As a previous member mentioned, the Skins offensive line was tops in the league the last couple of years, this much is evident around the league -- if there's an area where the Skins shine, it's at offensive line or at runningback. You can spin the stats any way you want to, it doesn't change a thing.

You can't make a factual case for the Skins' offensive line being "tops in the league the last couple of years"... you can spin that any way you want to, but the stats show the FACTS...

I'm really not looking to annoy you, AG, you seem like a good guy, but you're completely full of it to assert that Skins' offensive line is a top unit...

Ok, what exactly is wrong with their depth in the secondary, please enlighten me?

Well, let's see-- Jerametrius Butler was really good, in 2003 and 04, then he got hurt, and has been a shadow of what he once was... he's played 6 games in the last 2 seasons, has 2 tackles, no ints, no passes defensed... it's wishful thinking to believe he can once again be the player he was 2-3 years ago... I'm not saying it's impossible, mind you, just that it's a long way from a given...

I liked Reed Doughty coming out of college, but he is right slow for a DB... I'm talking 4.65 second 40 slow...

Vernon Fox is a scrub, with 2 ints and 4 passes defensed in 72 games (9 starts)... no team he's played for has ever finished higher than 13th... all of the other teams were not in the top 20, one of them ranked dead last...

Ade Jimoh has played in 63 games, has 64 tackles, 5 passes defensed and is still looking for his first int...

David Macklin isn't bad for depth purposes, he's started a bunch of games in the league...

Pierson Prioleau is a journeyman at best... in 98 games played, he has all of 14 passes defensed and 1 int (way back in 2000)... he's also pretty small for a safety, and coming off a season-ending injury last year...

Fred Smoot got benched while playing for a completely atrocious Vikings' pass defense last year (tied for last in the league)... the Vikings were 22nd the year before... he's simply not as good as he was when he left the Skins... he was never as good as he thought he was, LOL...

Of those 7 DBs, the only ones who would stand a chance of cracking the Cowboys' 53 man roster would be Macklin, and MAYBE Smoot (the latter only because the Boys are not real happy with their depth at CB right now)...

But for a 4th rd pick--not sure about that?

A very reliable inside source says that the Schefter report is incorrect. The Commanders give a conditional draft pick (performance based) for Kendall, not the widely reported 4th round pick in 2008.

Im a Realist, the skins O line is one of their strengths...Their weaknesses are second WR and (defense line pressure) I would be more concerned if they had picked up a top notch WR or a pass rusher.....

Laugh all you want, fantasy is based off of production.

fantasy is based on what you would like to happen, NOT what happens.

when it happens it's called reality and when reality sucks bad enough, you tend to cling to fantasy and blind yourself.

dude, when you're in a ditch full of crap you can either sell yourself it will go away or change, or you can get up, wipe yourself off, and move on.

stay in the ditch, i just don't care. but don't call the lastest "poo" to float your way the next answer. it's the same as the last and as long as you sit there doing the same stupid move after same stupid move, you'll still be in the ditch.

but it's the skins, so i'm ok with that.

As I said previously, you don't have a 2008 4th round pick. Denver has yours as final installement on the TJ Duckett acquisition.

i'm a realist also - funny, i never see you at the meetings. : )

if trading for a 34 year old OL vastly improves your line, that speaks volumes of how bad the line was.

and if you think 1 34 year old player really makes that difference, please, let me sell you my book "an idiots guide to getting out of crap-ditches".

This year, even with this latest move, it's still probably one of the ten worst lines in the league (particularly if you factor in depth)...

I repeat, you're unbelievable!

well there is the guard they needed.

They are going to have a powerful running game.

thx for posting wg.

I just went to x-skins....good grief.

anyway there are some over there saying that they dont have a fourth? Is that right, how would or when would they have traded their 08 picks already?
You mean you actually read the 59 page thread about it?

But offensive lines don't factor into the fantasy equation, do they??

I ask because I don't play that game, never have found it interesting... but my understanding is you draft a defense, then you draft quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends (not in that order)...

I'll just say that his comments about the few sacks the Skins gave up doesn't consider WHY they gave up so few sacks... basically, they didn't throw the ball all that often (they were 24th in the NFL with 470 pass attempts), and they threw the ball short a LOT... Brunell averaged 6.9 yards per attempt, Campbell averaged 6.3... for comparison, Romo led the league among QBs with at least 200 attempts, at 8.6 yards per attempt...

Throwing the ball relatively infrequently + dumping the ball off with great regularity = few sack opportunities... basically, it's hard to sack ANY QB if he's getting rid of if inside of 3 seconds...

I wouldn't suggest that's Commander hate. I'd think the same thing no matter who the player is.

But Congrats. You just got yourselves a Marco Rivera.
Dont do Marco Rivera a disservice like that.

Never mind. Rivera WAS that bad last season. Great guy though, lol.

Once you get down to it, they needed to make a trade like this, otherwise they would be spending more picks on a new QB as well. Most likely scenario is that Kendall turns out to be the next Rivera, merely serviceable until he is replaced. After cuts are made, they may be able to find some castoff OG's with some upside like a Trey Darilek, if he doesn't make our roster.

And yet, not one of you Skins fans has offered a credible rebuttal for my factual, stats-based argument...

You guys have fine running backs, as good as any in the league, Chris Cooley is a bonafide weapon, Santana Moss is good, and you keep telling us that Jason Campbell is gonna be your QB of the future... seems to me that with all these weapons, if your offensive line really WAS as good as you claim it is, your offense ought to have ranked in the top 5, at the very least...

The fact that it hasn't in a very long time is all the evidence I need to support my assertion that the Skins' offensive line is highly overrated...

You're quoting some FANTASY GEEK to prove your point, and I'M the trip??

:D :D :D :D :D :D

To be honest, I didn't know it was a fantasy football article, I just pulled up one of the hundreds of articles that have the Skins oline rated at the top of the league, I'm not going to post them all. I think being one of the top 5 teams in rushing yards and being 3rd in the NFL in sacks speak for themselves :)

As far as your post on the Skins secondary,

They have Taylor, Landry (the kid looks to be for real; I don't care what team you root for). Shawn Springs is the best corner back on the team, and one of the top corners in the league, when he's healthy. They drafted Carlos Rogers -- who, up until last year was looking like a solid pick -- however, everyone struggled on their D last year, which I think was due to lack of depth at LB and in the secondary.

They did a good job of addressing these issues, especially in the secondary.

Omar Stoutmire was a solid starter for the Saints last year, and he was a solid player when he was here. NFC East fans ridiculed us for lettting him go.

Oh, speaking of which, let's talk about another player who the Skins were ridiculed for letting go, but now they're being ridiculed (mostly by NFC East fans) for bringing him back. That's kind of funny isn't it? :)

Fred Smoot struggled while he was in Minnesota, you're right about that, but he also had a lot of non-football related issues that he had to deal with, not to mention the fact that, he just wasn't a good fit for the Vikings.

To be honest man, if I had to go through some of things he went through last year, I would struggle doing my job too, he's only human.

The fact that he played good when he was with us -- led the team in interceptions the last few years he was here -- and he's a vocal leader and a hell of a motivator, says to me that he was a solid addition.

Macklin was a starter in Arizona. Yeh, I know Arizona sucks, but he's coming here to be the #4 corner, in which he should excel. Prioleau is a solid veteran backup if not an adequate starter when healthy. Butler won't make the team and Jimoh is strictly a special teamer.

Believe me, the secondary is the least of my concerns, some of these guys will be cut, and they will make another teams roster and possibly start.
