Philly Enquirer: What if Wentz had Prescott's supporting cast?

Wentz is bigger, with a bigger arm and he is extremely smart. He is just starting to get used to the level of competition which is a much bigger jump for him than it is for Dak, who played college in the best conference in college football. Wentz has a much higher ceiling based on just his physical characteristics alone.
No that is incorrect. Dak is much more physical and mobile than Wentz which makes him a much more difficult QB for defenses to stop. I would also argue that Dak has certain traits that cannot be coached or taught. MUCH MUCH higher ceiling for Dak all things considered.

Again, people said a lot of the same things about guys like Mallet, Osweiler, and Ryan Leaf because they fall in love with "measureables". As far as intelligence, Prescott and Wentz aren't that far apart. DP is 25 and Wentz is 29 on the wonderlic. Extremely smart would be a Romo type, who scored a 37. I like Wentz as a player, but to pretend that it's some boat race in his favor at this point is just kind of silly.

Here's more of that funny stuff I keep hearing from all the Wentz lovers. The fact is, all of the evidence we've seen over the last several weeks paints a very different picture; he simply hasn't played that well.

So this is all that's left. Lame cliches and generalizations. "Extremely smart", "much higher ceiling", "bigger arm", superior "physical characteristics ". LOL.

I'm surprised there wasn't something about "leadership" or "elevating the play of his teammates" sprinkled in there. Oh wait, he'd actually have to engineer a game winning drive to qualify for those particular cliches.

If their WR's actually had hands they would already be good. I think they don't go downfield as much with the dropsies worries. Makes no sense, though.. Wentz' numbers on deep passes is actually not bad. I don't think they took a shot past 20 yards yesterday. Not how I would attack this defense. I'd go right at the CB'S/S not named Jones and Claiborne. They are not a bad team at all. That defense is sick.

This logic kind of reminds me of the opening game of the 1994 season. I was at a sports bar, watching the game with my brother, and around a gaggle of fans. A blowhard Steeler fan walks in, and sees me in an Emmitt Smith jersey, and proceeds to tell me that the Steelers were going to kick the Cowboys rearends. I laughed at him and said, we'll see - they actually play games for a reason.

As the Cowboys unleashed their butt kicking of the Steelers that day, the Cowboy fans (myself included) got louder and louder. This Steeler fan got madder and madder, which made me laugh. Finally, in the third quarter, he turns to me and says, "If this game was played in the 1970's, the Steelers would be winning." That drew the biggest laugh from me of the day. I went to a jukebox, and was able to call up Jethro Tull's Living In the Past.

Needless to say, the fourth quarter was pretty quiet after the guy left the bar.

One thing surprising about Wentz is that he doesn't have the feel in the pocket as Dak who slides so well to avoid pressure.

What source? I don't know, subtraction? o_O Another stat where Dallas and Prescott blow away Wentz is drive success rate, where Dallas and Dak are #1 and Philly is #18. The QB has a ton to do with that. Wentz and Prescott aren't even in the same conversation with respect to how they've played so far this season.

What source? The one that explains that point differential means a quarterback is doing it alone compared to having talent around him.
You're not the authority. I'm asking you to produce one who interprets the stats the way you do.
Fact is Dak has more talent surrounding him than Wentz. Of course, that factors into how good he is. Now, that doesn't mean he isn't good. But you can't look at stats in isolation. The stats indicate how good a player is but also how good a team a quarterback may have.

As has been told us ad nauseum, Romo is good, but he can't do it alone. He needs help. Similarly, Dak is good, but he can't do it alone. He has help.

And as for them not being in the same conversation, most football experts would disagree with you and would tell you that Dak has the better ensemble around him. Just because some Cowboys fans don't want to admit that doesn't make it any less true.

Check the site who comes up with the stats. That source. Their stats are as authoritative as any out there. The Eagles having crap skill players isn't my problem. Draft better. Check New England. They've had spares at O skill for 15 years outside of an older Randy Moss.

I'm not asking you about the stats. I'm asking you about the interpretation of the stats. Do the stats tell you that the quarterback ratings are reflective of the team they have around them. Don't miss what I'm asking you. You said 17 points means that Dak is doing it alone, and it has nothing to do with having a better offense than Wentz. I asked you what source did/do you use to come to that conclusion.

I can look at stats to tell me that one quarterback had more interceptions than another. I can conclude that the quarterback who threw more interceptions is more mistake prone than the one with fewer interceptions. But that may not be the case. Maybe the quarterback who threw more interceptions tossed two Hail Marys - one just before half time and the other at the end of the game. Maybe the one with more interceptions had a receiver who slipped. That information is critical in rendering a decision that one is more mistake prone than another based on stats.

Maybe that's not your problem, but it is when you're making a claim about stats and don't have addition information to support your conclusion. :)

You can revisit the draft and see who has more upside. There is a reason that Wentz was rated so high. As for mobility, Wentz was a good rusher. It hasn't been asked to do it at the pro level.

You most certainly referred to the stats, and they're quite clear on what they imply if you know how to read basic English. Like many, you're simply making up excuses.

The Eagles may be a year away from throwing the ball down the field but when they do, Wentz is going to be very hard to stop.

Their offense runs the way it does because:

1. Wentz is a rookie and Peterson is protecting him and
2. They don't have any receivers who can get down the field

I'm sure the Eagles will be working on this starting this coming offseason.
They said the same about Blake Bortles too. Until he shows it the projection is off base.

For what it's worth Dallas has a better Oline, RB, WR and TE so yeah, Dak is in a much better situation on Offense.
Saying that, cry me a river, eagles suck.

Actually, stats aren't an issue of English but of mathematics.

And it's quite reasonable and logical to ask for a source to interpret stats. That is what statistical analysis is all about. :)

All you had to say is you don't have the information I seek. That would have sufficed. :)

Some fans act as if admitting that makes Dak less of a quarterback.
