Potential backup QB's

I suppose it would not be well received by you if my "Bright Idea" was for you to stop trying to shove Ricky Ray down our throats, yeah?
Just making informed suggestions, ace. That's all.

Ray went to the SF camp at the very end. He never had an opportunity. Why'd you leave that part out?:D

Let me know what day he showed up. The fact is that the guy tried to make the very same 49ers squad that Tim Rattay was a member of - the same Rattay you're weakly trying to criticize - and failed.

Let's see:

One guy made the team, the other didn't?

Do the math.

Ray has had more than one chance in the NFL and has failed more than once.

Doesn't sound all that "informed" to me.....

One man's master piece I suppose............. Maybe you can write a letter to Gibbs and see if he will put in a good word for your boy wherever he lands.

I've heard it's pretty much inevitable that the Raiders will target JaMarcus Russell to be their QB-of-the-future. Might that might mean the end of either Aaron Brooks or Andrew Walter in OAK? Brooks had a decent if not spectacular stretch as a starter in NO' between '01 and '04, and he is mobile and throws a nice deep ball. He might make a decent backup/stopgap starter guy if something should happen to Romo. Walter was really in over his head as a starter last year but showed he had a big-time arm. Maybe a year of experience on the sidelines would be good for his development. I think Brooks will be cut in March so the Raiders won't have pay him his roster bonus. Maybe OAK would accept a mid-round draft pick for Walter if they land Russell as, with a draft deep draft in WR's, the Raiders might want as many picks as they can get since they might move Randy Moss and Joey Porter and would subsequently need to find replacements.

Brad Johnson might be nice to have around. Seems like MIN is high on Tarvaris Jackson and Brian Bollinger and content to let those two fight it out for the starting job.

I don't love Brooks. Too many issue with him IMO. Walters I really like but as much as I like him, I don't think he is the kind of back up we need. If we wanted to bring him in as developmental, I'd be all for that but not for back up. I would rather have a guy who has more experience. While Walters has played a season, most of the experience gained in that season was that of being on his back. JMO of course.

I think rattay would probably be the way I'd prefer to go. But who knows at this point.

Rattay's too short for my tastes...

I think that with the cap room the Boys have, they could make a play for a Damon Huard... the only hitch would be if he'd be willing to come to a team where he has little real chance of winning a starting job...

I could live with Carr too, if the rumors about him being available for as little as a 5th round pick are accurate... I wouldn't give up a first day pick for him, though...

CFL All-Star Ricky Ray of the Edmonton Eskimos.

You forgot to finish that sentence, philo, you left off the word "sucks" there at the end...

I think we should draft a guy or get another UDFA ..... I am sure that Garrett could spot a solid backup.

Here's a buck, go buy a clue.....

Better make it 2 bucks, philo needs at least 2 clues...

He seemed to think that Gary Gibbs would make a good head coach for the Dallas Cowboys... ROTFLMAO...

Touting Ricky Ray hardly marks you as an "informed" football fan... in fact, it reveals you to be utterly clueless...

Wow, must've struck a nerve....huh.:laugh1: Glad to see you're still kickin' I was startin' to worry about ya.

Keep in mind that Garrett has a history with Kerry Collins (both played for Giants) and w/ Brad Johnson when he was with the Bucs.
