Although I think the skinz don't have a snowball's chance in Hades, I agree with your take.
In reality, you wouldn't expect a player to do nothing but homer out. Though I don't recall Julius or Ayodele doing that in their segment on the ballers.

But you know what AD, it was HOW he said that made it funny to me. It's like he didn't really believe it and was just playing to the audience. You know how somebody says something, and then when asked for confirmation, their voice gets high and they say "Yeah! yeah" as if they're trying to convince themself, too.

Honestly, what is the guy supposed to say ... that his team will suck this season?
Exactly! usually i will laugh at anything Deadskins but i mean that better be his goal or if not it just shows that him and the deadskins as a whole dont have the mentality that u need to have to be a serious contender. honestly if he would have said SB that also i wouldnt find anything wrong with. Now if he guaranteed that they were making the NFC Championship game or the SuperBowl then yea i would have :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

sorry, if we take overall franchise history - ya'll are smoked.

you can cherry pick your times if you'd like. seems you do. but that doesn't change the fact that overall we're a much more successful franchise.

therapy man.

I don't know what the big deal is. With the amount of money Snyder vomits at his players, very few of them can't afford to buy their tickets to the NFC Championship game. What's wrong with that?

A first-round playoff game might be a good start to getting to YOUR playoff game.

My point was that in the last 10 or 11 years, the Skins have gotten closer to the NFC Championship game than the Boys. They've actually won a few playoff games in the last decade and if it weren't for a botched FG hold (painful for both of us), they probably would have gotten to the Big Game.

but...you didn't

MossBurner said:
No one should bash CP for being optimistic. He knows his team has a lot of talent, and barring injuries, this team WILL be much better than last year.

there's optimistic, and then there's downright delusional

I guess you wouldn't mind it if Brady Quinn came out and said that the Browns are going to the Super Bowl then, huh?

btw, I other than the Oline, RB and H-back, I fail to see where all this talent resides

I can only speak for myself, not an entire message board. I would never laugh at someone who thought and said his team would be successful.

That would be like poking fun at the dumb kid in the class who said he thought he could get an A on the big test after studying hard. Who's to judge?

ah, so there it is, Portis is the ******** kid

thanks for clarifying that up for the rest of us, we only had an inkling

skinsngibbs4life;1503606 said:
just because you have talent doesnt mean you are going to be good. You have to obviously utilize the talent to get a result. Just ask last years pittsburg Steelers.

The Commanders can never make use of the players they have, and the results show

you don't suck either

skinsngibbs4life;1503632 said:
nothing has changed.

I guess I just have to be optimistic that our coaches can find a way to get the most out of their players.

Our 2004 defense is a great example of this. We didn't have the most talented players out there, but GW some how managed to get a top 5 defense out of them.

I guess we just have to hopemi that our coaches finally step up and prove why they are worth millions

the problem is that GW's blitz scheme has been figured out, so until GW comes up w/ another innovative way to play good D w/ sucky players, I would hold off on the optimism

Every time I read a Skins fan who has a take like this I feel sorry for them. No I really do. How sad is it to have nothing more than this to hang your hat on?

They can't compare the two teams over their careers.

They can't compare the two teams in Championships.

They can't compare the 2 teams in head to head.

They can't compare the two teams in recent history.

They can't compare the two teams in any way except this one manufactured criteria that is so transparent and petty that it is ridiculous. I swear it is the most pathetic attempt to win a point in a debate that I have ever seen. It borders on desperate.

It just makes me feel bad for them. Their future is suspect. Their past pales in comparison. How incredibly sad.

Last year the Saints made it all the way to the NFC Championship. They have been the worst team in the post season ever. The franchise has been around since 1967 and is 1-5 all time in the post season. Last year was their first ever post season win. Let me repeat that, EVER.

Last year the Saints spanked us. I have nothing but respect for them at this point. I certainly am not going to worry about their last 10 or 11 years if I talk about them in comparison to us. It will either be all of our past, or the recent past, meaning last year. Everything else is irrelevant.

That just about sums this up...irrelevant. Skins fans desperately want to cling to a criteria that is completely irrelevant and want us to recognize how far they just squirted when they took a wizz. It went 2 feet and they see a mile.

I wouldn't call it "downright delusional". We were one play away from getting to the NFC championship two years back, with much of the same team. While we might be at least a step back from then, I see it as a completly crazy thought.

A big problem that we had last year was that our corners couldn't cover short routes for the life of them. Kenny Wright and Mike Rumph trying to go up against #1 recievers doesnt work very well. When you blitz 7 and 8 but can't cover the short routes, something is going to give. I don't care how good your rush is, if your corners can't cover someone for more then 1 or 2 seconds, your never going to get the QB.

I see a crazy thought too! :laugh2: (whatever the hell you are trying to say)...

Two years back...that's all you got. And you come here telling Cowboy fans how they live in the past?

Two years back...

you may have come close to going to the NFC Championship game, but you didn't, and that same roster faltered horribly the next year, so I would scratch '05 if I were you

and viceversa, if your pass-rush can't get to the QB in less than 5 seconds, even the best secondary in the world is going to get burnt

think about this, we only had 1 real weakness last year in our secondary, FS, and our secondary got abused the last 6 games of the season

Well, that is the idea. :D

That, and to balance out the lame attempts they bring.

Which team finished 9-7 last year, and made the playoffs??

Which team finished 5-11 last year, and missed the playoffs??

If you must focus on history (and I guess being a Skins fan, you don't HAVE anything else), at least focus on RECENT history...

Let's focus on the most RECENT history then. I remember something about 19-22, Skins win...

Do you even have eyes? (they're for reading.)

How is that more recent than season-ending records?

Not as recent as last year, thus not as relevant to THIS year...

What part of that are you unable to grasp?? Your comically inept playoff win against the Bucs, in which you set a league record for offensive FUTILITY by a winning team, won't help you guys one little bit THIS year...

Had you played something resembling a LEGITIMATE playoff team, rather than the Bucs, you would have been sent home losers... just like you were when the crippled Seahawks dispatched you the following week...

Oh, you must mean the same crippled Seahawks that SHOULD have won the super bowl except for some crappy officiating? Well, they couldn't have possibly been worse then the horribly crippled Seahawks that dispatched you without the previous bye week to rest up (like with the Skins) and a secondary filled with guys off the street.
