you're right. And let's face it! You're right.

Moore's value is really as another coach to Dak. If he is in fact practice squad eligible, stash him on the practice squad. That way he can continue to mentor Dak, continue to practice and be called up in case of emergency.

With Moore failing to make an impression in the first few weeks of the NFL preseason, the Cowboys brass appears to be considering making a change on the depth chart, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Considering the largely unproven Moore has been given the backup job behind starter Dak Prescott it is a cause for concern — enough for a source to say that he will be the subject of conversation at personnel meetings this week.

As Hill points out, Moore has done little to secure the backup job behind Prescott for the upcoming regular season with another poor showing on Saturday.

Intended leak to light a fire in Moore? I think they're unofficially putting him on notice. He has not performed well enough to be a #2, or a #3 for that matter.
