Elliott needs to talk less.

I don't understand why athletes can't have an inner confidence while remaining humble on the outside anymore. If he thinks he can break the record, great. But why blab it to the world?

It only makes you look conceited. And, if you fail, foolish.

I like it. It shows confidence.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, all guys playing football don't have confidence. Many don't believe they have what it takes to reach the upper echelon. I can remember what Michael Irvin says, and I paraphrase, "Not everyone wants the ball in crunch time. You know the guys who want to shoulder the responsibility when the game is on the line and the guys who 'hide' because they don't want to make a mistake, don't want to be the center of attention."

You want guys who have that "it" quality. And I like it when guys know they're good. You have to have that confidence in arenas like sports and, particularly, football.

Having said that, if Romo had played the full year, I think he would get the record. But seeing eight-men fronts because of Dak, I don't think he gets the record.

“Eighteen hundred yards. We joke about it all the time. I told him I’m going to get it,” Elliott said, via ESPN.

Dickerson confirmed that’s what Elliott told him.

“He told me through his agent that he was going to break my record,” Dickerson said this week. “I just laughed and said, ‘Good luck.’ Many have said that; all have failed. I like the record because you get one shot at it and that’s it, because you’re a rookie one time. You don’t get three or four shots at that record. ‘Oh, let me do it again.’ Nah.”

That’s an extremely tall order, a goal that Elliott is unlikely to achieve. But it’s nice to see a rookie with lofty ambitions. The Cowboys like Elliott’s confidence.

More importantly, I read Elliott said winning is more important than rushing records. Funny, I don't see anyone quoting him on that.

He better be good against 8 in the box because that's what he'll see until #9 returns. Unless Dak can make them pay.

Team with the best run OL in the game spends 4th on a RB, think they know what we want to do?

He has a better shot at the all purpose yards as a rookie than rushing because getting the ball into his hands in the flat and on the outside could get that 8th man out of the box.

You can have confidence without the blabbing.

Peyton Manning was a pretty confident guy. Second to no one. But when he was approaching Johnny Unitas' team records with the Colts, he was uncomfortable talking about it.

Manning had "it". He knew he was good. He just preferred to keep his confidence within himself. And within the team structure. His confidence wasn't "hidden". It was just manifested in a different way. I would say it worked pretty well.

I couldnt care less about that record, and neither should he.

He's not getting it. Dallas won't give him more than 300 carries, so he'd better take several 80 yards.

And you can have confidence and share it. :)

As for Peyton Manning, when he told the Colts "If you don't pick me, I'm going to kick your butts my entire career" (or something to that effect) was that "blabbing"? :)

Reminder.
The Rams were with Chuck Knox back then - Ground Chuck.

Their offense revolved around running the ball.

Yep.

But over the course of his pro career, his attitude changed as he matured as a person. Maybe Zeke will too. Maybe not.

It's not a huge deal. Just a personal preference.

Zeke made a comment to his agent which in turn told Eirc Dickerson who then told the media, and Zeke needs to tone it down?? What I miss???

People are sensitive and want to get mad. It's just how people are now days.

Media loves to tell them it's ok to be so sensitive but the media just does it to get a reaction about their story.

Fair enough.

It's not my style either. But I've come to understand it more even if I wouldn't do it myself. So I know where you're coming from on a personal level. :)

I don't think he "needs" to talk less. But he does "need" to be prepared to back his talk up. That's like saying in hindsight Muhammad Ali shouldn't have talked so much. But had he not talked he would not be the revered athlete he is today.

I prefer an inner, quiet confidence without the flapping of gums. Just break the record without the yapping.
He's was asked the question by the media in the locker room. His actual answer was he knows the record and doesn't care as long as they win ball games. So please. Stop.

I don't think they will give him enough carries. They are well aware of the limited career span for most RBs and won't want to over use him considering their other options.
He only needs 100 carries or so........aka the new Buehler

If he stays healthy and gets close to 400 carries like Murray, I think he can definitely break the record and at least have a 50/50 shot at it. Skill, offfense, line he already has covered. Now its just a matter of health and rushing attempts.
