PFT: Ezekiel Elliott aiming for Eric Dickerson’s rookie rushing record

Where is Demarco these days?
Last year would indicate he carried too much in 2014, but we'll see this season.

They obviously thought he wouldn't have much remaining and they didn't care if he burned out. I do think he pushed to get all of those carries.

Good.. Stay your butt out of trouble and go for it. Dallas will use him as a workhorse if he can handle the load. But he ain't played a down yet in regular season. Looked good in the few carries against the seahags first stringers.

That is another topic altogether. I do agree he had shortcomings that Emmitt didn't have.

The point in this thread is that he is a hall-of-famer and was a minimal celebrator.

He spent less time in his entire career celebrating than Jesse Holley spent celebrating his 1 TD.

True. I've seen guys celebrate making a tackle for a 3 yard gain more than he did a 70 yard TD run.

I don't think they will give him enough carries. They are well aware of the limited career span for most RBs and won't want to over use him considering their other options.
I hope you are right.

He doesn't have Dickerson's size to take the hits.

I'd take 1000 yds and split the rest with Morris and DMAC.

Stay fresh for any playoff runs.

I want him to confidently say he will not ever enter the drug program.

Elliott needs to talk less.

I don't understand why athletes can't have an inner confidence while remaining humble on the outside anymore. If he thinks he can break the record, great. But why blab it to the world?

It only makes you look conceited. And, if you fail, foolish.
So you want your athletes to be fake? If Elliot gets the record, which he probably won't, it won't have anything to do with his confidence about getting it.

And with the tug of the marionette strings our fans disparages one of our players for having confidence.
The idea that you if you vocalize it, you are not being humble is ridiculous. Football is a much better sport when athletes say what's on their minds. Sure you get the occasion where someone makes the big mistake of offending someone and they have to be smarter about it, but I would rather have that then robotic nothing speak all the time.

Yep.

But over the course of his pro career, his attitude changed as he matured as a person. Maybe Zeke will too. Maybe not.

It's not a huge deal. Just a personal preference.
But you asked "how did that work out?" Well, the answer to your question is it turned into a hall of fame career. Zeke is a rookie. Manning was a rookie when he said it. Don't move the goalposts.

He might have a chance if he had Dickerson's break away speed...he's gonna find out that real quick there is a big differnce between the NFL and running away from corn fed Big 10 defenders....

I certainly hope he doesn't do it... unless he averages 7 yards a carry or something. Strangely enough, his teammate is the only person who has given it a decent run in recent memory.

??...

Which teammate has given what a decent run?

Edit: Oh, wait, you mean Morris....I keep forgetting (or wanting to) that he's on the Cowboys now lol

It's going to be interesting to see Zeke and Derek Henry's stats this year.

Last year it would have been more yards than all but two Rbs and tied for 4th most TDs among RBs. Don't see how that is setting the bar low, maybe the yardage, but I expect Morris to get more carries than most think.

You take a RB with the 4th pick in the draft and brag that you did it because he can save your defense, then that guy better be a world beater. And I also have lots of confidence in Zeke and the Cowboys line. My God if the hapless McChicken can do it without Romo then Zeke can go crazy. Morris could probably do the same given the chance.

McFadden only had 3 TDs, huge difference between that and then 10 I'm saying I want from Elliott

16 games Elliott will have 15 minimum.
That would be great, but I think with you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I think with consistent QB play, and a defense that is good enough that we are playing with leads and not from behind its possible, but I would not say it's a given
