News: PFT: Dak Prescott nearly set NFL record, and no one noticed

True does not fit the narrative they put forth. There were some poor plays and I have watched this game long enough to know there are a lot of QB had they made mistakes as Dak did they would not a have recovered from it. I was very proud of how Dak stayed in the moment and made some very big plays for his team instead of sitting on the bench hanging his head.

:clap:His mental toughness to bounce back from everything that went wrong ( most his own doing) has gotten lost in the turnover chit-chat.

I am only concerned with one NFL records - SB wins....let's knock that one out (tie) in February

Heck it is a trait Romo showed that I loved. Tony would throw an int but never let him stop him from going out and making plays. You can't play scared and afraid to step up and make plays. If you fail you fail but you always go down swinging

From the article...

While Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys defense have gotten most of the credit during the Cowboys’ five-game winning streak, Prescott quietly has played MVP-esque. His 75.1 completion percentage over the past five weeks leads the league, and he has passed for 1,471 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions for a passer rating of 106.8.

“Just a whole lot more comfortable,” Prescott said. “It’s as simple as that. Trusting everything that I am seeing. If I see it, I like it, letting it rip, not hesitating on anything. That is something I put in my head earlier in the season when I realized I wasn’t as comfortable as I wanted to be. Just trying to get back to that. It started in practice.”

While everyone was busy last week talking about Patrick Mahomes' no-look passes and Ryan Tannehill's last pass to beat the Patriots, Dak Prescott's near-NFL record went unnoticed....

It really was kind of surreal. When I saw his final passing numbers, it didn't seem to fit the game because Elliott had a season-high 28 carries. Plus, there were a few big plays, but we didn't seem to be generating that much offense otherwise.

I guess, it's usually a shootout when your quarterback completes 42 passes, but this one didn't feel like a shootout until that final quarter and overtime.

The final score was the effect of the turnovers and missed deep passes. Dak played a good game but his turnovers gave Philly 9 and 1 turnover cost us 7 and the missed deep wide open cost us 7. When it was 23-23 it very easily could have been 37-14

The turnovers might not have been what they were had the playcalling been modernized and less predictable.

That is what I want to see, it does not happen by accident it starts in practice. Dak had some poor throws none more poorly than the over throw of Gallup and of course his 2 fumbles. Those things can't be overlooked but when he was put in the situation of having to air it out he did so and a very good clip. Dak is not some idiot or gimp he is capable of improving and as long as he continues to work and focus on improving himself as a QB he gives himself a chance for success.
I once said that Dak scores how many he has too. People kept saying, he can't score 40 or whatever it was Kansas City was putting up, and I said, if he had to he would. I'm glad that the coaching staff is standing behind this kid instead of berating the kid, he's finally got something to work with and you can tell he's getting better every week.

You can't expect a ball-control offense to look like a Jared Goff or a Drew Brees offense. We are a run the ball, then get 5 yards here, 3 yards there, and slowly move the ball down the field, type of offense.

 me waiting on the "only for ten yards an attempt" crowd. :muttley:

Prescott’s 42 completions bettered Tony Romo’s team record of 41 completions against the Giants on Dec. 6, 2009

Not a lot of dinking and dunking either. Another wasted attempt to discredit the guy.

BS. I am a “Dak backer” but he’s just making this up. Most of his poor throws are because he waits too long to make the throw. A lot of his sacks are for the same reason.

I want to believe this. Hopefully some day soon it’ll actually be true.

On the overthrow Gallup was wide open. On the one to Cooper it was a good defensive play. Neither of those had anything to do with playcalling

Playcalling is just a scapegoat!

Not true. Linehan's route combos are very very basic. He runs the same ones over and over, hence why our wrs are covered.
