I live in metro Atlanta; any mention of the Patriots, Super Bowl LI, NRG Stadium, etc. is like reopening a gangrene wound. It is a pall that will never go away.

That Super Bowl will haunt Atlanta fans and that franchise forever, especially considering they’re 0-2 in Super Bowls.

The ATL - and the state of Georgia - are still basking about the Braves winning the World Series and the Bulldogs winning the College Football National Championship last year.
However - the populace will always be \ feel unfulfilled until their NFL Team gets that Championship.

You're just arguing to argue....you know damn well we are referencing the present not 15 years ago but whatever.

Not to drag this on any further but this was posted today. lol

Yep, you're right. The Pittsburgh Super Bowl year when Jackie Smith went from being one of the greatest of all time to that dude who dropped a TD right in his gut.

Ok you are right since Erod posted it then that means it’s still talked about to this day. I just don’t know how Falcons fans will live with themselves after such a debacle…..

Be in denial all you want but the facts are Super Bowl 13 and Jackie Smith’s drop is mentioned here all the time. Once his name comes up everyone gets on to those Super Bowl losses to Pittsburgh. Those Super Bowls have been mentioned a zillion times on this board and you don’t have to go very far back to find the posts. Fans hash over old games all the time. That thread is just getting started. Lol

But that drop changed momentum completely. Dallas had momentum. After that drop Pitt went nuts and Staubach tried his damnest but not enough. That drop was huge. Pitt was probably better but Dallas could have beaten them if that catch was made.

The losses to Pittsburgh in the 70s SBs never bothered me much because I always thought they had the better team. The loss in SB 5 to the Colts still passes me off this day. Almost as much as the loss to the Egirls in the 1980 NFCCG.

The Dolphins just hired a young OC why fire him after one year ? Chargers missed the playoffs by one game . Unless Dallas doesn’t make the playoffs don’t see him here either .

Payton is coming here. Whether y’all like it or not. Doesn’t matter.

Only if Jerry agrees to give Payton more control than he gave others. A lot of teams that would give him that control would take him in a heartbeat, so he wouldn't be hurting for job offers if he wanted to keep coaching. The only draw Dallas would give him would be to spend more time with his family. Is putting up with the nightmare that is Jerry and Stephen's meddling worth it? Who knows?

I don’t even think you remember what this argument is even about lol.

It was about Dan Quinn being the coach of the Cowboys. I mentioned the Falcons second half debacle in the Super Bowl against New England and it took off. Lol

Please no. Overrated.

You could say he was similar to MM in that he only managed one SB win with a HOF caliber QB and now has become human when faced with normal average to below average QB play. You would have thought Payton would have thought and planned on grooming Brees' replacement with that genius brain many here think he possesses. He saw what he has on the team and bailed out......called it burn out.

Still don't understand why nobody would want Payton. He gives this franchise instant credibility it hasn't had since Bill Parcells was here.

Yeah you believed missing the SB was better than going to one and losing a lead in it….
