Possible 10-15 years of .500 football when Dak's gone

The problem starts at the top. Just look at their draft picks from last year. 1st pick, a defensive tackle that looked horrible. The second pick was insane. A tight end when they had a good one to begin with. They would have been better off getting a linebacker, a tackle or a running back. I just knew Pollard wasn't gonna hold up because he was injured the year before. Plus he's not built to carry the ball 15 or 20 times a game.
Their drafting is overrated. With that said, it doesnt make sense to try to build around this QB if they cant hit on these picks because he needs all the help he can get.

Even more of a reason to move on from him

So much of this nonsense posted by this moron is predicated on this fantasy that Dak Prescott is somehow single handedly carrying this team. When in reality the team as it is built can support any average QB that can play within the parameters of this basic offense they have constructed for the mental midget under center. I dare say you will find that certain QB's will allow you more options as they won't likely suffer the impairment of holding on to the ball too long or need a few minutes to work through their progressions. They will also not likely lock on to their first read like Dak does. How can you prove this? Well just look at the 5 games that Cooper Rush started. We can all agree that Rush isn't better than Dak. So if a guy worse than Dak was able to hold it together why should we think that moving on from Dak is going to make the bottom fall out?
Dak stans: that was the defense that won those games, not Rush!

Also Dak stans: This roster is horrible! The defense cant stop the run and always folds in the playoffs!

It's either @Rockport or @rambo2 ... not sure which one.... but this is them on the forum these days in the Dak threads.

The last of the diehard Dak supporters as the rest of the forum moves on.

You don’t get it, bro.

Dak is comfortable. 15 years of Dak and Romo have made fans comfortable in mediocrity.

Dak fans are terrified of the unknown.

Because what if we fail? Isn’t it safer to just stay here on the shore and never venture out? We have a soft little spot here. They don’t know what’s out there and it scares them.
Respectfully, you don't understand what you're up against.
It's not "comfort". Dak, his family, and his agent has people pushing out pro-Dak propaganda like candy because millions of dollars are at stake.
This is big business, and they are trying to use fear-mongering to create a following that will help them collect more money.
It's not about football- but it should be.
It's about money.

Everything is possible. Maybe you get a better QB, maybe worse. What I know you get is a cheaper one. So they better use the savings to surround him with a better team.

QB’s don’t grow on trees. No matter what you think of Dak, he‘s not the reason for not having much playoff success. He was 2nd in NFL MVP race for a reason. He’s that good. Once he’s gone, it could possibly be years before they break .500. This is no Chicago Bears defense in the making not with massive holes at DT and LB. Mahomes and Brady are generational type players. Picking a QB in the draft is a 50/50 crap shoot AT BEST. So many 1st round busts at that position. Casual fans don’t understand that and want Dak gone NOW. But ask them who’s going to be the QB? They think anyone they draft will be the answer right away. Not likely to happen.

I hope Dak gets extended because I know he gives the team the best chance of winning the Super Bowl. I just hope it’s a team friendly extension. Fix the running game and get a defense that can stop the run and he can easily lead this team to the Super Bowl.
Dak is mentally broken, You have to move on.

Some people hate Dak so much on a personal level, they fail to see the real problem. As long as the Jones family controls the Cowboys’ front office this team will always under achieve. The problem starts with a family who answers to no one and never has their job on the line running football operations. Patrick Mahomes would fail here. Brady in his prime would fail here.

yep
and sadly we are stuck with the Jones family till they all kick and maybe beyond then. Stephan seems just as much a drop case as his dad and so we are screwed

And of course the Jones fanboys here are basically saying
IT could be so much worse so don't dare change

It's time to move on from Dak. It doesn't have to be the end of the world. We've gotten no where with him anyway. The most hollow 12-5 seasons you'll ever see.

Yes, it can get bad like the early 2000s but it doesn't have to if they keep drafting well. Land a guy like Stroud and you're off to the races with new hope...

The problem is that the same faulty architects are responsible for building the roster.

As much as the overall roster talent has approved, especially since McClay had more say, the Jones have been awful at finding QBs. The three good ones they have had were all luck.

Aikman - purchased the team with the #1 overall pick and Aikman was the obvious #1 overall choice.

Romo - UDFA who would have been cut in 2004 had Quincy Carter not been released for a failed drug test.

Prescott (which half of you hate anyway) - Was a 4th round pick. The Cowboys tried and failed to get Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook in this draft. Prescott only got to play after injuries to Romo and Kellen Moore, as well as Nick Foles choosing to be a back-up in Kansas City over taking the starting job in Dallas.

So, the guys picking the next QB are the same guys who CHOSE the likes of Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson, and tried (and failed) to spend draft capital on Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook.
Just blame it on the coaches. They are the idiots.....right?

just as possible they win the SB the year after he is booted to the curb. One thing we all know, we aren't winning one as long as he is here so what's the point? Regular season wins, MVP votes, leadership, none of that makes up for the fact he falls apart when the team needs him the most.

there's a possibility as well with Dak having an extension for us to never see the superbowl... so what's the difference... i would say the chances of gambling on someone else are higher than 50/50 at this point

the chances are heavily in Daks favour to lose his next playoff game with the 2-5 record he has - that is facts and backed by statistics. He has a 28% chance of winning you a playoff game, zero percent chance of winning more than 2 in his career.
