I'm a believer that it's ok to slightly overdraft a QB if you think he'll be the best possible QB we can get before Romo retires. The position is that important. But if you want to go BPA (taking into consideration injuries, character concerns, and the fact that we probably don't need another OT) the BPA is almost certainly Myles Jack.

I can see them dropping down and taking a QB but some teams always reach so I suspect they can drop no farther than 5-6 and still get one of the top two. And I think that's a very long shot. I still say go for Brisset in the 2nd IF he looks good at the Senior Bowl etc.

The collapse of the Cowboys in the wake of Tony Romo’s two broken collarbones this season has led to a lot of focus on the team’s plans for both a backup for Romo in 2016 and a succession plan for a quarterback who will turn 36 in April. We didn't need Murray either. Or a legit backup QB.

Ive said it before.

You only draft QBs if they are Andrew Luck

If not, you take the the DE that looks like Greg Ellis incarnate or the FS that has 3 career INTs

If they are Andrew Luck. He is in Indy. Doubt he is gonna get drafted again.

That is presumptuous and not my mindset when I made my post. To me, Romo is this team's Quarterback for the next 3 years and my favorite player. And I did not say Lynch or Goff, it is not "every QB". You want to think about the future and your best chance at finding a good heir at QB is with a higher pick. Wentz has all the tools and possesses the hunger and drive but he does need developing, therefore making him the ideal prospect for this team at quarterback. He is the anti-Manziel in every way and that is the type of direction that this team or really any team needs to go when looking at quarterbacks.

No one called you out exclusively, it's nothing personal.

I just think it's absolutely foolish to take a kid at #4 that you have already admitted to yourself isn't even close to ready, when you could get a contributor immediately and then use a later pick on a kid and groom him just the same. Either way, this team has to address the back-up position so what is the difference? No one coming out this year screams, 'FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK", or I would be right there in the same boat with you.

Yes I apologize, I did not mean to sound sensitive. However, there is a reason Wentz is seen as rising up the draft. Joe Flacco at this point was not "franchise quarterback" material but he certainly was by the time the draft rolled around and that worked out pretty well. I respect your view point and I get what you're saying but my point is that if you're picking this high then your chances of getting a good player at the most important position in football is much greater. We are all hoping that we don't have to pick this high ever again so who knows if we'll ever be in a position like this in the foreseeable future.

Until I see something that proves these 2016 QB prospects are must-draft players, I have no problem passing on them. Even IF one of these QBs go on to become a great NFL QB, their college tape does not show it.

I know our passing game was terrible in 2015, but that's no reason to give up on throwing the ball altogether. Who does Jerry think will play QB in 2016? Or in an ultra radical move is our coaching squad reverting to a vanilla 1890s (not a typo, I do mean the victorian era rather than 1990s) offense which doesn't throw?

We need to add at least 2 QBs for 2016 - a starter and a solid backup. Romo can't be counted on to play extensively or even at a high level anymore.

Then you wait and suck for 15 more years until one comes out. We need to be bad enough to ensure we dont miss out on the next cant miss QB

So there.

I been saying this. There are going to be 2 young QBs most likely available in FA pretty cheap that the team really liked. Not only that but this team doesnt seem to think Romo is close to hanging up the cleats

Alot of us joked about Moore but the guy lit up when he got comfortable. He looks like he can handle a start here and there too. Would rather have RG3 or Manziel over him tho. Think Moore will be the 3rd QB on the roster.

And that's exactly what the majority of this board is doing with no consideration of whether they're any good or not. Just draft one is all they care.

I like alternative of not drafting one altogether either I mean what are the odds that Romo happens to get injured and misses 13 games? Probably will never happen.

If Jones cant see the need for the next franchise QB after this season, then there is absolutely no hope whatsoever that he will ever see it until Romo is either dead or in a wheel chair. Being a Cowboys fan has truly never been so dire since I can remember. We have complete fools running the operation.

dumb and dumber is about as appropriate as it gets.
