Here are some guys I like that I think could be available.
Ashton Jeanty rb Boise State
Emeka Egbuka wr Ohio State
Kelvin Banks oline Texas
Jahdae Barron db Texas
Luther Burden wr Missouri
Jeanty is a good back, one of the best we have seen in years. But how smart is it for the Cowboys, who are in a rebuild, to invest in a RB in the 1st round? Drafting a RB in the 1st round is a luxury and the Cowboys are far from that point.
Banks can potentially be the first OL to go and won't even sniff the teens.
Egbuka would be a reach for us, especially if Burdan is available. I see Egbuka somewhere between Denver and the end of the 1st round.
Barron is a late first early second.
Burden is a very real possibility for Dallas. But don't be surprised if after the combine and his pro days that he reestablishes himself as the top WR in the draft. And speaking of WR McMillan is a player to keep an eye on for Dallas as the draft season goes along.

I love Jeanty.

But the RB class is way too deep to pick it in the 1st.

Give me DL, WR and then RB.

I would have to take the OT from Texas. The Cowboys need to be more dominant there. I am not that anti-Steele, but the name of the game is improving year over year.

At the same time, I am not convinced Guyton will be any better at RT than he is at LT. It is so important to hit on first round picks and Guyton is a good example why. The Cowboys have a better idea of what he is than I do, but he needs to work hard in the offseason. Will he? He has to come back stronger in the upper body in 2025. If he doesn't put in the work to improve, then I might keep Steele and his contract and try to trade Guyton - or keep them both.

3rd round?????????????????????
Even the top RB's in the class often don't get drafted til late first or even second round nowadays. He didn't exactly solidify himself last night. Don't forget the turnovers.

As a first impression, that's what he felt like to me last night.

Depends on who is coming out. Gibb and Bijan Robinson both went Top 12 in 2023.

He had like 2 turnovers in the entire season.

He isn't getting out of the first round. Not even close.

He was facing future NFL players last night that's all. Boise St doesn't have a OL to stand up to that caliber of defense.

Im about to make a case for Jeanty being off the board before us...

1) League seems to be reverting back to running game to take advantage of 6 or 7 defenders in the secondary
2) Playoff football almost requires a decent running game for clubs that dont have elite QB play or elite dfense
3) The rb has been devalued for 15 years due to being marginalized by moneyball...yet stud rb's continue to get scooped early when there is hype on one

I think Jeanty goes earlier than 10. I could be wrong. The World like to gaslight me and try and enrage me with being wrong...but why would the League all the sudden decide to shun Jeanty if he is one of best prospects ever combined with the above 3 points unless it just wants to make me look wrong?

Moneyballing the rb was around before Zeke and he got scooped before 10. Jeanty is a better prospect supposedly...

Why would the League decide to shun Jeanty with HUGE hype around his talent? Why would they do it THIS YEAR? Can anyone provide an intelligent answer?
I agree with you.

Is he going to senior bowl? Another datapoint with & against better competition.

2 last night against better competition though. Evaluators are going to discount his regular season accomplishments and question this performance. It's only going to be tougher at the next level.

Car salesman will clutch to a dent and tell you a perfect 2005 land rover with 100 original miles is not worth $8000 because of a dent

Of the players listed, I'd only be interested in Jeanty and Burden at this point (pre-Combine).

This team doesn't need to spend another high draft pick on the o-line. I would be targeting talent on the d-line and preferably at DT.
Exactly, they have a need at DT and depending on what they do with Lawrence and others, could have a real big need at DE too.

I dont think they will invest much at DE.

Starters - Micah and Sam Williams / Kneeland

They likely bring Golston, Lawson and guy like Earnest Brown who they just picked up

Because player rankings never change throughout the draft process?

Going to be interesting to watch all this unfold. It has added a layer of intrigue for me.
Teams evaluate players in context of all factors. Boise State was outmanned talent-wise across the board. This cannot be overstated. Boise State just signed its first 5-Star recruit in the history of its program last year.

Not to mention Penn State game planned to stop Jeanty from breaking Sanders record. A player’s stock is not as volatile as you’re thinking (i.e., game-to-game). Jeanty has back-to-back 1,500+ yard seasons; teams have a feel for the type of prospect he is.
