How many winning seasons has your team had in the last 10 or 11 years?

Ain't nobody copying that mess!!

It's funny you mention that. While the Skins have been atrocious since Gibbs was here in his first go around.

Consider this, as bad as you guys think the Skins are, the Cowboys have been just as bad over the last 10 years or so, in fact, I read a statistic somewhere that they have the exact same record :)

Just sayin' - and they've been following the same blue print provided by the most successful teams in the free agency era, and they've been just as inconsistent as the Commanders.

Also, it could be argued that the Patriots took a "Commanders like" approach to the offseason, trading away a draft pick and singing big name free agents. Let's face it, the Skins have left their mark in free agency, teams - they are a changing the way they approach free agency.

Just saying...that's because during those past years the Cowboys were recovering/rebuilding after, what, 3 SuperBowls?

Now, after some bumbling moves by Jerra, this team is again young, hungry and talented, thanks to good drafting the past few years. Some misses along the way, but, nevertheless, this team is stacked with YOUNG talent. Plus, Jerra still has some frogs in the salary cap to work even better to sign out own players...not go after some broken down vet that needs to have the needle in order to just play!

Good luck with the RedStink oline trying to stop this young, hungry, blitz crazed team...good luck with that!

;)

The Commanders do not have a 2008 4th round pick. They still owe that to Denver from the 3 way deal landing TJ Duckett and sending Ashley Lelie to the Falcons.

Kendall is a good acquisition for them though. Their OL has struggled a bit.

Yup, that's what I'm saying... first off, there is no way in hell that the Skins have been a top 5 offensive line in ANY year in this millennium, or even a top 10 line... second, they have suffered a net loss in talent from last year, making them even worse...

The bad passing offense was in large part due to an offensive line that really wasn't a good pass-blocking unit... no matter how few sacks they gave up, that was based entirely on them relying heavily on the dumpoff pass...

Last year, they were a middle of the pack offensive line... mediocre, but nothing more... this year, they're not as good...

Sorry if that offends you, but facts is facts... as I've demonstrated, you Skins fans have overrated that line for years now... never finishing in the top 10 in total offense in this millennium is ample testimony to that, any offense is only as good as its line...

Note that I have been saying this about your line for the last couple-three seasons...

Before I even get to this post, I noticed you conviently failed to mention our running game. I'd like to know what reasons you will be able to give for having one of the best running attacks in the league the last couple years. Or do all mediocre offensive lines allow their second string running back to put up over 1100 yards in seven games?

Ok, well we are recovering from our 3 Super Bowls aswell - it's just taken us a little longer ;)

We also havn't had a decent QB in all those years you mention. How awesome was that Colts offensive line before they drafted Peyton Manning?

So Quincy.. err I mean Campbell will make your line great?

Last I checked Jason wasn't holding hands with addicts finding the power to get sober. :)

I was just saying, that the best offensive line in football history wouldn't have made a juggernaut with Shayne Mathews or an injured Mark Brunell starting.

The things you just mentioned could be attributed to any team in the NFL. Look at what happened to the Eagles in 05 when they suffered a substantial amount of injuries, they turned into bottom dwellers.

All teams are susceptible to the injury bug, but few walk the razor's edge the way the Skins do...

I think the Skins lack depth at guard, that much is evident, but other than that, I think they're pretty solid -- other than receiver and having some young drafted talent at the defensive end position.

Sorry, I don't think they're solid at all... they're not as bad as they were last year, but they're still a fair piece away from a good team...

Your offensive line is still not good, your wide receivers are a mess, your quarterback situation is shaky... your defensive line couldn't mount a pass rush if its life depended on it, and your DBs can still be beaten...

I like your RBs, I like Cooley, and I like your LBs... but that's about it... with no flaming intended, I'll be quite surprised if they finish at .500...

I've seen articles floating around stating that the Skins have some of the best depth in the league,

Must have been on a Skins' website...

The Commanders have one of the best special teams units in the league - that speaks volumes to the type of depth they have.

Actually, the only special teams unit where you ranked higher than 14th was kickoff coverage, where y'all ranked 4th...

And good special team players are not always destined to be good position players...

As a previous member mentioned, the Skins offensive line was tops in the league the last couple of years, this much is evident around the league -- if there's an area where the Skins shine, it's at offensive line or at runningback. You can spin the stats any way you want to, it doesn't change a thing.

Ok, what exactly is wrong with their depth in the secondary, please enlighten me?

It had already been mentioned... that's how online arguments work, you guys state your argument, I state mine...

I'd like to know what reasons you will be able to give for having one of the best running attacks in the league the last couple years.

Very good running backs, combined with a good run-blocking line...

Never said they weren't a good run-blocking unit, but you do know there's more to football than just running the ball, don't you?? TOTAL offense is the final barometer of how good your team's offense is, and thus how good your line is...

Or do all mediocre offensive lines allow their second string running back to put up over 1100 yards in seven games?

Your second string running back could start for 25, maybe 30 teams in this league... I'm a big Betts fan...

I like Rock Cartwright, too... Portis is good, but I'm not a fan of his... he's too flaky, and I don't think he has the build to be a 350-400 carry a season back...

Fair enough answer; however, I do think with a better QB we would have seen a much better total overall offense.

And for the record Im also a huge Betts fan. Im always in some sort of argument over at ES about Betts' abilities and how he should be our featured back.

You're a trip man :)

T-7. Washington Commanders (84 points): A lot went wrong with the Commanders last season, but their offensive line wasn't one of them. Washington boasted a 4.5 yards-per-carry average and scored 37 points as a run line, but its real strength was in pass protection. The 'Skins surrendered the third-fewest sacks (17) and ranked sixth with 47 points as a pass line.

Wow 8 pages so far on Pete Kendall being traded to the skins?

Yes that was the plan. Who is whining? You're the one who sounds like you're crying and it isn't even your team.

you're whining when you start lobbing excuses out left and right for why you're suddenly in a "must have" position somewhere.

bottom line is you're in that situation cause you don't build forward so when today craps out, you've got a problem you don't normally have if you plan better.

True..just imagine how crazy around here it would be if they traded for Jets starter, Jacob Bender :)

Maybe Kendall will turn out well for the skins. That is definately not out of the question. I just find it comical how quick ES was to label him a definite upgrade. Kendall has had a very decent career and maybe he has a few more solid years ahead of him. Although, Players do get old and leave the NFL pretty quick. Most thought the Boys made a solid FA with Fabini last offseason. It turned out the Jets knew what they were doing to let him go.
