Pollard is fantastic but we have to let him walk

Absolutely you let him walk. Plenty of running backs in the draft. You draft one on a rookie deal. Hasn't Dallas made enough bad deals on players they could of replaced for much cheaper.

They are gonna cut Zeke. He's the easiest to replace.

Cutting Pollard with no replacement is gonna be tougher to do

This offense is trash w/o Pollard

Franchise him or 3 yr deal for 45 million guaranteed. Can't be longer deal.

Pollard is a difference maker and not just a good RB for this team. If I KNOW I can draft someone like him to replace him.... sure. Problem is draft is a crap shot. Pollard would go in the 1st round the way he's playing now. Anyone here going to draft a RB in the 1st round to replace him if you let him go?

Zeke already knows where the door is will you guys stop sheesh.

Kick him to the curb
Let 'im walk
Can 'is arse

Come on...what other disrespectful unappreciative terminology can we come up with? You zeke haters are oh so clever...surely there' s more. Come on let's pile on!
First of all, 'SteveTheCowboy' what 'unappreciative terminology' did I use?
Nowhere in my comment - or in previous responses (in many threads)about Ezekiel Elliott remaining with Dallas after this season - did I state \ suggest \ want \ advocate for Elliott to be gone from the Cowboys at all.
If anything...I fell prey to the "Cowboys Zone Cowboys capologists" who declared Zeke wiil be gone after 2022 due to his contract and - in their opinions - his player production the last 2 or 3 seasons not being enough to keep him.

My hope for #21 -- he balls out during the playoffs to be a significant factor in the Cowboys win the NFL Championshilp -- resulting in Jones & Jones keeping him on the team.

Zeke is just better at blocking and short yardage because you don't need any Speed to fill those shoes.

If the passing oline was better you could eliminate the need for all the blocking.

There's nobody saying how great Earl Campbell or Barry Sanders was as blockers if ya think about it lmao

There's nobody saying they helped their teams win any championships either..

True

If you can't throw some tds against good teams it's hard to beat good teams

We're kinda scarce in that area this year

Our wrs and tes can make receptions it's scoring tds that's been the issue.

We're just a little one dimensional because why our run oline and run scoring is solid our passing oline and te/wr scoring is a below average

6 years in and not even a sniff of a SB... Right. Maybe you would feel different if it was your own money.
Who the heck do you think Pays the salaries? Keep drinking beer. Yeah it’s his fault that Byron Jones didn’t get deep enough against Green Bay.

"It" wasn't "personal", "Motorola".

No offense intended. Im not even sure it directed at you. Certainly not the latter part.

I apologize for taking your stance wrong.

Conner, I had read on the zone we were like 20 Million under the cap going into this season.
Are you basing your comments on next years cap?
Doesn't any excess cap we have this year roll over into next years cap?
Thanks, John
Next years cap
Any excess from this year will roll over but we’ve also signed several players as the season hasn’t went on. Most are cheap but still takes money away
Sportsrrac and over the cap has different totals. I assume one has been updated for recent signings
But some where between 7-8 mil is what we have available with our top 51 signed
Also there will be some increase in the cap I’m sure
Before Covid it was very predictable but not sure if it’s totally back to normal for next year yet
The estimated tag for a RB is 12 mil

We can't stop the guaranteed money but we don't have to use him in the playoffs much either.

Just use Pollard except maybe near the goal line and we got a better shot because like I said last year Zeke is D.O.N.E

Ya put him behind an avg oline and he's a 2.5- 3 ypc guy.

Y'all saw what he did w our oline and in the playoff last year

Wake up He's as slow as molasses and is all hype.

Let's see what Davis can do.

He hits a hole and he's more explosive too. Y'all have seen those glimpses
yes true, but jerry will decide the playoff lineups and how much action a guy like pollard will see.
jerry has said twice this season that elliot is the main guy.
They are using pollard more, but no telling what happens in phil or in playoffs.

jerry is not big on common sense, being realistic, logic, he is a fan who happens to own and run his own team.
Just have to wait and see what he does, which is hard to predict.

One thing I see, is adding ty and still looking at obj, that tells me he wants dak to pass more , not run more.

Do you guys think Jones boys will add 2 new wr, and then not throw to them? just run the ball?

A good example will be the phil game, will they run or pass more? will they run a lot, or have dak pass alot?
I have no idea, I know what I would do, but I am rational, jerry isnt lol.

Smart teams don't deal out big money deals to RB's.

Agree/Disagree?

Why even think of letting him walk? We have him now.

Frankly, it would be stupid to let him walk so easily. And why do Jerry always have to shell out the big bucks everytime we sign someone?

This is the trouble with the FO. We cave in so easily to some while we play hardball with others. Then when we sign them we break the bank. Our FO clearly doesn't know how to negotiate.

Apology accepted.
As you well know, there was a large contingent of Cowboys Fans in general, and Cowboys Zone Members in particular, who vehemently dissaproved of Elliott's selection at #4 overall in that 2016 draft because --
A) Most wanted CB Jalen Ramsey at that spot
B) Many stated a running back - no matter his talent and ability, along with his production in college - is not worth a top-10 pick.
The negativity and criticism towards Zeke grew with his controversial behavior and questionable decision-making away from football his first few years in the league.
Then ----his holdout for a reworked contract before his rookie deal elasped, followed by the lucrative extension he received ---made Elliott Cowboys player nongrata no.1 over the last few years.
But I'm not in that camp that denegrates him.

They think restructure means pay cut...
Well, technically, if you cut his salary by $5 million, it would restructure the contract, but you're probably right in that some people think that's what it usually does mean.

So how high are you willing to go? Would you lock him in for 5 years at 16 million per year cause that is probably what it will take.

Not a simple question to answer. Can we get off Zeke's money? If so that pretty much pays for it alone. Do we need that money for someone else specifically that you can name?

Of course there's a price we would walk. But people on this board are just automatically saying no to keeping Pollard before they even know the details. They're already talking about drafting the next rb while saying we need to let go of one of the best offensive weapons in the game.

He has been awesome in the role he has but you’re getting carried away by looking at some statistics. I wouldn’t be comparing him to Barry Sanders and Jim Brown. Lol
I'm not getting carried away. They certainly should keep him for next season. The one year franchise tag is probably the way to go.

Dosen't matter you still let him walk. Any decent rookie RB will be fine behind our OL. That's the biggest issue Dallas has had over the past 27 years. They either want to hang on to players past their usefulness or overpay players that can easily be replaced

Comparing his career rushing average with Jim Brown and Barry Sanders is getting carried away. Emmitt Smith’s career rushing average was 4.2. All those Hall of Fame backs were workhorses that had more than three times the carries that Tony Pollard has had over his career and they were used in short yardage situations, which lowers your yards per carry. Pollard is rarely used in short yardage situations, we use Zeke.
