The rest of the assorted boards I frequent, as is always the case...

if trading for a 34 year old OL vastly improves your line, that speaks volumes of how bad the line was.
and if you think 1 34 year old player really makes that difference, please, let me sell you my book "an idiots guide to getting out of crap-ditches".
silverbear;1601337 said:But offensive lines don't factor into the fantasy equation, do they??
I ask because I don't play that game, never have found it interesting... but my understanding is you draft a defense, then you draft quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends (not in that order)...
I'll just say that his comments about the few sacks the Skins gave up doesn't consider WHY they gave up so few sacks... basically, they didn't throw the ball all that often (they were 24th in the NFL with 470 pass attempts), and they threw the ball short a LOT... Brunell averaged 6.9 yards per attempt, Campbell averaged 6.3... for comparison, Romo led the league among QBs with at least 200 attempts, at 8.6 yards per attempt...
Throwing the ball relatively infrequently + dumping the ball off with great regularity = few sack opportunities... basically, it's hard to sack ANY QB if he's getting rid of if inside of 3 seconds...

Kendall seems like a good character guy...
...and he's ONLY 34.
He could definitely be a core Commander for years. Unlike Derrick Dockery.

AmishGangsta;1601346 said:To be honest, I didn't know it was a fantasy football article, I just pulled up one of the hundreds of articles that have the Skins oline rated at the top of the league, I'm not going to post them all.
I think being one of the top 5 teams in rushing yards and being 3rd in the NFL in sacks speak for themselves
As far as your post on the Skins secondary,
They have Taylor, Landry (the kid looks to be for real; I don't care what team you root for). Shawn Springs is the best corner back on the team, and one of the top corners in the league, when he's healthy. They drafted Carlos Rogers -- who, up until last year was looking like a solid pick -- however, everyone struggled on their D last year, which I think was due to lack of depth at LB and secondary.
Fred Smoot struggled while he was in Minnesota, you're right about that, but he was also had a lot of non-football related issues that happened to him, not to mention the fact that, he just wasn't a good fit for the Vikings.
Macklin was a starter in Arizona.
Prioleau is a solid veteran backup if not an adequate starter when healthy.
Believe me, the secondary is the least of my concerns
Unless of course, when they inevitably make him the highest paid TE ever to play the position.superpunk;1601076 said:No team ever gets knocked for locking up their own players long-term. That's how you build a franchise, although Gibbs still doesn't know that.
Teams get ripped for trading away the best corner in the league plus a second round draft pick for Clinton Portis and giving him more cash. Teams get ripped for trading a second for Brandon Lloyd and extending him without ever seeing him on the field. Teams get ripped for trading for TJ Duckett's expiring deal and never playing him.
Teams never get ripped for locking up their young stars long-term. When the Skins finally work something out with Cooley, they'll get nothing but praise.

DCBoysfan;1601362 said:Very good point, I saw that team play just about every game last year and the are a big screen team. That can account for the yards per pass attempts. They do not like throwing the ball down field, even with S. Moss
silverbear;1601402 said:Pal, I honestly think their fondness for the short passing game was predicated on a lack of confidence in the quality of their pass blocking... they didn't trust that line to protect long enough for patterns to come open downfield...
5Stars;1601413 said:But, but, but Satin Moss scored two, tue, 2, to, too, touchdowns on the Cowboys in just 3 seconds to win that game at the end!
Tell me they cannot pass block!

iceberg;1601392 said:as for the rest. your T go G experiment failed. your backup G failed or got hurt. how does this mean you don't have a need/weakness on the OL if one of your T positions is so bad you gotta trade for a 34 year old T?
yennor24;1601443 said:First im a COWBOYS FAN........My point is they obviously felt that that guard wasnt getting the job done so they went after Kendall, so that should be a upgrade for this year right???? like I said earlier if they got a nice wr or a pass rusher It would have made them much stronger....
