How is that more recent than season-ending records?

:dunce:

Hmmm, I don't know about you, but when a team beats another team, I tend to think the winning team is the better of the two.

Two sets of fans arguing over who should take first prize in an ugly contest.

"We may suck, but you suck just a little bit more."

Brilliant.

cowboy fans, the last 11 years hasnt been good for either of our teams..but the Commanders at least won 2 playoff games in that time to the cowboys zip...so the best of 2 evils go to the Commanders!!:D

And which team has the brightest future, RIGHT NOW??

The one that went 5-11, and did little to upgrade their team this offseason, or the one that went 9-7, and has upgraded at a number of different positions??

If your two playoff wins gives you comfort, I hope it sustains you during the coming season too... I say that 'cause it seems "at least we've won a playoff game in the last decade" seems to be the Skins fan's mantra these days...

As if that means something... :D

the problem is that GW's blitz scheme has been figured out, so until GW comes up w/ another innovative way to play good D w/ sucky players, I would hold off on the optimism

It's really funny, Skins fans just LOVE to tell you how Williams had a good defense a coupla years ago... but they don't seem to recognize that they had a LOUSY defense, one of the worst in the league, last year...

It seems they think that Williams can magically "turn it on" any ol' time he wants, but I have to wonder why he didn't seem to want to last season?? LOL...

Of course, we've been hearing that the coaching was gonna save the Skins for some time now, haven't we?? Last year, Al Saunders was supposed to be the savior, but the
Skins still went 5-11...

It's like I've said all along, a coach can only do so much when it comes to turning chicken feces into chicken salad... Williams pulled out every trick in the book, but like you said, it sure looks like the rest of the league has figured out his littke tricks...

Every time I read a Skins fan who has a take like this I feel sorry for them. No I really do. How sad is it to have nothing more than this to hang your hat on?

They can't compare the two teams over their careers.

They can't compare the two teams in Championships.

They can't compare the 2 teams in head to head.

They can't compare the two teams in recent history.

They can't compare the two teams in any way except this one manufactured criteria that is so transparent and petty that it is ridiculous. I swear it is the most pathetic attempt to win a point in a debate that I have ever seen. It borders on desperate.

And they ALL seem to do it... it's like they have a Skins' Flame Warrior's Manual, and it says the same thing on every page...

I think if that was all I had to bring to the fight, I'd stay out of the fight... but the average Skins' fan's appetite for abuse must border on the masochistic...

Good job on most assidously avoiding the Seahawk post... Anyways, it's a lose-lose situation. We make a big splash in FA and it's "you overspent again, yada yada yada..." We don't upgrade (but oh my god, is that continuity?) and we didn't "upgrade".

Hmmm...Interesting. Aren't the Houston Texans the last team to beat the Colts? Crown them why won't you.

Not only are trolls annoying but they are not too smart either.

Oh okay, so one year somehow erases many years of dominance before it? Oh no! Saunders had a #1 offense for 2004, 2005 and 2006. Yet, he switches teams and drops to 13 and now he has no clue what he's doing? Or wait, maybe the players just had to adjust to a very complex system.
And Gregg Williams lost his best CB, LB and DL for periods of time and now everyone forgets that his defenses has been consistently top 10 for years???

It just makes me feel bad for them. Their future is suspect. Their past pales in comparison. How incredibly sad.

Last year the Saints made it all the way to the NFC Championship. They have been the worst team in the post season ever. The franchise has been around since 1967 and is 1-5 all time in the post season. Last year was their first ever post season win. Let me repeat that, EVER.

Last year the Saints spanked us. I have nothing but respect for them at this point. I certainly am not going to worry about their last 10 or 11 years if I talk about them in comparison to us. It will either be all of our past, or the recent past, meaning last year. Everything else is irrelevant.

That just about sums this up...irrelevant. Skins fans desperately want to cling to a criteria that is completely irrelevant and want us to recognize how far they just squirted when they took a wizz. It went 2 feet and they see a mile.

:redhomer:
Actually, I believe they won a playoff game vs. St. Louis with Aaron Brooks at the helm, still you made your point. I could be wrong.............

Any given sunday. But when "worse teams" consistently beat you (like the Skins, Detriot, a crippled Seattle with no secondary), I tend to think there maybe something in it...

A big problem that we had last year was that our corners couldn't cover short routes for the life of them. Kenny Wright and Mike Rumph trying to go up against #1 recievers doesnt work very well. When you blitz 7 and 8 but can't cover the short routes, something is going to give. I don't care how good your rush is, if your corners can't cover someone for more then 1 or 2 seconds, your never going to get the QB.

And you figure Fred Smoot and Dave Macklin are an upgrade there, do you??

