There is no possibility that Farve would have led the league in INTs under Jimmy. It just wouldn't happen.

Of course it wouldn't have happened playing with the Great Wall of Dallas and Emmitt Smith in the backfield.

Name a single HOF player the played with Favre on offense in GB. I don't think there were any.

Having said that, HOF players or not, Favre had a wild streak in him that couldn't be held in check.

Man, it's weird, despite me disliking the Steelers due to living in Steelers country; this retirement is a bit upsetting. It's a bit of nostalgia because I remember both he and Big Ben being young prospects with a lot of potential, now one is retired and the other is aging. I remember me and my dad being the only one's in the house hoping for the Steelers to lose. As much as I dislike the team, their defense from about 2004-2008 was just incredible.

Polamalu was a leader of that defense and he did things I've never seen a safety do. No disrespect to Woodson, but Polamalu was just simply better than Woodson.

Can't think of any HOF players on GB's offense during the Favre era. Favre took a lot of gambles primarily due to his arm strength and like with all gamblers you win a lot and lose a lot which is why he's the all-time record holder for both TD passes and int's. He made a lot of great plays and a lot of terrible plays. He'll be a first ballot HOF player based on his all-time numbers. Every time they come up with the Mount Rushmore of QB's Favre's name never comes up.

He could have been held in check if his teams didn't depend on his arm so often. He was such a talented player who could make so many big plays that every team he played for rolled the dice with his arm and it ended up costing them big games most of the time. Favre had the most efficient season of his career in 09 with Minn and Adrian Peterson in the backfield. That kept him in check until that brain dead decision he made in the playoffs against NO. If the Vikings were smart they would have fed the ball to Peterson 35 times in that game instead of putting the game in Favre's hands.

Polamalu is an ESPN creation. He was a SS and was allowed to freelance underneath in a robber role. He was easily exploitable in man. He was not a complete player

It reminds me of Camby in the NBA who won the DPOY despite him being terrible at man, pnr and post defense. He would get weakside blocks that made sportscenter though and hype is more important than skill.

Cowboys would man up Woodson vs Taylor in the slot in addition to all the other stuff he did. He revolutionized how the S was played with his ability to play man as well as zone and run support.

As much as it pains me, I have to go with Polamalu over Woodson. I try to be objective, as difficult as that is when it comes to Dallas-Pittsburgh. Woodson was faster and better in coverage but Polamalu was a playmaker that often destroyed plays singlehandedly. Polamalu was more of a game changer. I would not take him over Ronnie Lott, but he was one of the best safeties I've seen. Polamalu will likely be a 1st ballot HOF selection. Woody will make the ROH but it's unlikely he sees Canton. Cliff Harris made the all 1970s team and had a boatload of honors but he will not make it to Canton either. This could be, in part, due to the very obvious anti-Cowboys bias when it comes to HOF voting (see, e.g., Chuck Howley) but that is an entire thread unto itself. In 1978 I would have said Drew Pearson was better than Lynn Swann. I am more objective at this stage of life and so I would now clearly take Swann over Drew. I still believe Bob Lilly was better than Joe Greene, and many NFL historians would agree (of course, many would not). I have a difficult time (and admit my heart gets in the way) when it comes to Randy White vs. Greene. Of course, Roger over Bradshaw all day, every day. But on this one, I'd have to go with the player in black and gold.

Give me Woody any day of the week and I will be happy. The people picking TP must be young and never saw Woody play.

I loved Woodson. But he couldnt cover a WR if had a blanket. He was awful in coverage IMO.

Troy gets a bad rap for his hair, and the head and shoulders commercials, and his girly voice much like Ware. The dude had a feel for football. Much like Roy W had before they took all the fun away from him.

Now Woody as a tackler? Straight up beast!

Woody played nickel for us until Newman showed up. The man could cover.

You must be confusing him with Roy Williams.

I remember a game againt the 49ers when at one point Darren drops down into the slot one on one with owens.

At the snap he jams him then proceeds to step in front of a slant for a pick.

He was a great hitter and good enough S to play in the slot. TP wasn't on Woodsons level.

I really don't see how anyone could pick Woodson over Polamalu. Really not even close. And Emmitt being better than Barry? I'm not even going to go there....

I'd take Aikman over Farve for almost any team. The only time I'd take Favre would be for a crap team with no line...then his scrambling and gunslinger mentality probably gives me a greater chance to win.

I'd take Troy Polamalu over Woodson for any team, any scheme. Both were winners and effective players, but Polamalu will always be ranked as a greater safety than Woodson in the NFL. Only a Cowboys fan would ever make an argument for Woodson, IMO.

only a steeler troll would actually believe you

there have been many examples of inferior players getting props over those that really deserved it because the media loved them.

Joe Namath being a shining example.
