Yeah their cap hell will hurt for a while. They should attempt to trade Eli and get something out of him to a contender if he has anything left on his contract. If not cut him loose and save the cap hit.

I felt they should have this year before the trade deadline. But I think loyalty and reward for past accolades allowed Eli to have some say over the decision. Not the smartest business move, but a classy move for your player.

But I think he's gone next year and the question isn't whether they get anything for him at this point.

Jerry Reese put them in cap hell attempting to save his own job and they let him do it.

They look to be hurting for a few years now.

So you like those Eagirls drafts huh?
There is more to just drafting for a GM.

Trades are another avenue and Roseman has developed that skill nicely.

If Jerry Jones pulls any of these off, it would be his best since getting Terry Glenn.

- Gets 2nd round pick for washed up Donovan McNabb
- Gets Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2012 2nd round pick for Kevin Kolb
-Gets DeMeco Ryans + 2012 3rd round pick for a 2012 3rd and 4th.
-Gets Darren Sproles for a 2014 4th round pick
-Trades Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell to acquire the 8th pick in the draft; cleans up cap and dumps Chip Kelly acquisitions and started the Wentz move up
-Trades Sam Bradford to Minnesota for a 1st and 4th
-Gets Timmy Jernigan and a 3rd round pick for a 3rd round pick

Jones cannot even sniff a trade and Roseman has made nearly forty trades in roughly five years where he had more control.

I don't think Peterson had all that much influence over the ultimate decision myself. I also think that no coach would lose his job after one year with a rookie quarterback.

And on the flip side, getting that #1 pick from the Vikings for Sam Bradford was very fortunate and bailed them out of a hole too. That move also looks like genius right now.

Yeah remember when they had Sam to a huge contract, just drafted Wentz, and then signed Chase Daniel to a pretty hefty deal for a backup? We were all laughing at them and how they could afford all that! Then their GM went Kevin Costner and unloaded Bradford and the other silly contracts and looked like a genius. I'm jealous I have to admit it.....

Roseman has done a great job since they gave him the run of the ship back. He deserves credit for turning things around so well and so quickly.

And their move to hire Jim Schwartz when Buffalo stupidly let him go to screw up their franchise with the Ryans was another smart move. I remember thinking that maybe we should have scooped him up back then, but "In Rod We Trust", right?

Would love to have had Schwartz. But that's not in JG's wheelhouse as he doesn't have any known link to him or really any other coach that isn't retired now from his playing days. I actually like Marinelli however. When he has a pass rusher and 2 quality LB's his defense is pretty good.

I don't. It's too inconsistent in my opinion. Much like this whole staff. Up and down with little consistency.

And it appears to be smoke and mirrors and ultimately reliant on one injury prone player. A recipe for disaster.

The saddest part for me is that they now finally have the pass rush they've needed for so long and they still can't field a consistent defense.

I think it's your reading comprehension that's lacking Skippy. NO ONE said Sproles was as good as Zeke.

We lost our special teams captain AND our kicker

It's debatable whether Peter's is as good as Smith. Point is he is the most important player on our line and he's gone for the year

Darby was/is our best CB. Our defensive backfield was a huge question mark. Patrick Robinson was putrid in the preseason. Rasul Douglas is a rookie. He was signed to sure that up and very quickly showed on the few plays he did get in on that he is an excellent CB. Needless to say it could have been a devastating loss if not for the play of Robinson and Douglas.

Hick being on the same level as Lee is debatable too. He's a VERY smart MLB so not quite understanding the mental comparison. Where they are on the same level is their propensity to be injured.

I think the point that Eagles fans are trying to make is that we have had some VERY significant injuries too and at the same positions the Cowboys have had, so comparisons are being made on that level not the player's individual skill levels which by the way are also comparable so stop with the nonsense.

Lastly, the comment that the Eagles have "done nothing for so long' is absurd. The cowboys have 2 playoff wins in 20 years. Que SB wins statement from cowboys fans.

