It's not about taking an L- and really they don't have nothing! The NFL must do this to save face with public opinion. Win or lose the NFL will come out of this smelling like roses.
This case has already been won by the NFL. Trust me- they are done. Roger Goddell said they have done their part. Everything now is just formalities.
I disagree. A loss would be very damaging to the NFL because public perception will be that they railroaded him or attempted to do so.
The only motive will be that they wanted to be seen as tough on DV and they didn't care if they took down an innocent man.
If they win, public perception will be that the NFL punished a domestic abuser. There's a lot at stake.
A loss may be something Jerry Jones and other owners use to get rid of Goddell.
More likely however, the NFL owners are for the most part behind Goddell here, as any discussion over commissioner discipline will take the onus off of other things that the owners actually care more about in the next CBA discussions.
