Jets coach Todd Bowles hinted that RB Stevan Ridley (knee) will begin the season on the reserve/PUP list.

"We have some quality running backs right now, and they’re all playing good," Bowles said, "so Ridley can take his time and get healthy." Ridley opening the season on the PUP should open a roster spot for Zac Stacy.

Raiders waived RB Trent Richardson.

Oakland will eat the $600,000 it guaranteed Richardson back in March. We figured the Colts' release of Richardson would serve as a swift kick in the pants for the former No. 3 overall pick, but he ended up reporting to Raiders camp overweight and didn't impress anyone in the organization this preseason, rushing for 42 scoreless yards on 15 carries (2.8 YPC) and breaking one measly tackle. Richardson is running out of chances, but we expect him to get one more.

Someone needs to get this guy, stash him on their roster, and get him in shape.

I honestly believe conditioning is this guys biggest problem.

Give him a year to get his body right and lose about 25 pounds and then see if he can do anything next preseason. If not cut him.

He had a very good OL to run behind in Cleveland and has some success. I read what your saying just don't want him here. The guy clearly has Jamarcus Russel approach. Someone will pick him up though based on his age. As for CM...please not here...another RB drafted high that has not taken advantage of his opportunities.

Yeah I just don't think he is mentally into it.

Probably burnt himself out.

The guy had so much potential but it looks like he ate himself out of the league.

Say no to CM...he is a bust...

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent RB Fred Jackson will meet with the Seahawks on Tuesday.

Rapoport said both sides expect a deal to get done. Cut by the Bills on Monday, Jackson would provide a veteran presence behind starter Marshawn Lynch, his former teammate in Buffalo and a player with whom he is reportedly close. Bringing in Jackson could signal the end of the line for Christine Michael.

9 News Denver's Mike Klis does not believe Broncos RB Montee Ball will make the final roster.

Ball has been steadily falling down the depth chart all offseason and played behind Juwan Thompson in the third preseason game. Ball should get one more shot in the fourth preseason game to show his worth, but right now his job is anything but secure.

Multiple reports on this guy. His days are numbered. To think last year this guy was a fantasy darling at RB. What a difference a year makes.

Stephen Jones: I wouldn't say we're set at RB. We like our 3 RBs a lot. "If we saw a young RB to add to the mix, we'd certainly look at it."

This is very telling. I have been saying for quite some time....this team is looking for a young vet to add to the mix. If a Ball/CM/West/Crowell do get dropped I think the boys swoop in pretty quick.

Which is why we are not interested in Fred Jax.

Thanks for posting that quote BTW.

if they bring in a young vet who else can they cut...not going to be Randle/DMAC or they may go four deep at RB with the following
starter Randle back up DMAC
third down back Dunbar backup new young vet

DMac does what Dunbar does, third down back. (NO I did not say he returns kickoffs !) That last thing was not for you Silver, but for someone else !

What would be your list of RB's after all the cuts are in, that would be the best for the Cowboys ?
