division game where youre behind the team youre playing is pretty much a no brainer must win game
Again, a must-win is a game you cannot lose if you want to make the playoffs. It is an elimination game.

It's always a must win against the Eagles, especially out here in eagle land

IMO, and maybe I am biased, I see them losing in Dallas, In KC, and Maybe even in Seatle (hard place to win for road teams). I also see them splitting Bill and Niners at home... they have a hard time covering running quarterbacks. With all that being said... I think they should view this game as a must win.

And honestly if we steal this road win and win at home in a few weeks, we are set to own the division. Again just my humble opinion..
I don't know. This season, they seem to just find ways to win. Maybe that will run out for them, especially with this slate. I think there's a good chance even if we lose Sunday that we'll be in position to at least pull even with them when next we play just because of how difficult their schedule is during this stretch.

as defined by you? lose the game you lose the division
No. That is the definition of must-win. It has always been the definition of must-win. Go look it up. Only fans like ours have turned it into a definition for a non-elimination game, and I think we've done that because of our many failures to get to the NFC Championship Game. We feel this is must-win, not because it eliminates us from the playoff race, but because we're used to our team losing when it makes the playoff. So we've changed must-win to must get home-field advantage.

If it was an elimination game, then you have a point.

Traditionally, a must-win is an elimination game. I’m not even arguing that. Dallas can lose and still have a chance at the division depending on how things play out later.

Like I said earlier, if Dallas wants to host two playoff games(divisional and championship), then this game is a must-win. You can’t lose to a divisional team that will be up two games on us(with tiebreaker) and expect to get the #1 or #2 seed.

This game is extremely important for seeding but not for a playoff berth.

sounds mostly like a fan prepping for a loss, typical Dallas loser mentality

This is a must win game for the Cowboys to get home field advantage in the Playoffs. Dallas plays much better at home.

Must win game? No absolutely not. The season goes on no matter if we win or lose. Again I could care less how many games we win or lose during the season as long as we make the playoffs.

To many people worry about winning during the regular season. It doesn't matter if we go undefeated during the regular season if we go one and done in the playoffs.

I dont worry about Dallas not making the playoffs as they are good enough to do that and I dont care if its divisional champs or wild card. The biggest problem Dallas has is it doesn't seem to have that next level of play once the playoffs start that the better teams seem to have. That is where Dallas has to improve their play.

And this is typical jerk mentality that many on this board seem to have instead of being able to have a discussion. Just because I'm explaining what must-win is supposed to mean has nothing to do with expecting or wanting my team to lose.

Seems to me that the loser mentality would be those who believe that if we lose then we have no chance at home-field advantage with eight games remaining in our season.

The sure do find a way to win ... they could easily be 5-3... but then again good teams find ways to win. I hope we smack them Sunday. And I hope Dak has the best game of his career, and as an anti Dak believer, I can come here and say he played great. I just wanna see it first.

Still a lot of time left but every divisional game is important to every team.

When ever you are trailing a team in the standings and you are playing them. It is pretty much a must win.

I get what you are saying. But we do not want to be 2 games down and really 3 since it is a head to head game.
A divisional game against a divisional team you are trailing. If the goal is to win the division then of course, this is a must-win game. If that's not a goal then you are looking to settle with a wild card seed.

It's so unnecessary to resort to insults in the middle of a discussion where people are simply giving their opinion on what a term means.

"Must-win". I think, at this point in the season, that term is just a shortened phrase with a longer meaning.

A win next week puts Dallas in control of their own destiny. Of course, they could lose that control in the following weeks. Also, it will likely make the re-match a "must-win" for Philthy.

I do think, for Dallas, it is a matter of proving they are amongst the top in the NFC. So, yeah, as close to must-win as you can get at this point.

when youre setting games up as losing is ok and you put yourself further behind the top team in the NFC and NFC East it falls more and more improbable. You must win the games that matter as much as this one does.
