I wonder how much of this is teams not wanting to show their hands until draft day and starting to down play these prospects. I find it hard to believe that all these players are falling in the draft. Some one is not being truthful out there. :laugh1:
I think that's what it is, the teams in the bottom half of the 1st round are spreading rumors so that Nelson drops to them

The knocks on his smarts have been around for a while. This did not come from other teams- its been in the scouting reports. Maybe now with the interviews from other teams getting added to the mix its now reached critical mass.

He's been first round in the mocks, not necessarily according to NFL boards. This idea of "falling" is a bit silly because no one is really slotted until they've finished their research. They may have some ideas, but you can't say the guy was top 10 on real NFL boards a few months ago because they didn't have "boards" yet.

You missed the point. I was saying I don't think it's ethical for people to start rumors that impact negatively on people lives and this case pocketbooks. I'm not even saying its true. And it is falling for someone who has steadily been a 15-30 pick to do so one week before the draft because suddenly he's not smart enough for the game. Why is this an issue now?

I've read it but why all of a sudden is it dropping his stock. He's been first round for awhile. I think this is draft posturing. I hate to think people would be low enough to drag people down. I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen. I'd bet huge money it does. But just a few spots means a lot of money to these kids.

unless there's something else we dont know about, he'll get picked in the 1st rd

I've always seen him as a guy probably drafted in the 20's

The best option is trade Julius Jones a next year 3rd round for a early second round draft choice, like to Cleveland Browns.
That would be crazy.

Perhaps, because now it is getting serious. Maybe teams do not want their fans complaining that they passed a seemingly good (but actually poor) prospect, so, when a hyped prospect might fall to them who they will not want, they get the bad tasting information out there before the draft to damp the fans' misplaced enthusiasm.

I wouldn't say it that way myself. I don't think clubs put out information or disinformation for the purpose of defending themselves against distraught fans.

I don't know the kid so there is no way for me to say he can or can't do anything. I'm not that keen on him or any one player so I'm not in any way defending him. I'm uncertain he's too stupid to play FS though. There are other DBs that would be good for Dallas. So I'll not clamor for justice if he's not taken at 22 by us. Dallas will do what they think is best after waying all the data.

I think so too, David. He'll go where he's been projected for some time.

If you know it that well you watch too much TV.

Reggie Nelson is a vocal leader and will be a star in this league. I've seen every UF game that he played in the last two years and he was rarely out of position and he hits like a truck. He would be a great pick for us @ #22.

The question is not so much being able to make plays- the questions are about his ability to work with complicated coverages- and for US- be the QB of the secondary.

Thank You......a post from someone who has actually seen the kid play. It seems some posters like to post on this guy or that guy based on some articles or some qoute from someone instead of judgeing a guy based on his body of work.

I really do not understand how Nelson is falling so much. If we had not signed Hamlin he would be my top choice at 22. Not sure if these guys did not see the game tape or what, but every time the Fla defense was making a big play he seemed to be a part of it. I also think he can transition to CB on the next level, which just adds to his value.
Don't understand? You just read it. He's stupid. He went to college because of his athleticism.

Some team probably asked him if he knew what cover two was and he thought it was something about sharing a blanket. See if he gets above an 8 on his wonderlic.

If Griffin goes before Nelson, that's utterly laughable, and proves that the draft needs to be held in February right after the Combine before teams have four months to out think themselves. Its not rocket science, just watch the games. Nelson was the best defensive player in college football last year that I saw. You watch those LSU and Tennessee games, and it seemed like Florida had 11 players named Nelson on defense because the announcer was saying his name after every play. If the rest of the NFL teams want to overthink and suffer paralysis by analysis and let him slip to #22, I'd be ecstatic.

I never hear specific examples of how he's dumb on the football field. All I hear is that he had to go to Junior Colllege, and people are reading into that. Well, John Henderson and Frank Gore we're book smart either, I believe both of them scored below an 8 on the Wonderlic and didn't get into college right away, but somehow that didn't prevent them from playing in Hawaii.

You guys do not get it. We need a QB back in the secondary; Roy is not it, neither is Newman or Henry. That is what Hamlin was partly brought in to do. By all accounts this is not something that Nelson can do. Its as simple as that.

He was the quarterback and leader of the defense that won the National Championship and shut down the best offenses in football last year. That's what I'm basing my opinion on. What actually happened on the football field. What are you basing yours on? Some free internet draft bios and April space filler columns?
