there's really no such thing is pretty much,,,, that would mean both your arguments have validity... Now it might have a negative effect on us winning the division but it doesn't change anything in regards to the playoff hopes and aspirationsWhen ever you are trailing a team in the standings and you are playing them. It is pretty much a must win.
I get what you are saying. But we do not want to be 2 games down and really 3 since it is a head to head game.
Well that’s an odd reaction. Why would anybody meltdown since there been so many Conference game appearances and wins in the last quarter century? We could run the table, but if we don’t make the NFCCG, there’ll be a meltdown.

Christ,……some fans have such unreasonable expectation from a team known as Americas Team
EVERY game is a must win if the Cowboys want to get HFA, if they get through their tough schedule and make the playoffs.Next week's game against Philadelphia is not a must-win game. It would be a good game for us to win, especially considering that it's on the road against our main rival for the division. However, the Eagles have a tough slate of games, starting with us and then ending with us. It is likely our home game against them will be must-win, but this week isn't ... unless, of course, the Eagles don't lose any more games this year. If that's the case, though, it probably wouldn't matter if we beat them twice unless someone here thinks we're not going to lose another game this year. This season is a long way from being decided. Who would have thunk that after thumping us the 49ers would lose their next three?

Unless you’re being sarcastic…
yeah 3 wins behind the division leader after week 9 would be no problem at all, sureNext week's game against Philadelphia is not a must-win game. Everyone here wants to win. And whether anyone here sets games up as losing is OK doesn't matter. We don't have mind control over the team.when youre setting games up as losing is ok and you put yourself further behind the top team in the NFC and NFC East it falls more and more improbable. You must win the games that matter as much as this one does.
2.5 games. If we win when Philly visits, that clears 1.5 because of the head to head. However, even if Philly loses one of its gamut of tough matchups between our two games, unless they fall to the 49ers, they will remain ahead of us by virtue of the fact that we've lost to two NFC teams. However, the way San Fran is playing, that's looking less likely, but if they fall to Seattle and we beat the Seahawks, it would have the same effect. There's a lot of unknowns that lie in front of us. Of course, that's not why this is must-win. It's not must-win because it is not an elimination game, but even if you are looking at must-win from the standpoint of winning the division or home-field advantage, that's not out the window if we lose.yeah 3 wins behind the division leader after week 9 would be no problem at all, sure
When you look in our remaining schedule it’s pretty close to a must win. If the Cowboys lose, they’ll drop two games behind Philly with 9 games left, with them holding a tiebreaker. It’s not going to be easy making up those two games with our remaining schedule. It’s going to leave us with little room for error. We’ll be spending the second half of the season depending on other teams to knock off Philly. Granted we have a long way to go, but this is a critical game on Sunday. A win would put us in a tie for the NFC East, with a tiebreaker over Philly. A loss would put us two games back with them holding a tiebreaker. That’s a pretty sizable swing between winning and losing on Sunday. Plus losing on Sunday would be a pretty big confidence deflator for the Cowboys. It will be yet another barometer game that we’ve lost this season.Next week's game against Philadelphia is not a must-win game. Although it isn't likely that those remaining games will be must-wins as far as the definition goes (in that they won't be elimination games), those two games may be made up by the time we finish our game with them at home. If they beat us at their place and don't lose to at least one of KC, Buffalo and San Fran, then they deserve their status. If we lose at Philly then don't beat the Giants, Panthers, Commanders and Seahawks (easily toughest of the four, but we get them at home), then we won't deserve to have a shot at equaling their record when they come to Dallas. When you look in our remaining schedule it’s pretty close to a must win. 'Bazz, I'm thinking most of the meltdowns seem to come from those constantly predicting a meltdown...lol
If we go down 2.5 games after Sunday with 9 games remaining, it’s going to be very difficult for us to win the division. Granted, Philly has a tough remaining schedule as well but they’re going to be in real good position with a win on Sunday. If the Cowboys get down by 3 games with Philly owning a tiebreaker, it’s going to be pretty much over and we’ll be battling for a wildcard. The Cowboys confidence is going to be pretty low if they lose on Sunday, especially if it’s a decisive loss. We can’t afford to lose another measuring stick game and feel like we still have a good shot to go deep in the playoffs.Although it isn't likely that those remaining games will be must-wins as far as the definition goes (in that they won't be elimination games), those two games may be made up by the time we finish our game with them at home. Then, if we are counting HFA or the division as must-wins, we'd need to follow that by beating the Bills, Dolphins and Lions, which is part of our tough run that starts with Seattle, before wrapping up with the formerskins. I absolutely want to win this game, but even for HFA and the division it's not must-win. It increases our chances at both of those things, of course, but so would have beating the Cards and 49ers. The way some look at must-wins, you pretty much have to say every game is a must-win.
No, they don't. They have to win a bunch of other games before that would happen or we'd have to lose several games. You don't win home-field advantage halfway through the season.?
We lose Philly gets home field throughout simple as that so it’s a must win hundred percent.
Yeah, a large contingent of posters here do little aside from talk about other fans.'Bazz, I'm thinking most of the meltdowns seem to come from those constantly predicting a meltdown...lol
