If they suspended Sean Payton for 1 yr then Belicheat should get the same + draft picks.

The refs said they inspected all the balls before kickoff with a gauge and they were all legit. At least 11 and maybe 12 of the Pats balls were at least 2 psi under the limit at half time.

None of the Indy balls were deflated at all at halftime or after the game. That is a full 4 hours after inspection out in the weather.

Therefore the Pats balls had to be tampered with after inspection, because it wasn't the weather or the refs not doing their jobs

Your response is logical except I have one issue. The playoffs have been a disaster for referees. They have blown multiple games. So why is everyone in such a hurry to believe them when multiple reports have surfaced saying refs are lazy in this? The NFL has had a ref issue so why not cover?

Because a pregame inspection at your own pace is quite different than making split-second calls in real-time during game action. Or are you seriously asking us to believe those two actions are the same?

I know you weren't addressing me..but...
I think we are going discover the psi of each ball was not measured....though the balls were inspected visually and by hand.

No I'm not asking if both are the same and I'm not making Pats excuses. I just hate witch hunts. The point is that the refs inspects before every game supposedly...though a Philly ball boy days they don't. In this case the refs said they did their job. So did Brady and so did Hoodie. So why jump to judgement when any one could be lying? That's my issue. If I had a hunch Id think the refs went with what Brady said felt good but didn't inspect. It's as plausible as this happening for years and him getting caught

Exactly!!! There are so many variables yet people are driven to worst case scenario

He said in his presser that he likes a ball at exactly 12.5 pounds and that is "the perfect ball" for him.

He then says he never noticed the game balls being 15% lighter than regulation.

These two comments don't make sense. If you cannot tell if a ball is inflated to 13 pounds or if it is at 11 pounds, how the hell do you know you like a ball at 12.5? I mean, he said in his presser that he cant tell the difference between an 11 pound ball and a 13 pound ball, so how does he know that he likes a ball a "exactly 12.5 pounds" as he was quoted as saying several times?

Your honor, the witness is contradicting himself.

Lmao, He's not fooling anybody but himself,he's a joke, the Difference between him and Tony is he try's to use any advantage possible to win,Tony just plays his heart out no matter what condition, that's a REAL QB! Following in the footsteps of Aikman,Staubach etc,
Sad part is you can just imagine what else that team has done behind the scenes to gain advantage over opponents, they have lost the respect of a lot NFL fans, even some of their own fans.

Unfortunately, only the Cowboys and Commanders get that type of draconian penalty - and for a much more dubious offense.

And Mara was pushing for us to lose draft picks as well.......................and said we got off lucky with just losing cap space...................LMAO

If you get a chance watch the movie " Rush" regarding Austrian Formula One driver Nikki Lauda... He knew how to alter the race performance of the cars by lightening various parts of the frame, engine etc and what each change would do in terms of drag/acceleration/cornering.

Pro QB's can probably hit a 1 foot area at 10 yards 10 out of 10 times so they know exactly how a ball will perform.

I will check that out......................not surprised he knew exactly how to modify his car, an athlete that takes his sport seriously knows how variables affect performance..................Brady was lying his arse off.

Two interesting comments from Brady's press conference.
When asked whether he deflated the balls, Brady said, "I didn't deflate the ball." Of course, at least from the audio I heard, no one asked, "Did you ORDER someone to deflate the balls."
He was also asked "Are you a cheater." His response: "I don't believe I cheat." How do you answer that question any other way than, "No, I don't cheat!"?
I still like him and think he's a great quarterback. But I don't buy it that he didn't know the balls were deflated and didn't order them to be deflated.

Yea, who the hell says "I don't believe I cheated"?

You either did or you didn't, what the hell is up with these vague type responses?

I don't find his contradictory. The refs also handle the balls all game and are he ones in charge of making sure they are properly inflated. They all said during that game that they wouldn't have been able to tell because of the rain, etc. They were just trying to get the ball in play.

Brady tests all the balls before and likes them on the lighter end. During a game, when reading defenses, taking snaps and throwing, I doubt he is thinking "this ball is a lot better and deflated." JMO.

I know many of us already discussed what it means to cheat but I think people are getting WAY ahead of themselves making judgments about who is at fault. Mark Brunell is crying and calling Brady a liar while Dan Marino, Theisman and others are saying they wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

John Madden, Hines Ward, and our very own Troy Aikman thinks it is total BS that Brady didn't know....................I have provided a link to the article below..................Aikman basically calls Brady a liar as well, so is he just crying?

He knew going in they had evidence he had been using balls that weren't inflated to NFL specifications, so his response is understandable, I think.

Yea, he was being vague on purpose.............probably was told by his agent not to make declarative statements that can be used against him later on.

I've seen their statements all day in the press. I just replied to your other post. There are also other HOF guys who said they couldn't tell..Dan Marino and Theismam to name two. So it's not cut and dry. Maybe it's the attorney in me but I'm not going to just join the mob until I see all the facts.

I admit I jumped to conclusions. I'm willing to let the NFL complete its investigation before drawing any final conclusions. But we know two facts:

1. All of the Patriot balls were under inflated by halftime; 11 of them by 2PSI
2. None of the Colt balls were under inflated

The game time temp was 51 °F.

Unless the laws of physics are different on the Pats sideline than the Colts sideline, its hard to explain the pressure difference without human intervention. Even if we assume the Colts balls were initially inflated to the maximum (13.5PSI), a 2PSI reduction due to the temps would bring the final pressure below the minimum allowed. But that is not what the refs found.

If these facts were presented to a grand jury, they would certainly vote to indict (i.e., allow the case to go to court).

But an indictment is not a guilty verdict.

Lauda revolutionized how Formula 1 racing was done. Besides that it's an interesting story of sports competition...

This topic is quite silly... No one is commenting on the fact that it apparently takes 24 brand new footballs just to play an NFL game. When I was younger, we used one ball, for months- even years- and it was just fine! In all seriousness, the chosen footballs for each team are such that each offensive unit can have a set of balls of their preference. They (legally) scuff em and practice with them/break em in for that very purpose. So if one qb and offensive unit prefer their football with less air, sobeit. The other team doesn't have to use it. It's probably an advantage to the other teams' defense, as well. (I think I'd trust Tom Brady's NFL quarterback football preference on a given day as a better performing piece of equipment for the game than an official or some linebacker's choice)
