PFT: Jerry Has No Desire to See Trey Lance Start This Season

In other words, Jerry saw enough of Lance in the pre-season. :omg:

"Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy regrets not giving Trey Lance some reps late in Monday night’s 34-10 loss to the Texans. But owner Jerry Jones has no desire to see Lance start a game for the Cowboys.

“I don’t know about that,” Jones said of Lance potentially starting. “I want to give our team the very best chance it can — in all phases — to be successful. So, we’re going to go here with the quarterback that gives us the best chance to win the game.”

Thanks Coach! :muttley:

Boy…. Getting worse and worse with Jerry going ’all in’ on these interviews. At least he goes ‘all in’ on something.

Whether Lance plays or not shouldn't be Jerry's call. If Jerry puts Lance on the roster, it should be up to the coaching staff who plays.
The HC in Dallas is a title only Jerry is owner GM and HC and folks still saying he doesn’t run the team

These are truly dark days here in cowboys nation. Bad drafts, unexplainable trades, bad contracts, and zero accountability from those making these decisions.

Then why waste a fourth round pick on him? This is just unbelievable, seriously. Dude is either senile or Clueless my guess is a little of both
My only guess is that others like Jerry Jr told him that he can play around with 4th round picks, but that's it Jerry, nothing higher than that.
Now sit down and eat your cookie and try not to spill your milk.

Does he not want to see Lance because he can’t throw the football? Or he’s afraid if the light actually comes on?

If he plays well and someone signs him we get a comp pick in 2026. That’s the smart GM move

There is literally nothing that can help us by playing him. It could help him this offseason, but it can’t help us.
There is no help for us whatsoever...Lance has nothing to do with it.

Lance would provide fans with some entertainment in these dark times.

Next question should have been:

“So you completely wasted that 4th round pick?”

Well, if anybody had any questions about who's running this show......... It explains why MM wasn't fired. It explains 10 years of Jason Garret........ How can you hold a coach responsible when he's not the one in charge?

My opinion is Trey Lance should retire. Then, if he still wants to play “later”, then he can un-retire and find a new team.

I have no desire to see Jerry being the GM anymore or #4 behind center, but I know neither one of these things will be happening anytime soon!

He needs to stay out of the who plays conversation. However, perhaps as some posters said he's trying to stash him for an easy re-sign in the offseason. Or maybe he just can't play and doesn't want people to see that.

Why is anyone surprised? He has misevaluated (both ways) a ton of players over his years. He thinks Dak is good so not sure why anyone would trust him about Lance.

It's amazing...how biased people are about chosing what to believe. One minute they say how crazy and inept Jerry is in every way. Next minute they trust Jerry for his spot on assessment of Lance.

A 4th round pick for a third string QB who can’t beat out a horrible Cooper Rush. No wonder the 49ers were shocked when they got a 4th round pick, they didn’t think they were going to get anything.
Someone needs to ask the GM about this trade and how he would grade it.

This is the problem with this team. The owner or GM should NOT be telling the media who's going to start, play, sit, etc. That is your coaches responsibility. I don't know why any self respecting coach would want to work for Jerry. He undermines his coach. The coach should also be able to pick his own staff.
That’s why Jerrah will never hire a real coach. He did when he needed a new stadium but we all knew that would be short lived once he got what he wanted.
I will always remember Jerry Jones as the man who destroyed the Dallas Cowboys. That is his legacy.
