What if the only team that will give Pickens what he wants only wants to give a 4th round pick for him in trade? It would be the only deal available. I guess he’s staying.

My guess is $35 million per year, four years, $120 million guaranteed. He’s 24. Had a great year on a bad team. Cap limit just took another significant increase. He’s not going to care what other top wide receivers are paid. They are all older than he is, and they’re not available. Circumstances favor Mr. Pickens.

If I were running the Cowboys, I’d do it without hesitation. The cap is going up anyway, and we can always restructure the big contracts later. That’s how the league works now.

I’d much rather see the Cowboys spend aggressively and push the cap hit down the road. The Eagles did exactly that and reached the Super Bowl twice. The Patriots and Seahawks have done it too. None of those teams built their entire rosters only through the draft — they went out and paid for what they needed.

So come on, Jerry. Start signing the free agents this team clearly needs. Stop bargain hunting. All it does is make fans resent you for playing it safe instead of doing what it takes to help the Cowboys win another championship.

We can and probably will tag him if we can't work a deal. Pickens is a legit #1 and many teams need him a lot more than we do.

We can likely trade into the 2nd for GP, and we'd have to take a 3rd or better, sicne that's what we gave up for him.

You could tag him and trade him to Las Vegas for Crosby? They can draft Mendoza and bring GP in to kick his career off.

We can trade him for a defensive player, not picks.

Best case scenario is if the Raiders draft Mendoza #1 overall. They'll want a legit WR1 to pair him with. We need a DE1.

Pickens for Crosby straight up would be a win win for both teams in that scenario.

That’s why I have no issue calling this front office stupid.

It’s not just the bad decisions — it’s the constant need to act like they’re football geniuses. We already know they’re not. The results have told us that story for over two decades. Stop trying to outsmart everyone and just admit you’re the problem.

Look at Kraft. He hired real football people, wrote the checks, and got out of the way. Championships followed. It’s not complicated.

Jerry isn’t getting any younger, yet he keeps making the same mistakes. Different faces, same ego-driven process. At some point it’s not bad luck — it’s incompetence.

The best thing for this franchise would be Jerry stepping away from football decisions. Enjoy the billions. Enjoy the yacht. Let professionals run the team before another decade is wasted.

The Jones boys love the tag.

Flozell Adams, Anthony Spencer (back to back years), Dez Bryant, Ken Hamlin, Dalton Schultz, Tony Pollard, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Dak Prescott (back to back years) have all been tagged by the Jones boys.

It generally costs them more money or they get nothing but a hopeful comp pick when they use it. Prescott, Dez, Flo, and DLaw got an extension if I'm not mistaken. The extensions cost much more than they would have had the deal been signed the year or two before. Same will be true with Pickens should they tag him only to extend next year.

The most they can receive via a comp pick is a 3rd. Can't remember what Schultz, Spencer, and Pollard fetched or what those picks turned out to be as players.

With the cap increasing as it is scheduled to do, they can afford to be creative with his deal and still be active in free agency adding to the defense. The premium draft picks will be on the defensive side of the ball keeping the cap numbers down for those hopeful impact players. Just be decisive no matter the decisions.

And he ought to get paid, for sure. No, it’s not a bargain, and he shouldn’t be giving one. If he is paid well, he will do what the team says and be a good boy.

Frankly, Jerry should have already been talking to his agent. I think Jerry is afraid of Mulegheta. That’s Jerry’s fault. If he can’t handle these negotiations, then he should step down and stop playing GM wannabe. We won’t mind that at all.
