Drafting one earlier doesn’t guarantee you’ll hit on one better than Dak. Mahomes is the only QB drafted since 2016 to win a SB. If Dak was a first round draft pick a lot of fans probably wouldn’t trash him as much. Some keep using his 4th round draft status against him. The organization does have a lot of problems and a new QB isn’t going to be able to overcome them.
It also does not guarantee that you will miss on one either. The organization has tons of problems, but Dak will be able to overcome them? Sometime, KJJ, you really do talk in circles at times, no disrespect, but man oh man.

How many chances are you going to give Dak to get rid of his Deer-in-the-Headlight-itis come big games? He's performed pretty poorly against teams like the 49ers even when the defense held their own. He's getting worse not better.

I agree it would be nice if the defense had played better against GB but it hasn't ALWAYS been that way in some of the big games. The playoff game against the 49ers two years ago, the defense more than held their own. Dak was terrible. He takes a majority of the cap and he's paid specifically not to play the way he does come playoff time. Again, how long are you gonna give him before you are ready to change course?? I gave him 8 seasons. More than fair.

If you think Rush or Lance can win even with that, that's also bizarre. Rush crumbled against the Eagles. Lance hasn't even proven he deserves to play in this league. These are unproven players despite the Cowboys 5-1 record with Rush (there's a reason he's a backup).

There's also no guarantee any other QB that we get wouldn't be just as much of an issue. Fans go to extremes: We can't win with any other QB or we can win with any other QB are both extremes. It's part of the hyperfocus on the QB position instead of staying focused on the real problem: management.
I think you are missing the point of my comment. But...well shrug... okay. I surely do need a lecture about the jones'.

That isn't the way it works.

You are right, higher draft picks isn't any sureity of super bowls. 1st rounders ALWAYS have higher expectations. It's one thing both Dak AND romo SHOULD...BOTH OF THEM (nod wink this means YOU) should and sometimes do...get credit for.

Again...I;d like to see the person that said replacing Dak will solve ALL OF our problems.

Said nobody ever. You guys just keep making stuff up...it's incredible.

Sorry if I missed your point.
The point of my comment is that everyone deserves a well built TEAM. Does Micah benefit by have a solid run game? Or course he does. Does Dak? Of course...would Coop or Trey? Yes.

Did I say that means they will win it all every year? No...I don;t THINK I said that. If I did ...again.... it wasn't really the crux of my comment.

It was a PLAYOFF game, that should have inspired the defense to come out of the blocks playing with some juice but they came out flat and could never get it going. Just look at SF’s defense once they got way behind to Detroit. They stepped up! The biggest issue with our defense is our lack of physicality and toughness. One good punch and we fold.
So whats the excuse for the OFFENSE?????

Dak can’t so what’s the issue with trying to find someone better?

While there are no guarantees in the draft, you are more likely to find a better QB earlier than later.

But the issue now is Daks contract is about up. So do we give him $55-60m and expect to do better with him taking up more cap room? I don’t think so.

Our defense only held its own once against SF and Dak had a terrible game. You have to keep giving him chances because we don’t have a better option and he’s been great in the regular season and has consistently gotten us to the playoffs. I’ll change course when I come up with a better option waiting in the wings or he struggles through the regular season and it becomes clear it’s time to move on.

QB’s don’t grow on trees. No matter what you think of Dak, he‘s not the reason for not having much playoff success. He was 2nd in NFL MVP race for a reason. He’s that good. Once he’s gone, it could possibly be years before they break .500. This is no Chicago Bears defense in the making not with massive holes at DT and LB. Mahomes and Brady are generational type players. Picking a QB in the draft is a 50/50 crap shoot AT BEST. So many 1st round busts at that position. Casual fans don’t understand that and want Dak gone NOW. But ask them who’s going to be the QB? They think anyone they draft will be the answer right away. Not likely to happen.

I hope Dak gets extended because I know he gives the team the best chance of winning the Super Bowl. I just hope it’s a team friendly extension. Fix the running game and get a defense that can stop the run and he can easily lead this team to the Super Bowl.
Hey let me fix that for you. Possible seven or eight super bowl championships over the next 10 to 15 years after dak leaves.

He only passed for 403 yards, competing 41 passes, both Cowboys playoff records and he threw 3 TDs. He also rushed for 45 yards. Pollard and Dowdle only combined for 67 yards.
Didn't take you for one of "those" guys. Debating anyone that looks at stats at face value is a massive waste of time and is 90% time fantasy football, state chasers, or watch espn highlights or all 3.

Now you just look like AC sitting on the recliner high fiving film highlights

In reality he was trash until they went prevent and pulled starters and some 2nd string guys

We’ve used a 5th, 7th and a 4th on QBs since Dak has been here. He’s played too well for us to use a first round pick on a QB. The Cowboys have only used three first round picks on QBs in their entire history. Craig Morton in 1965, Troy Aikman and Steve Walsh in 1989. It appears the Joneses may let Dak play out his deal and make a decision on him when they have to.

I think seeing 3 years of the same crap is enough chances.

The last three years we’ve made the playoffs. That hasn’t happened since Aikman was the QB. Things aren’t near as bad as some of you make it appear.

If you had merely argued losing Dak could hurt chance the next few years, I wouldn't have argued. That's not an unreasonable opinion, although a different opinion might not be unreasonable either.

But to say it could cost the team 10-15 years where they can't break .500 is pretty ridiculous. I agree it's not a simple task to replace a guy like Dak, but neither is it such a daunting task it would take 10-15 years to do. LOSING DAK WOULDN'T NECCESITATE 10-15 YEARS OF MARK SANCHEZ PLAY.

In his first two seasons in the NFL, Mark Sanchez quarterbacked his team to the AFC Conference Championship Game.

Ninth season approaching as the starting QB...Cowboys Fans still waiting for Prescott to lead the team to a conference championship for the first time.

Production is a big part of it with QBs. If it wasn’t for production the Rams would have never traded for Stafford. He had a losing regular season and playoff record but he could put up big numbers, which leads to scoring. Everyone still talks up Justin Herbert because of his stats.