Times yours.
Dallas has the last playoffs win in the division..... Again eagles haven't done nothing lately. No need to talk rings y'all struggle to even make the playoffs lately. Dallas 2 out of 3 years.

You can keep living in your fantasy world, I get it. Eagles fans are delusional and have no idea what it means to be successful in this league. Must be a sad life pulling for a team that just can't get it done. Meanwhile I have seen the hard times but also have enjoyed watching my team be the last man standing...... More then once. I have to tell you it's the greatest feeling in the world, something you eagle fans will never know haha garbage franchise

Odds are you have no idea what you are talking about...... Actually that's a fact now.

Odds are you are an undercover Cowboys fan haha I wouldn't cheer for a garbage franchise like the eagles either. You from Philly and must act the part. That's why you are on a cowboys forum with all these great folks

Whatever Carnak. I guess you're so mentally endowed you can see the future. I bow to you Oh great Cowboy fan NOT!!! Listen, You can keep laying out all your drivel all you want. One and done in your last 2 out of 3 playoff appearances so that's not exactly something to brag about either especially last year. Same old schtick. Eagle fans except nothing less from condescending fans like you. What will you say when we do win the SB? It will happen. Things are lining up pretty good this year. We even have the NFL on our side according to you guys. Whatever it takes. I really don't care.

And I have no problem pulling for the local team. Through thick and thin. I don't need to root for a winner to feel good about myself like most 'boy fans around here ( in the NE). So you can stick all that bull puckey where *** sun **** ******

At least we made the playoffs and won which you failed to do a how long. You wanna talk facts Cowboys is your daddy. Y'all haven't won anything in almost 60 years...... The same year Cowboys became a team. Y'all ain't winning a Superbowl, you think beating a bunch of nobodies makes y'all good. Haha silly eagles fan.

Another history lesson for you. You keep talking Dallas only has 2 playoff wins, guess who one of those wins were against? Here is a hint, afterwards thanks team got rid of their franchise QB for a has been and built the dream team...... How did that work out haha.

Were the Eagle RB, LT, and LB also 1st team All Pro?

The Cowboys didn't just lose three starters, they lost the three best in the entire league at playing their position.

The Cowboys lost arguably three of the five best players on their team. Can the Eagles say that about their injured starters? I think not.

Yeah and that "one" playoff win was your first win in 15 years. Good job. As you well know being a cowboy fan, most teams don't make it to the playoffs year after year. "Ya'll ain't winning anything either as Da boys are in decline so just prepare yourself for that for the next decade. What a waste of a great RB and QB.

And yeah we're beating a bunch of nobodies. Does that include your team next week? Give me a break.

By the way, I NEVER liked McNabb. We actually got rid of him a couple years too late.

Umh, yes they can actually. This has been factually stated several times.

The Cowboys also can't say that they can handle losing players while the Eagles obviously can. That's the point.

One team hasn't missed a beat despite their losses and the other is running off the rails.

That's the point.

Take the eagles 3 best players besides the QB off the team and tell me how they turn out. I’m not even sure the eagles have 3 all-pro players so really there is zero comparison

That's part of the problem. This team relies on all-Pros to outperform the opposition. Successful teams in the cap era seem to have a few key players and a lot of serviceable pieces who can make plays, and then coaches who can utilize those serviceable players week in and week out. Guess which part of that equation this team does not have?

The eagles front office didn’t crap the bed this past off season.

This past off season was a massive failure of epic proportions. They had a 13-3 team and did NOTHING to improve it This season.

In fact the team took steps back this off-season.

Prime example—- our team can’t stop the run when Sean Lee is out. That’s why our defense sucks.

Over the past 5 seasons who was our defenses second best run defender, behind Lee? The answer is Barry Church and he is gone.

The eagles are a more well rounded and talented team. Their 53 is better than the cowboys 53 overall. The cowboys are too top heavy.

When we signed Dez with that huge contract in 2015, this is expected -- we don't have a whole lot of option improving the team other than draft.
