Water is wet, the Pope is Catholic, you should never jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, and Cooper Rush is a better backup QB than Kellen Moore.
There's gotta be more to it than that my friend, as it's my understanding he's highly competitive (or used to be in a prior life) now either he's running on the double negative side with the team chemistry,,,and they wouldn't throw him over their shoulders unless it was to throw him over the ships railing in a hurricane or he's flat out terrified of pulling the trigger and shooting the team in the foot(thusly tarnishing his current #2 posting) which explains his flat/lost looking nothing since the positive showing against the cards HoF opener,, I watched that colts strip and TD return enough to see he had a couple of quick hits on his right flank,,, but the lefty that he is, stayed locked on to his primary target on the left side in tunnel vision so tight he's oblivious to the dude knocking the ball out of his handsMoore is done in Dallas. He isn't even competitive.
Growing concerned???Cowboys growing concerned about Kellen Moore as No. 2 quarterback
The Dallas Cowboys are finally realizing that which many have known for months: Kellen Moore may not be the ideal understudy to Dak Prescott at quarterback.
Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, citing an unnamed source, that Moore “will be the subject of conversation at personnel meetings this week” after another subpar preseason performance.
“I’m just glad to see Rush taking advantage of his opportunities out there,” owner Jerry Jones said, via Hill. “Wouldn’t want to get ahead of ourselves in any way here. And the other thing is that we still have a lot of confidence in [Moore], his ability to be able to get in there when we would call on him with the personnel around him and get the ball in the right places. Make no mistake about it, that Rush, it just gets slow when he gets out there. That’s a compliment.”

Has anyone actually seen Floaty and Kellen in the same place, at the same time?
How can you call it luck? Moore breaking his leg last year. That's how. Had he not got injured, this coaching staff would have started Moore over Dak and we wouldn't have gotten to see how good Dak was last year.
No way the Cowboys go with Rush as their backup....not yet.
Moore has played against the opponent's starters and rotation players, often without his own starters on the line and at receiver. Rush has been playing vs. scrubs who won't even make their rosters. Two preseason games remaining; they need to flip the script at least once to see Rush vs. real NFL competition and Moore vs. the scrubs.
What Rush is doing is making the Cowboys want to carry 3 QBs. It's easy to say, keep Rush as the backup because if Dak is lost to injury the season is over anyway, but that's the extreme situation. What if Dak goes out in the second half of a tight game with a concussion or ankle...maybe then the veteran with a noodle arm is still your best bet to make all the right decisions and put the ball in the hands of playmakers, read the blitzes, etc.
Unless Rush is another Dak as a rookie, we need a veteran backup, either Moore or a final cut addition. You just don't want to throw a rookie out there in tight divisional games when you need a cool head with experience to make decisions that help avoid "losing" the game. Unless he regresses, I think Rush makes the 53 as an inactive on game day.

Ridiculous. The fact is that Rush has simply done more with less. Don't talk about the quality of players that that Moore has played with vs Rush as if it's any sort of negative. If anyone has had the advantage there, it's been Moore. Moore has played with a lot more of the starters than Rush has.
That's the thing, he can "make all the right decisions" he wants, what he can't do is "put the ball in the hands of playmakers". Knowing where to go with the football and being capable of getting it there are two entirely different things.
There's a night and day difference between Rush's performance and Moore's. And I remember a rookie that was forced to start in games early in in this offense, and he did OK.
Rush is so much better, even at this stage, thats it completely obvious. To come in, as a rookie, with little time in the system, and do what he is doing is incredible. This guy could literally be another Prescott type find. They HAVE to keep Rush. Whether they keep Moore or not I could care less. Personally, I would cut him.
As I mentioned earlier, I think the best approach right now is to have Rush get the 2nd unit snaps and see how he does. Just based on number clearly Rush is out performing Moore so have them swapping snaps this coming game. Rush takes 2nd unit snaps and Moore 3rd string snaps.
While I very much like your idea, I don't think that there is much chance that this organization would have the courage to do it. They're too concerned with appearances and what a bold move like that would look like.
What I do expect will happen is that Rush will get that last game to himself, starting and finishing, and he could very well cement himself as a viable backup option based off of that performance.
But as I've said before, I've seen enough to make the call. I'd keep Rush and have 'the talk' with Kellen Moore. "You're valued and repescted by this organization and we want to keep you around, but we'd like that to be in a coaching role, with a possibility we would call on you if injury were to strike."
If he balks? Oh well, we tried. He's certainly not going to be claimed or signed anywhere else.
They may not, I don't know. However when guys like Dak and Witten are singing the praises of Rush then it is more than just fans. Garrett too likes what he has seen thus far in Rush. I don't think the Cowboys will put him out on waivers. We will see. As for my idea I think it would remove more doubt to let him see action vs tougher competition to see how he reacts and how he fairs.
I'm right there with you, believe me.
Maybe it's just me, but I thought Garrett looked visibly upset with Moore's performance Saturday night, as if he's running out of patience with both Moore and his #1 cheerleader.
