PFT: Ezekiel Elliott aiming for Eric Dickerson’s rookie rushing record

Emmitt had set a goal his rookie year to become the all time leading rusher. I get it some have issue with it but Zeke is who he is, he talks and thus far has backed it up with his play. I don't want guys acting like someone else be yourself and go out and do the job. Fans are the one who do a lot of lip smacking yet do not play the game yet want to dictate to the players.

He hasn't back anything up yet......preseason doesn't count....

Cant stand this country club "score and hand the ball to the refs" aura so many in this fanbase want for these players. Idc if Zeke was joking or not, i'm all for it, rumble young man rumble.
You didn't like Barry Sanders?

The 90's Cowboys set team goals, winning Super Bowls, not personal title's..

I don't know this but I would bet they had a goal to win the rushing title for Emmitt every year.

Btw, I've also heard Zeke criticized for not coming out and telling people what his goals were and that he didn't seem goal oriented.

He has backup his comment over the years as a player, he was not shy during his college career and is not going to be shy now. I guess some fans have a problem but then it is their problem not his. He is being who he is, he is brash and confident in his ability. Again people holler about this team has no swagger to it and yet when a player shows some swagger all of a sudden some of our fans can't deal with it. Who cares how some feel, you can't please everyone right

This is about a non issue as you can get. Who cares what he said? Think all of the D's now have made him enemy #1 because he set that as a goal or will they just try to be getting him on the ground because he's got the ball.

He's a very young man and sometimes he says things he regrets, remember his comments about the coaching at Ohio State after that loss? And does anyone know how he meant this since it went to Dickerson from another channel?

Talk about setting the bar low. That would be an utter disappointment for me for a 16 game season.

Last year it would have been more yards than all but two Rbs and tied for 4th most TDs among RBs. Don't see how that is setting the bar low, maybe the yardage, but I expect Morris to get more carries than most think.

I agree. Bring it on. As long as he backs it up I don't care what any of the Cowboys say.

It's not that tall of an order. It really comes down to him being healthy and getting the carries. Murray had something like 10 or 12 straight 100 yard games.

His record snapped with a 79 yard game.

Elliott is better than Murray and even more consistent.

If he stays healthy and gets his carries, I don't think it'll be impossible for him to do 1800. 112.5 yards per game. A couple 200 yard games will really help him. Even Murray didn't do that. 179 and 167 at best.

You must have not liked Emmitt

Emmitt always had goals and wasn't afraid to talk about them - and he wasn't joking around like Zeke is. The difference is that the media then was not remotely the same as it is now. Nobody was running around trying to generate clicks from every quote they could edit.

I don't think they will give him enough carries. They are well aware of the limited career span for most RBs and won't want to over use him considering their other options.
Where is Demarco these days?

Barry Sanders just handed the ball to the refs when he scored a TD. No over-celebrating.

He is a top 5 all time RB (some say he is #1).

Some are idiots. No way was Barry Sanders the number 1 RB of all time. He couldn't get third and 1 to save his life, he was mediocre at best in pass protection, he'd take the 3 yard loss multiple times just to break the 55 yard TD. In short, he was a drive killer. The only people who would put him at #1 are people who get their sports information from ESPN highlight clips.

That is another topic altogether. I do agree he had shortcomings that Emmitt didn't have.

The point in this thread is that he is a hall-of-famer and was a minimal celebrator.

He spent less time in his entire career celebrating than Jesse Holley spent celebrating his 1 TD.
