Potential FA RBs

Marcus Murphy - RB - Saints
Saints coach Sean Payton said RB Marcus Murphy is "making this team."

The rookie out of Missouri had 110 total yards against the Texans on Sunday. He is also one of the favorites to return kicks this season. Murphy making the roster could be bad news for veteran RB Tim Hightower.

What do you think of Hightower ?

Monte Ball time...

Montee Ball - RB - Broncos
Montee Ball appears to be in danger of losing his roster spot in Denver.

He won't be a part of Denver's first cuts, but he might not make it when the Broncos trim to 53 this upcoming weekend. Ball is squarely behind C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman, while Juwan Thompson is making a run to be Denver's No. 3 back. "Special teams is a big factor with him and Juwan," coach Gary Kubiak said. "We'll see. I'm fine with Montee." If Ball were cut on Saturday, he would go through the NFL's waivers process. "Right now it's C.J., Ronnie, then Juwan, then me," Ball acknowledged. "So I guess just what it is."

Raiders waived RB Trent Richardson.

Oakland will eat the $600,000 it guaranteed Richardson back in March. We figured the Colts' release of Richardson would serve as a swift kick in the pants for the former No. 3 overall pick, but he ended up reporting to Raiders camp overweight and didn't impress anyone in the organization this preseason, rushing for 42 scoreless yards on 15 carries (2.8 YPC) and breaking one measly tackle. Richardson is running out of chances, but we expect him to get one more.

How long is Spiller out?
They have Ingram, Spiller, Robinson, Murphy, Hightower.

If they keep 3, would they actually cut Khiry Robinson?
Can't imagine they would.

That's been my point all along though. There are going to be a bunch of decent backs available soon if we have any interest.

Nothing concrete to report on Spiller but with him most likely a multi week injury. I would be shocked if they cut Robinson. I think they keep four though because of Spiller. We will know soon.

Say no to CM...he is a bust...

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent RB Fred Jackson will meet with the Seahawks on Tuesday.

Rapoport said both sides expect a deal to get done. Cut by the Bills on Monday, Jackson would provide a veteran presence behind starter Marshawn Lynch, his former teammate in Buffalo and a player with whom he is reportedly close. Bringing in Jackson could signal the end of the line for Christine Michael.
