News: PFT: Dak Prescott nearly set NFL record, and no one noticed

You have to run a ton of plays to get that number especially with running back getting 20 plus carries.
Yea, and?

Dak threw the ball 54 times. There are a lot of QBs in the league would have 40+ completions against that secondary.

And yet due to "brilliant" play-calling by our OC (especially in the red-zone), the final score of the game doesn't accurately reflect the numbers.

While everyone was busy last week talking about Patrick Mahomes' no-look passes and Ryan Tannehill's last pass to beat the Patriots, Dak Prescott's near-NFL record went unnoticed....

I like the tone of it. He wasn't trying to pad his stats - said he recognized what was necessary to win. Even more, I like that he said he feels more comfortable and is starting to trust what he sees. That shows awareness and motivation. If the Cowboys are intent on making him a franchise QB, bring on a new QB coach to develop his skills and an OC to create an offense around our talent.

I mean who notices anything when the cowboys do good. The true test seems to come against a middle of the pack team after beating the hottest team in the league a couple weeks back!

I wonder if Gruden will trade us Carr for Prescott straight up? - I'm guessing no since Prescott is far superior..

:lmao2:

True does not fit the narrative they put forth. There were some poor plays and I have watched this game long enough to know there are a lot of QB had they made mistakes as Dak did they would not have recovered from it. I was very proud of how Dak stayed in the moment and made some very big plays for his team instead of sitting on the bench hanging his head.
:hammer:He keeps his head in the game and not in his hands.

That is always a big trait in my eyes. Fact is games do not always go as planned and teams and QB will make critical mistakes, but you got to play through it and keep your head in the game. You shake it off and move forward. There is nothing you can do to unchanged what just happened you can control what is about to happen.

Since he broke Romo's record. If you compare both careers sided by side, Romo doesn't start a game until the middle of next year.

Exactly. Once the narrative has been defined, it becomes the total story. They did the same crap with Romo. The fact that he was criticized for wearing his hat backwards or a trip to Cabo was the reason we lost despite poor defense and a receiver quit on a route that would have one the game. Don’t forget playing golf in the offseason was the reason he never got us to the SB. The media and fan base have a a way of taking few things and turning it into the definitive story on someone.

“Just a whole lot more comfortable,” Prescott said. “It’s as simple as that. Trusting everything that I am seeing. If I see it, I like it, letting it rip, not hesitating on anything. That is something I put in my head earlier in the season when I realized I wasn’t as comfortable as I wanted to be. Just trying to get back to that. It started in practice.”

That is what I want to see, it does not happen by accident it starts in practice. Dak had some poor throws none more poorly than the over throw of Gallup and of course his 2 fumbles. Those things can't be overlooked but when he was put in the situation of having to air it out he did so and a very good clip. Dak is not some idiot or gimp he is capable of improving and as long as he continues to work and focus on improving himself as a QB he gives himself a chance for success.

Yeah that is the attitude he needs. Letting it rip only cost him one interception which is pretty good for 54 attempts. The second int was not because he read something wrong - it was just bad mechanics. I am all for him letting it rip. He did have 2 attempts at Amari that pretty much hit the defender in the back, so he did not quite expect the coverage they gave him though. Needs to be a bit more careful there.

The final score was the effect of the turnovers and missed deep passes. Dak played a good game but his turnovers gave Philly 9 and 1 turnover cost us 7 and the missed deep wide open cost us 7. When it was 23-23 it very easily could have been 37-14

“It started in practice.

I mean, listen, we're talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about practice. Not a game.
But we're talking about practice man. What are we talking about? Practice? We're talking about practice, man.
We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We ain't talking about the game. We're talking about practice, man.

True but the one that hit the CB in the back was because he let rip before the break not waiting until Cooper broke back for it. However you will hit a lot more big plays by letting it go before the WR makes his break than you will by holding on to it until after the break, not to mention by waiting you also give the CB to come out of his break.

I'm waiting for the guy to explain why Romo "should have" had 58 completions in a particular game if it wasn't for .........

Because practice is where it starts. I think some tend to think guys stand around all week doing nothing, it is the work you put in ahead of the game that makes a difference in the game.
