That's good to hear. Hopefully he is working with Mike Woicik too.

Then you have little understanding of what it means to be 59.

No disrespect to Manster whatsoever.

I know full well the limitations of a 59 year old human male. I've also never met a 59 year old who looked like Randy White.

I GURANTEE that he still benches more today than Costa ever has in his life.

Thought y'all might like this.....

we talked to Randy White this past weekend and he confirmed that he is currently working with Phil Costa a couple times a week. I think this could reap huge dividends. It's good to hear that Costa is at least doing all he can to improve. I love it when Legends work with current players. Charles Haley's been working with Ware for a few years now.
:starspin

I DEFINITELY like hearing that! Randy White is a good teacher and knows every trick/technique in the book. Very glad to hear that Costa is working with him, hopefully he will absorb it and apply it this season.

It would be nice if all 4 of our young OLs from last year: Costa, Nagy, Arkin, & Kowalski were ALL working with Randy.

I have absolutely no doubt that 59 year-old Randy White could suit up and dominate Phil Costa for 60 minutes.

NO DOUBT.

No doubt about it! Manster looks like he could still play at a high level. :bicep:

He may well bench more than Costa. But that wasn't the test. It was 60 minutes on the field which is going to be about burst & quickness and endurance too.

Hey Randy is my hero too, but heroes do get old.

Would you still take Staubach or Romo too? (never mind, you probably would) :)

Out of pure curiosity, how much do you bench?

I'd bet Costa can bench a lot of weight. Short stocky guy. They're the best bench pressers.

This. Fat guys have less range of motion.

That's reps of 225. Yes, I'm sure there's some mathematical formula that can translate that to a 1 rep max.

You can be the strongest man in the world but if you don't have the technique, footwork, burst, agility, endurance of a NFL football player your not gonna last long.

Bench doesn't mean much

Over Romo? No, but I have first hand knowledge that Roger can still fire them in there.

I agree but if you go by the chart that Gil Brandt posted on testing measurements and compare Costa pro day work out numbers they are pretty good.

http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2012...e-tape-for-guards-and-centers-making-sense-of

Costa number:

40 5.12
10 1.60
VJ 35
BJ 9.04
20 shuttle 4.65
3 cone 7.66

Just by looking at him, I'd imagine that on any given snap Randy White could still put more than a few current NFL linemen on their butt.

Which means that he'd probably have Phil Costa out of a game by the early second quarter. His coughs generate more force than Costa's T-rex arms.

:laugh2:

As a 19 year old college freshman I could max out at about 1.4x my body weight, though I'm not very big. I weighed about 165 and could max out at 225.

I'm one of those guys and bench was always easy for me.

I'm sure White still has something left, certainly enough to toss Phil freaking Costa around.
