He's still under contract but due to Chad Pennington's rebound from injury and Kellen Clemens progress, Ramsay might get cut.

Definitely a possibility.

I really don't think Carr will be all that expensive, and from what I heard Houston wants a fifth for him, so I say let's do it... I mean, he's getting cut by the Texans, and I really don't think he has to much leverage to negotiate anything expensive...he can be a backup and competition...This is my opinion though...

CFL All-Star Ricky Ray of the Edmonton Eskimos.

How about Billy Ray Cyrus. He used to play collegiate football. He can be cross trained to backup quarterback and everytime he gets sacked he can break out in a rendition of Achy Breaky Heart..

What about Garcia, if he doesn't land a starter gig. He has a similar playing style to Romo, is a more experienced veteran and can be clutch. The right amount of money might convince him to backup Romo after all. And they both have similar heritages.

Proven in the CFL is not proven in the NFL. He's had two shots in the NFL. One with the Niners, where he never made the team and one with the Jets where he never played and got cut after 6 games.
Get your facts right, ace. Ray spent the entire 2004 season with the Jets. Look it up.

Hmmm, these numbers show us that Ray's quarterback rating has been steadily DECLINING since he hit the CFL... his quarterback rating-- in a league that is decidely inferior to the NFL-- has been under 90 the last 2 years...
No running game & a poor offensive line will do that to anybody, ace. What's your boy Q's QB ranking?:lmao2:

And yet your hero couldn't beat out Quincy Carter with the Jets?

Keep digging the hole for yourself!

You make it too easy!

anyone know how old Carr is? i thought he was just a year or two older than romo.

if you think romo is the future, i do not see bringing in another QB approximately his own age as a backup.

Look fellas, philo beddoe has come up with a nick name for me. I think it's Ace. Aint that cute? :laugh2:

Look, if it makes you feel better for me to say that Ray tried out for the 49ers in 2001, dressed for only one pre-season game, did not make the team and was asked to leave, OK. There ya go.

If it makes you feel better for me to say that in 2004, Ray was signed by the Jets, dressed for only six games, where he only held a clip board, did not throw a single pass, where the Jets elected to go with a QB who had substance abuse issues over him, and was not asked to return by the Jets for 05 (or any NFL team for that matter), so be it.

Do you feel better now?

I doubt Garcia looks good outside of the WCO, based on past performance. It doesn't sound like we're going to be running anything close to that here. Granted, he won't be starting, but if you're going to spend $$$ on a backup vet and not run the offense he's suited for, when he does have to play he's gonna be behind the double 8-ball (potentially, lack of playing time and bad offensive fit).

No warranty expressed or implied..

It surprises me, but when I think about it, I wouldn't hate Ramsey as a backup for Romo...

If you can't even put up a 90 QBR in the freakin' CFL, you're most assuredly not NFL material...

Which Ray has already proven, twice...

Best be careful Silver. You might end up with one of those fancy nicknames, such as Ace!

Garcia will be 37 later on this month and has a poor history with T.O. I have seen several suggestions for QBs older than 35. I like experience, but there is a point where a player passes over from being experienced to just being old. Especially at the QB postion. This is amplified for Garcia who would have to play in an offense that doesn't fit his strengths.

Besides, if we're gonna go for old, we must get Vinny!

At the most important position on the team I would pay for a backup like Carr. If Romo plays well and doesn't get hurt you paid for expensive insurance, but for a team on the verge a quality backup is a must.

I am not 100% convinced Romo is the savior and I could easily see Carr revive his career elsewhere. Down the road Carr could even earn a starters spot and signing Carr would give Dallas leverage with Romo.

I have a friend who recently emcee'd an event where Garcia was the guest speaker. He spoke to him and Garcia's deal is this:

1) He's 37 and has one last shot at a nice payday, so money is a prime factor.

2) He also wants to go to a contender where he has a chance to play for something.

3) He wants to start.

If he can't find that situation, he's going to re-sign with the Eagles to probably start the season (while McNabb rehabs) and see where things go from there.

I can't see Garcia taking a modest contract to come to Dallas to backup Romo.
