Orton hasn't started a game in 2 years but if you're looking for a positive he was the only QB to beat the Packers during the regular season in 2011. He did out play Aaron Rodgers the MVP that season so for those who are searching for some glimmer of hope with him at QB there you are.

I actually expect Orton to play pretty well. It might be dumb to mention it, but Jerry is actually right about there being a reason he got paid so well -- it's because he was one of the very best backup QBs on the market. He's won a lot of games in this league. Some people are acting like we're rolling Alex Tanney out there or something.

Or Jon Kitna :)

Kyle Orton: “It’s not like I just walked in the door”

While there’s a reasonable degree of hysteria about the condition of Tony Romo’s back and the Cowboys’ playoff hopes, the guy who will likely decide the latter is fairly calm.

“I’ve been here a couple of years,” Cowboys backup quarterback Kyle Orton said, via Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News. “It’s not like I just walked in the door.”

While he hasn’t played this season, he did have the run of the Cowboys offense most of the offseason while Romo recovered from a procedure to remove a cyst in his back. So there’s a degree of familiarity with the receivers and the system that gives them some degree of comfort.

“I’m excited,” Orton said. “I really feel like my game is in a great spot right now, and I’m really confident heading into the week. . . . I’ve played a lot of games in this league and had some success, so [I’m] just excited with the group of guys I’ve got around me.”

Now Romo bashers are gonna see why Tony Romo is a great QB. Good luck Orton with that line ! Ill bet anyone 10 to 1 he doesn't finish the game!

In all honesty, I'm more concerned about our defense than Orton. Sure Tony gives us a better chance to win but if our defense lets them score at will it won't matter who's at QB.

With all the focus being on Orton I think the game comes down to our defense. If it plays like it did in the 2nd half against the Packers and Bears and most of the season then it isn't going to matter who our QB is.
On the other hand, in a "what have you done for me lately" league, if the defense plays the way it played last week against Washington we have a very good chance.

Or Jon Kitna :)

I would take the Kitna from 2010 over Orton. Kitna had four 300 plus yard games and a win on the road over a Peyton Manning led Colts team. He and Dez had some pretty good chemistry I believe Dez had his first 100 yard game with Kitna at QB.

The Defense is an utter joke who couldn't stop a college team, The only reason were in any games is Romo can match points that our D gives away. Orton won't. Im glad you guys still have faith," Its over Johnny "!

Win, lose or draw, we'll see some routes this team hasn't used in a couple years and the eagles won't be prepared for either.

Id take that defense during that stretch with Orton...

I don't know why people are whining about Kyle Orton being back up, it's not like Peyton Manning was on the market. He's a back up QB, he's not the starter, so you get back up quality.

its the people in the garrett camp that want to project this as "dont put this loss on garrett"

The Broncos wanted to start Orton, but he didn't show much in order for him to take the starting job. Then they gave it to Tebow, not expecting the success he achieved with the Broncos.

Now, I do believe Orton suffered from a lack of confidence by the Broncos. I don't think he could have thrived in that environment just as I believe if Tony Romo were on a top caliber team like the Steelers, Broncos, Saints, Bears, 49ers, he would have a Super Bowl ring by now.

I think Orton will do better, but I still can't forget how he played in Denver.

Year prior to his benching he had six or seven 300+ yd games...the Broncos defense struggled earlythe following year and they lost some games. The coaching staff probably just wanted to see if they had anything in Tebow and made the change.
