I never understood why Garret likes the ball first. Then I read that he doesn't really make halftime adjustments and it all made sense.

LLLOOLLL, could see if this was the triplets team. You score first and have the D on the sideline grasping for air and saying this is going to be a long day. But these guys go 3 and out and fire up the D right off the bat.

One could say half-time adjustments + getting the after the half lets you control the pace from there. I'd hate for the opponent to get the ball if they got hot before the half. Rather slow down the game and potentially kill some of their momentum.

It’s been a dumb concept considering we historically start slow. Egos prevail though. An offensive minded head coach doesn’t want to defer first, I’m sure he expects to score first possession.