Smoot only got benched by the league's worst pass defense last year, while Macklin was only a part-time starter on the 30th ranked pass defense...

You guys gave up an average of 7.2 yards per attempt last year, which is quite high, clearly you weren't just giving up the short stuff... example-- in 2 games against the Boys last year, the Skins gave up 7 completions of over 20 yards, 2 of over 40 yards...

Maybe later tonight at work, I'll go through their other 14 games, see how many long passes they gave up for the season... having watched most or all of all 16 games they played, I'm betting they gave up a lot of deeper passes...

Let's focus on the most RECENT history then. I remember something about 19-22, Skins win...

A fluke win which gave y'all a split last year... yes, ALL of last season qualifies as recent history...

And you guys pretty much got the hammer put to you in the first game, didn't you??

He was asked what his expectations for the team was and that was his response.

Made some other very interesting comments... Loves Joe Gibbs. Thinks he's extremely knowledgeable, just that the team needs to reward his knowledge by winning.

Loves Danny... Cuz he paid him.

He wouldn't have restructured for Moss, but he would've for a Freeney, Osi Umenyiora, and a couple other PASS RUSHERS...Hugh Douglas pointed that out.

Sold the koolaid on the drafting another safety vs a pass rusher.

How can you praise the safety after stating that you would restructure for a pass rusher?

I wouldn't go beating your chest about how great your pass defense is. Unless NFL.com lies, Washington gave up 218 yards/game and Dallas gave up 219/game.

Oh, you must mean the same crippled Seahawks that SHOULD have won the super bowl except for some crappy officiating?

I'm talking about the Seahawks team that lost their star running back early in the game, to a concussion... you know, the guy who was second in the league in rushing that year, ONE YARD behind the league leader...

He was back for that Super Bowl game...

And once again, we hear a Skins fan woof about "woulda, coulda, shoulda", which is of course the fallback position for LOSERS...

Well, they couldn't have possibly been worse then the horribly crippled Seahawks that dispatched you without the previous bye week to rest up (like with the Skins) and a secondary filled with guys off the street.

If I was a loser like you, I'd point out that the Cowboys SHOULD have won that game... but I'm not, and what is, is...

So I'll just point out that you're arguing out of both sides of your mouth, telling us how the Skins SHOULD have beat the Seahawks, how they were "one play away from winning", and you say the Seahawks SHOULD have won the Super Bowl... but for some reason, you don't have the integrity enough to admit that if you're gonna play the SHOULD have game, the Boys SHOULD have won that game against the Seahawks...

That, troll, is what they call HYPOCRISY... if you're gonna make an argument, apply that same argument evenly across the board...

Problem is, even if you did that, you'd STILL be a loser, because excuses are for losers...

Oh, a fluke win... Just like the fluke win in 05? "Two TD passes in the final minutes of the game and it'll never happen again." The next game... 35-7. Got the hammer put to us huh? Terry Glenn's TD should had been called back because of a horrible hold by Witten and 27-10 isn't the hammer exactly. Not with the second game in a completely new offensive system.

Except, apparently, for the Seattle Seahawks in that playoff game against the Skins... you have told us repeatedly how the Skins SHOULD have won that game...

You're so braindead you can't even keep your own BS straight... which is perfectly OK, because it gives us the fun of pointing out both your hypocrisy, and your abject stupidity...

As a general rule, I don't like trolls, but I have a special contempt reserved for those who engage in the hypocritical semantic tapdancing that you've employed consistently in this little argument...

In time, you'll find that you won't win any arguments (or flame wars) in here by talkin' out both sides of your mouth the way you're doing now... maybe that weak crapola flies with the morons over at Extremeskins, but you'll get slapped down for it in here...

Gregg Williams consistently top 10 for years?

1997 Houston Oilers D Cord - 12th in points allowed, 22nd in yards allowed
1998 Titans D Cord - 12th in points allowed, 14th in yards allowed
1999 Titans D Cord - 15th in points allowed, 18th in yards allowed
2000 Titans D Cord - 2nd in points allowed, 2nd in yards allowed

2001 Bills Head Coach - 29th in points allowed, 21st in yards allowed
2002 Bills Head Coach - 27th in points allowed, 15th in yards allowed
2003 Bills Head Coach - 5th in points allowed, 2nd in yards allowed

2004 Skins D Cord - 5th in points allowed, 2nd in yards allowed
2005 Skins D Cord - 9th in points allowed, 9th in yards allowed
2006 Skins D Cord - 27th in points allowed, 29th in yards allowed

The Score: Four really good years, three middle of the road years, and three near dead last last years. Lets not overstate Williams's success.
