PFT: Jerry Jones remains committed to Wade Phillips... per ESPN

It's silly to even think Jones would say something different. Whatever his ability as a GM, he's smart enough to know that dangling threats over a mans head, especially a milquetoast kind of guy like Wade, would accomplish nothing but distraction. To say anything else would put an albatross around the teams neck and drag it down.

His decision at seasons end will have nothing at all to do with what he say's today.

:hammer:

Folks just need to come to grips with the fact that Wade Phillips will remain Head Coach until the Season is over.

Jerry Jones has never fired a Coach during the Season, not Campo, not Gailey, not Switzer and not Phillips.

i dont mind wade being head coach this year, i am still willing to give wade the chance to get to the playoffs, then anything can happen

but i dont want to put up with another year of his poor coaching if its a losing year this year;

like wade said, changes need to happen, and it started with him, but i dont see nothing that he is doing with the defense till he has to fix things, that is not doing his job

Ever consider the fact that we'd spent a few years prior converting to a 3-4 defense and Wade's success in the system made him the most viable candidate? Who else was available at the time? Parcell's waffling left us high and dry late in the "hire a new coach" game.

I think Rex Ryan was looking for a head coaching job at that point.

I think he's rough around the edges but he's brought an attitude and has the Jets playing well.

If this is true, then Maybe Jerry Jones should just be committed.

I was listening to ESPN 980 here in DC earlier this morning and I forgot who said, but he made a great point. If you fire a coach during the middle of a NFL season, you stand a chance that you will not get the coach that you want after that season is done because that coach will look at your organization as unstable and his job security will probably not be stable. So I chalk this off as GM/Owner speak.

Ryan was looking for a job. He was my #1 choice for a replacement for Tuna, along with Sparano.

There could never be a better year to go deep in the playoffs. So many people would be secretly pissed off.
Secretly? They're the most vocal. That's kinda like saying everyone standing in the parking lot doesn't hear that one crazy guy with the bullhorn yelling, "IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!! RUE!!! I SAID 'RUE' ******!!!"

good point

I don't think Wade will be back next year unless we win in the playoffs and his defense is a big reason why.

In hindsight, I think that would have been an excellent move. Unfortunately, we'll have to watch him turnaround an underachieving Jets team.

The thing with Wade is that he better grow some, because this is his last chance to make his mark on the NFL. If he fails here, he is not going to sniff another head-caoching job ever again, and all the talk about his family tree will mean nothing.

I was a fan of Sporano, also. And, up until these past couple of weeks, I was convinced he was the better man for the job. After watching the play on both sides of the line so far this year, It's tough to hang on to that one. Maybe Sporano has been figured out. Maybe his players don't buy into it anymore. One thing is for certain, this year's Dolphins don't look ANYTHING like last year's Dolphins.

i hope your right, but thats not what i read when i saw what jerry jones said about wanting wade to win his first superbowl, but might take longer than a year to 2, right there your admitting defeat

i have calmed down some now, boy, was i seeing red over what jerry said about wade being the right defensive person for this team and wanting wade to win a superbowl here, but might take 2 to 3 years

:bang2:

Do you believe anything Jerry says 2 weeks into the season?

its like parcells and sparano said, they arent sneaking up onto teams this year with their wildcat option and surprising teams off of their losing year before sparano got there

when you get into the playoffs etc, strength of the schedule changes and you face tougher opponents

and teams have game film on you etc
