Wow. 21 pages of replies. Who would have figured!

I agree that is was not just Dak's fault they lost to GB the way they did. But Dak played a role. At the same time, I have yet to here an explanation for why Dan Quinn does not deserve as much criticism for the way he defense played. All day GB WRs were wide open downfield for big plays. How did that happen in the 18th game of the season, and why didn't Quinn do anything to adjust?
He does and has gotten blamed heavily on this site.

I think they've TRIED to take it seriously but they have in the past over-valued guys like ex college QB's turned baseball players and kept guys in the role too long when it was clear they weren't good enough. Parcells was the key guy that undervalued the QB position bringing in retreads and rolling with Quinthy/Testeverticles. He lucked into Romo and walked after one year. He might've actually helped Romo unlike the Clapper.
They have? That's a reach.

Dak cannot play as big of a role in that fiasco. It's indefensible to a sane rational person.

DDS? Makes you not sane. or maybe people love to troll because of their sad pathetic life...this thread is their crowning achievement.

QB’s don’t grow on trees. No matter what you think of Dak, he‘s not the reason for not having much playoff success. He was 2nd in NFL MVP race for a reason. He’s that good. Once he’s gone, it could possibly be years before they break .500. This is no Chicago Bears defense in the making not with massive holes at DT and LB. Mahomes and Brady are generational type players. Picking a QB in the draft is a 50/50 crap shoot AT BEST. So many 1st round busts at that position. Casual fans don’t understand that and want Dak gone NOW. But ask them who’s going to be the QB? They think anyone they draft will be the answer right away. Not likely to happen.

I hope Dak gets extended because I know he gives the team the best chance of winning the Super Bowl. I just hope it’s a team friendly extension. Fix the running game and get a defense that can stop the run and he can easily lead this team to the Super Bowl.
To 'Rockport'...the Cowboys' 2024 season was the franchise's 65th in the NFL.
In the six and a half decades of their existence, there have only been four occurances of a consecutive .500 or worse = seasons losing streaks - and none of those exceeded 6 years.
1] 1960-65___ 6 seasons: 5 straight sub .500... 1960-64, 7-7 in 1965.

2] 1986-1990___ 5 consecutive years < .500

3] 1999-2002___ 4 seasons: 8-8 in 1999, 2000-02 under .500.

4] 2010-13___ 4 years: 2010 below .500, 3 straight seasons at 8-8.

So....it is highly unlikely your doom-and-gloom prophecy for a decade to a decade & half of consecutive mediocre to losing seasons will happen.

So if you have a car that's a lemon constantly in need of repair, you stick with it out of fear the next car might a worse lemon?
.....didn't we see that prior to Dak? Leaking oil, dents, false accident reports, tampering with the odometer, sawdust visible, smoke, checking engine light constantly on, bad radio.

Did Rocky disappear since he made this post?

Hello?
Maybe he found a new team? ;)
Perhaps in the midst of holiday celebrations...so he's not seen the latest responses.

But as I commented earlier (post #414)...his Nostradamus take that the Cowboys will go through a winless drought equal to the Geat Depression if Prescott is not the Cowboys QB this season - or after 2024 - is excessive.

Edit = my bad.
I should have posted that the Cowboys' 2023 season is the franchise's 64th season in the league.

Let’s tap the breaks and see what happens this year in Houston.
They said the same thing about Herbert. Heck there’s probably a thread here somewhere in 2021 urging us to trade up for Zach Wilson.

This thread should be closed and locked.
It's based on pro-Dak propaganda and the title is misleading. Dak has produced 8-8 seasons as well.

Hmm. I’m down for a change at QB, but I’d hardly think the OPs opinions are unusual.

Last time I checked “pro Dak propaganda” wasn’t against the board rules.

If you go down that path, you obviously have to prohibit “Dak hate posts” and if you did that, we’d be locking every other thread that gets posted.

From 1997 to 2015 the Cowboys record was 152-152.

Since the first game Dak ever started in 2016, only the Chiefs and Ravens have won more regular season games.

However, that was the product of several variables including the creation of an elite offensive line, better drafting overall, and slightly improved salary cap management.

One major difference in the future is that they will most likely have a different GM soon. I think that will be more important than who the QB is.

That 152-152 number is misleading. From 2003 (Parcells hired) to 2014 they were 110-79.

They just had 3 really bad seasons in a row 5-11 x 3 from 2000 to 2002. They also had 2014 when Romo went 3-1 and the other QB's went 1-13. To some extent, we have blown up those bad years in our collective heads.

Romo was 78-49 as a starter. Dak is 73-41. The Dak years really haven't been really that much different than the Romo years. Good regular seasons and playoff disappointment.

Many here think we seeing Dak's ceiling which is 2-5 in the playoffs. The argument of the of some rough times ahead if we get rid of Dak is countered with the belief that if you keep him you are just extending mediocrity and postponing the inevitable. Do we really want more season where we are one and done in the playoffs and then the team might be worse off afterwards because we created a greater cap hell with an extension? Explain to me how We are going to do better in the playoffs, if Dak has hit his ceiling, since he isn't getting any better and is getting older with his skills declining. Explain how we are going to do this if the talent level around him will drop because Dak won't take a team friendly deal and the Joneses are bad negotiators.
Explain to me how we are going to do better in the playoffs if the defense cant stop the run or pass ?? So if we get rid of Dak, we will automatically win in the playoffs?? Even if Dak takes a discount, I have no faith in this organization spending money to upgrade the other weak positions on the field. I also don't have confidence in them finding a franchise QB in the near future. 28 years and counting.
