Fans and former players in good standing are different....I understand criticism, but acts like this? He's just trying to stay relative after pissing away a good gig.
Regardless of his standing and his perceived desire for relevance, he is saying what most of us think. The heat has been turned up on Jerry like never before and I for one will enjoy watching the Jones family’s reaction. Everyone is reporting and figuring out that the Cowboys are a marketing organization that occasionally tries to win football games. The financial bottom line is more important than winning. The charade is up. At this point my only hope as a fan is that they sell the team when Jerry croaks.

I get what you're saying, you don't get what I'm saying.

As The Playmaker reported, we need to get back the glory, referring to the glory days of yesteryear when the Cowboys had an elite offense, a powerhouse.

1. QB, 1st player in 1989 draft in Aikman
2. Michael Irvin, high 1st round pick in 1988
3. Emmitt Smith, superstar RB, a consistent home run hitter, drafted in 1st round 1990
4. Alvin Harper, WR 1st round pick 1991
5. Darryl Johnston, FB, 2nd round pick 1989
6. Jay Novacek, TE, best free agent pick up
7. Kelvin Martin, 3rd receiver who always seemed to find an opening

-- The 2024 Cowboys had an overrated, over-paid QB who does not have "it."
-- A star WR in Cee Dee Lamb
-- A good undrafted RB, a single hitter in Dowdle and no home run hitter, as the team ignored the need for a star RB
-- Unreliable 2nd wide receiver
-- A Hunter Luepke whom we rarely saw with the ball
-- An underperforming 3rd year TE, who was not getting open, not getting separation like Novacek.
-- Unreliable 2nd and 3rd wide receivers

Irvin misses facts that his team had superstars on offense, everywhere. The talent differential from his glory days' teams and this team is enormous and no coaching can overcome the lack of talent.

This team needs an explosive RB and at least one receiver who can come in as a rookie and get open. Gallop and T Williams did that as rooks. Tolbert has been a big disappointment, even past his rookie year. I have no problem drafting RB, WR in 1st two rounds, but both must be explosive players. Ashton Jeanty would be a rocket engine for the offense.

Also, another point must be made: Jimmy Johnson brought in free agents and made trades to make the team better. The following starting players on the 1992 championship team were not drafted by the Cowboys: DE Haley, DT Casillas, FS: T. Everrett, SS James Washington, G John Gesek, TE Novacek. Mark Tuinei the LOT and guard Nate Newton were free agent signees by Tom Landry.

Now, the team must do better with 2nd round picks. Need immediate contributors, who are healthy, free of drug history, big-game performers, no projects. Plug and play.

Deion Sanders does not need the Dallas Cowboys. Get over it. No one cares you’re sick. And no one here cares about the Commanders and Eagles. Irvin, you can afford a professional hair stylist. Part with a few dollars. And stop saying “we” in deference to the Cowboys. You are not a member of the Dallas Cowboys organization. How the hell does Caitlin Clark get in the conversation?

All the more reason that maybe, between us fans and our former players, we can surely come up with $10 bil+ to basically try to buy the Cowboys and sort of run the team like the Packers do.

I love it when Irvin is talking himself sober.

Highlights of today’s episode of ‘What Coke can do for You’ is as follows:
  1. Irvin was at a casino that he can’t pronounce.
  2. Mike defines 40 years as a generation and believes life expectancy is 100 years.
  3. He’s clearly afraid of the Swifties and Caitlin Clark fanatics – so am I.
  4. Mike gave us the brainteaser, “Brian Schottenheimer, I don’t know this man, but I do know man, and I know man”.
  5. Mike prophesizes potential backlash per this hire which will culminate in players coming at Schotty using the n-word. Interesting on multiple fronts. I know, he wasn't being literal but I still find it amusing.
  6. Irvin has real trophies and is upset at the downfall of the Sears and Roebuck and Blockbuster empires.
  7. God called at about the 15:22 minute mark interrupting what could have a been a complete career ending comment coming from our host, the Rev. Dr. Michael Jerome Irvin (this was evangelist portion of prototypical Irvin rant).
Obviously, I don’t like Michael Irvin. I think he was an OUTSTANDING FOOTBALL PLAYER, and I’d select him first in a playground pickup game ALL DAY, but he’s a jackass. Regardless, he’s still heavily invested in protecting the Cowboys brand. I think he’s right with his perspective on how this went down, and you know what, I even find his passion for caring about something he was part of commendable, and rare today. Keep speakin' your words Big Mike.

Thank God Michael Irvin was a Cowboy. Having him play for any other team would have been an absolute travesty.

Michael Irvin is p/I'd but everything he is saying is facts!

I have said this for 30 years: Quoting myself....."The Dallas Cowboys have not been the same since Micheal Irvin retired" Many will say Jimmy Johnson and I will agree but Irvin played with such HEART & PASSION. Irvin was a headcase when he played but he demanded himself and his teammates to play their ***** off. He practiced hard and played in games the same way.

You sir are a moron. Irvin is one of the ALL-Time GREATS in Cowboys History. He speaks with HEART and PASSION. I would even say, Irvin IS Mr. #88
No offense to Drew Pearson but Irvin took 88 to greater heights.
This organization has N-E-V-E-R been the same since Mr. #88 retired. Again, no offense to Jimmy Johnson who was a wonderful coach and a master of building the Team of the 90's. Irvin was THE HEART on the field and even in practices. He demanded himself and his teammates to play hard.

Jerry and even former Dallas Coaches should have hired Irvin as a WR coach. This franchise is so lacking passion, discipline and heart.

Obviously you never watched him play …. I’ve never seen a player play with more heart than him… he is exactly right … the players are not held accountable and not to the same standards as when he played. If you don’t know … you don’t know
Reports were Irvin played just as hard at practice. He is a Dallas Cowboy for life a HOF!
