I think it’s a must win for the team psyche. They don’t win against top teams. A win here on the road will do tremendous effects on the team morale.
Excellent observation. Almost as if they’re disappointed if there isn’t one.'Bazz, I'm thinking most of the meltdowns seem to come from those constantly predicting a meltdown...lol
WrongNo, they don't. They have to win a bunch of other games before that would happen or we'd have to lose several games. You don't win home-field advantage halfway through the season.
This I can agree with. It’s a must win game for the sanity of the Zone.
Anyone who is not an arsonist should root for the Cowboys this week.
You’ll see almost all of our local pyros will be voting against the boys in the poll this week. This I can agree with.
It's the most important game of next week for us.It’s not a must win. If we lose we will basically be 3 games out of 1st place with head to head tiebreaker . But we’ll still be current 6th seed for Wildcard.
A win on the other hand vaults us into not only 1st place in division but tied for 1st seed in NFC. And brings us immediate respect to be more of a contender than pretender.
Tell me again how important this game is??
Why so intent on lessening the importance of this game? It's the most important game of next week for us.
I just get tired of the must-win thing. Many don't seem to even know what it means. Some have been saying it since the first game of the season. Why so intent on lessening the importance of this game?
It doesn’t have to be a must win game to carry great importance.I just get tired of the must-win thing. Many don't seem to even know what it means. Some have been saying it since the first game of the season.
I think every game is important, and losing this game obviously will make other victories (and losses by the Eagles) necessary if we're to have any shot of winning the division and home-field advantage, but there's a lot to play. Both the Eagles and us have some tough games ahead that could decide both of those things no matter who wins this game. Obviously, I'd like the leg up, but there's no reason to count us out if we don't get it.
Who would like that? Just because I don't think it's the most important game of the season doesn't mean that winning it isn't important. No reason to be extreme. It doesn’t have to be a must win game to carry great importance.
If you like our position at 5-3 as the 6th seed and 2 games back( 3 with tiebreaker)more than in 1st place and tied for 1st seed then please argue that position by all means .
Didn’t say it was “most “ important game of the season. Don’t read more into what I’m saying.Who would like that? Just because I don't think it's the most important game of the season doesn't mean that winning it isn't important. No reason to be extreme.
In a sense but mathematical it’s not a must win which ultimately means win or go home which isn’t the case. This must be one of those millennial things I don’t understand.
Of course it’s a must win!
- For the NFC East
- Will determine homefield advantage in the Playoffs
- Cowboys first shot to beat a legit contender, esp after 49ers debacle
Unlike every other sport, the NFL season is so short that every game is important. Must win? Maybe not, but there are limited opps for notching victories.Next week's game against Philadelphia is not a must-win game. It would be a good game for us to win, especially considering that it's on the road against our main rival for the division. However, the Eagles have a tough slate of games, starting with us and then ending with us. It is likely our home game against them will be must-win, but this week isn't ... unless, of course, the Eagles don't lose any more games this year. If that's the case, though, it probably wouldn't matter if we beat them twice unless someone here thinks we're not going to lose another game this year. This season is a long way from being decided. Who would have thunk that after thumping us the 49ers would lose their next three?
Why? You're reading more into what I'm saying. I don't disagree with what you've said here, but you basically accused me of liking "our position at 5-3 as the 6th seed and 2 games back( 3 with tiebreaker)more than in 1st place and tied for 1st seed."Didn’t say it was “most “ important game of the season. Don’t read more into what I’m saying.
This is an important game because of the ramifications. It’s an opportunity to elevate ourselves to not only top of division but the conference .
Can’t think of a more important game up until this point. If we lose season is of course still on but we will be playing catch-up and ultimately might need some help to win division.
I'd say considering a non-elimination game must-win is more of a millennial thing. Those of us who've been around for a while know what must-win means. This must be one of those millennial things I don’t understand.

Then Im not sure you fully grasp the meaning of “ must win” if you only identify with obvious elimination games. Why? You're reading more into what I'm saying. I don't disagree with what you've said here, but you basically accused me of liking "our position at 5-3 as the 6th seed and 2 games back( 3 with tiebreaker)more than in 1st place and tied for 1st seed."
We all seem to take others' arguments to the extreme in order to make a point. My whole point in starting this thread was simply to say don't call the game must-win, because it isn't. It isn't an elimination game, not even for the division or home-field advantage. That's all. It doesn't mean that we won't be playing catch-up if we lose or won't possibly need some help.
