3) Jordan Willis/DE/Kansas State: Teams love versatile athletes who can rush the passer. Willis proved he was the premiere athlete at the defensive end position during the combine when he timed 4.53s in the 40 and 6.85s in the short shuttle as well as touching 39 inches in the vertical jump after weighing in at 255 pounds. He then went on and showed his versatility at the Wildcats pro day, looking flawless in both defensive line and linebacker drills. I think it will be a stretch for Willis to end up in the late part of Round 1 but would expect him to be off the board during the top half of the second frame. Willis worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars this week, will be working out for the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Bucsin the coming weeks and has a visit to Tampa Bay on his schedule. The Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys are also showing a lot of interest in Willis

From Tony Pauline......

30 years from now when kids are asking their parents what it was like when Jordan was playing they will be referring to Willis and not Michael Jordan.

So can we get an actual thread with who Dallas is setting up meetings with? Or at least update OP in this thread? This just became a stickied catch all

4) Tarell Basham/DE/Ohio: Basham is another athletic pass rusher with versatility, but the big attraction here is growth potential. Just under 6-foot-4, the belief is Basham can pack on pounds while keeping his speed (4.7s in the 40 at the combine) and lateral quickness (4.35s in the short shuttle). As proven during Senior Bowl week, he can rush the quarterback out of a three-point stance or standing over tackle. Basham has already worked out with the New England Patriots and has a workout with the Dallas Cowboys scheduled.

Another defensive lineman who they reportedly have interest in, but not necessarily bringing in for a visit, is Notre Dame DL Isaac Rochell. Rochell was recently on PFT Live.

As to the issue that always slides to the top of the stack in the weeks before the selection process, Rochell said he has attracted the most interest so far from the Cowboys and Panthers.

Rochell isn’t expected to be drafted until the third day. He ranks as the #18 defensive tackle at Walter Football, and the #25 defensive end at CBS Sports. This indicates what many scouts are saying, he is somewhat of a tweener and can work at defensive end or defensive tackle, or possibly as a 3-4 defensive end for some teams.

Several scouting reports make him sound like a fit for how Rod Marinelli has used some players like Tyrone Crawford, Jack Crawford and David Irving. A defensive end on the strong side to play the run who can also slide inside on passing downs.

Lance Zierlien at NFL.com says:

BOTTOM LINE

Lunch-pail player from a blue-collar background whose effort and motor will make him a favorite of coaches he plays for. What Rochell offers in effort, he lacks as a skilled pass rusher, and his inability to get after the quarterback will create a difficult challenge for him. While his best fit might be a 3-4 defensive end, he could be viewed as rotational defensive lineman with little to no third-down value. Rochell has third-day draft value with eventual starter potential if he can sharpen his pass-rush tools.

Effort and motor, with the potential to play end or tackle, and he was a team captain at Notre Dame. For a third-day kind of guy, sounds a lot like the Cowboys profile for defensive linemen.

Meh. I'd be interested as UDFA. Little to no pass rush ability doesnt have much draft value IMO.

Rochell is a big, stiff, try hard guy with zero quick twitch. He plays hard, but is at best a LDE on run downs, and would need to kick inside on pass downs. He's fine as a UDFA, but not more than that.

I think they want to beef him up for 1T or rotational interior guy. I don't think there's any intent on playing him at end. Obviously a project. I'm guessing they really like his effort and motor, and think he has some tools where he'd have some decent value in a year or two.

I watched a game where Ledbetter was absolutely destroying the Texas A&M OG.

Disagreed :( I'm not sure which game you were watching.... but I just watched the breakdown from 2016. He had some decent snaps over the LG, but the RG absolutely handled him outside of a few plays. I'm not really sure why they didn't line him up over the LG more...

He looked like he had some good strength though, always held his ground. And it was just one game but he looked really slow off the ball. Pretty noticeable over Maliek, since I'm guessing they're liking this guy at 3T.

Meh.
