PFT: Jets trade G Pete Kendall to Skins *Merge*

You can get "Pete Kendall" in the fourth round.

And he'll be 23.

And cheap.

And not retiring in two years.

Understand what I mean? And why those picks are so valuable?

Skyler Green was drafted in what round ? What year was it ? Where does he play now ?

Super valuable I guess.

:laugh2:

I know plenty about the Commanders, still that doesnt explain the weak reference.

Trading for a guard is similar in what way ?

Not just a guard. A relic.

So that proves all 4th round picks are worthless?

Marion Barber led the NFC in TDs last season. 4th round draft pick.

You're smarter than that - I know it.

Bengals.

Other recent Cowboys 4th rounders who have value.

Chris Canty
Marion Barber
Doug Free
Isaiah Stanback

Some for other teams just from 2006.

Stephen Gostokowski
Owen Daniels
Ko Simpson
Brandon Marshall
Elvis Dumervil

I intended to show that the Commanders have had some 4th round success as well, but so many drafts have no 4th rounder. Still...

Stephen Davis...1996

It can happen.

Take a peek at every teams draft pick in the fourth round over the last few years. You will certainly find more failure than success.

You are smarter than that.

Take a peek at every Commander free agent over the last few years. You will certainly find more failure than success.

The Commanders are not smarter than that.

;)

Put it this way, Pete Kendall just put you over the top, congrats. :laugh2:

OBTW, any interest in a slightly used, under paid DE?

Skins wouldn't be interested unless he was wanting a 15 mil signing bonus. ;)

You find that in every round.

But there are a plethora of fourth round success stories from the past few years. Many starters in the league were fourth round draft picks - and they're not 32 - and they're not about to retire - and they're not holding out for more cash.

I'd suggest you look at the 4th rounders from the past few years and figure out why all these contenders are finding so many starters and cheap depth in the later rounds. It's because they know what they're doing.

Seriously ... do you know anything about what George Allen did personnel-wise when he was coaching the Commanders in the 1970s?

Obviously not.

Here's a lesson for you --

--------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/release.jsp?RELEASE_ID=506

"The Washington Commanders, who'd enjoyed only four winning seasons since 1945, were more than willing to be bored by a few wins. They hired Allen as coach and general manager. He inherited a 6-8-0 team on its way down. In a dazzling series of trades, he brought in Billy Kilmer, Roy Jefferson, Boyd Dowler, Ron McDole, Clifton McNeil, Verlon Biggs, Diron Talbert, Jack Pardee, Myron Pottios, John Wilber, Richie Petitbon, and Speedy Duncan. The press tabbed them "The Over-the-Hill Gang" after a popular movie title, but the veterans made few mistakes. When the offense bogged down from injuries, the defense was able to keep the team winning. The 9-4-1 record represented Washington's most victories in 29 years.

... From 1973 through 1977, his teams had winning records and made the playoffs three times, but some questioned the price. His veteran roster cost more than other teams, and he continued to be criticized for sacrificing the Commanders' future by trading away draft choices. In all his time in Washington, the 'Skins had one draft pick before the fifth round."

Eh its not even a 4rth round pick for next season. Its a 2009 fourth round pick or a 2008 5th round pick.

Short sighted but good trade. Kendall is still a very good player and will help us out more than whoever the 2009 fourth round pick was going to be.

For all the "success" Dallas has with fourth round picks, they still have zero playoff wins to show for so it looks like the mighty fourth round picks aren't getting the job done.

I think it's a good trade.

I also think that lame jab has run its course.

The trade needed to be made. That much has been acknowledged. It's the overall way these idiots do business that we're talking about now. The notion that these are "just" 4th round picks is moronic and it's spread to the adoring fanbase. The fact that other franchises who have success value these picks so highly ought to tell you something.

Not surprisingly, it doesn't.

Come back when you can step up your game.

Really 2.7 mill is cheap, and the Commanders don't scout college players anyway. Samuels might be one of the best tackles in the league. I think it was a good move considering the crazy money guards are getting. Most of these bums can't even shine Larry Allen's shoes, boy I miss Larry.
