Preach It Tony

Speaking of them, it would be nice to beat them this year. I can't remember the last time the 'boys beating the Saints in the regular season. As awful as the Saints used to be, they always seem to beat the Cowboys.

Should be a good game.

The way this defense is playing, I am not sure if they can get the job done.

The game is in December, so you know what that means :p: .

I'm not really sure the defense has been playing all that bad

they did their job, IMO, against Denver

the offense has been consistently putting them in positions to have to become Doomsday II and well, there was only one Doomsday...

Man, if Romo goes back to playing like Jedi-Romo, can you imagine the shootout on the field?

We might as well get ready to set up some official defense sux threads in advance. If Romo's on his game and Brees plays like he did in his first two games, both defenses will have tire tracks on their backs.

I think alot of people have given up on the Cowboys :( .

I have a hard time remembering when Dallas fans were more blood-thirsty than they are right now. In fact, I can't think of a single person affiliated with this organization who hasn't been blamed by somebody for these last couple of losses.

But I think everyone just needs to take a deep breath.

I don't think this team is that bad. They gave away the Giants game with one of the worst defensive secondary performances that I have ever seen. Of course, they also turned the ball over 4 more times than the Giants. And they lost by a field goal. They shouldn't have lost at all, clearly. But they showed what a tough team they are.

I was always worried about the Broncos game. Dallas was going on the road to a tough place to play on a short week after MNF. The Broncos are a lot better than most people realized, and they were fired up to prove how real they are. And it took a spectacular play from Brandon Marshall and more offensive ineptitude to lose that game.

I just don't think this team is that bad. Now, I don't know exactly how good they are either just yet. But I think people are overreacting.

Your QB is one of the best in this league; I really believe that. I think he's been brilliant twice in four games, and I also believe that the two bad games werent as bad as some think. The Broncos had pressure all him all day long, and I haven't heard many people mention how Romo was sacked more in that game than he ever has been in his career. Give them some credit instead of just giving the QB all the blame! The Giants game was just kind of fluky, and no one held up their end of the bargain in that game...

The running game has looked very good. The O-line has been good until the Broncos destroyed them. The defense is getting better.

I just think this team needs to finish. The defense has to make big stops consistently, and the offense can't shoot so many of their toes that they can't stand...

But this is not an 0-4 team. They haven't been good enough to be 4-0 either. They are somewhere in the middle after four games, which is exactly what we see. But there is a lot of season left...

If a lot of "fans" want to stop watching the team, you have my permission. it might make talking football a little easier around here.

No one, not ONE person on this board is blindly supporting this team. I almost wish I could find a homerized thread. Might give me a chuckle.

Most people can recognize that this team needs to play better.

Illogical is having to read Tony sucks, Wade sucks, Garrett sucks, in EVERY thread.

Another illogical thing I see a lot is the criticism of Tony coming from both ends. If he hangs his head he's taking losing too hard and isn't a leader, if he's philosophical in pressers he doesn't care enough about losing and isn't a leader.

We are 2-2 and have losses to teams that are undefeated.

Yeah, they have not played as well as they should but I wouldn't call it "terrible".

We've played pretty terrible.

This team is good at talking.

I agree with Tony but its all talk.

LEts get this thing back to 3-2 and get a big win vs the Falcons in a few weeks.

after the loss to the Giants in '07 (playoffs) due to dropped passes and generally killing ourselves rather than getting beat, we were going to "improve"

after doing a disservice to themselves and the Cowboys before them in closing out Texas Stadium, we were going to "improve"

after completely embarassing themselves the following game against Philly, 44-6 and missing out on the playoffs, we were going to "improve"

here we are, 2-2, simply because we've once (twice) again killed ourselves and wait for it..... failed to "improve"

but we're going to "improve"... someday

Ok. You bring up a very good point.

After that game I said to myself and on here that I hope that wasnt the turning point in our history(and for the Giants) and so far it has been.

We have been struggling and suffering instead of thriving. It catapulted the Giants to eventual SB win. The Giants look like they have a good team with those young WR's and all in all have it together more than we do.

I'm fully aware of what poor route running does.

I haven't seen it though. Perhaps I'm not looking closely enough.

But our receivers have been open a decent amount this year. Romo just has to hit 'em.

You are right , TO was supposed to be a poor route runner , but somehow Tony was able to get him the ball.

Tony has to realise that he can throw to possesion receivers even without too much sepration , just place the ball where your guy can only get it.

Sure.

That is, if you bought into the Superbowl or Bust hype and don't like a majority of the players, coaches and the GM.

The reality is that the Cowboys haven't played well, but they haven't been outright terrible either.

Especially, if Denver and New York continue to have success throughout the course of the Season.

The Cowboys are a middle of the road team. It can be argued that we have lost to everyone we were supposed to and beaten everyone we were suppose to have beaten.

Alot of the recent criticism of Romo centered around the notion that he'd lost some confidence. After seeing this recent interview it's obvious that this is not the case. He's trying to change his game a little and protect the football which is what everyone wanted. It's affected his style a little and I think that he'll grow out of this just like he said in the interview. "It's a process."

Garrett is also learning his game. It's just what goes along with his only being an OC for a short time. He's getting better in the fact that he has learned to rely alot more on the running game than in previous years. Even with Barber and Felix out he didn't give up on Tashard's ability until the end of the game. Then his QB petigree showed up again and he didn't punch Tashard in there behind BIG and Columbo. It's a process for him too. This has bitten him in the behind and he'll learn.

I think things will improve. Our QB and OC have the ability and the confidence.

EVERY team the cowboys play will bring their A game. So it's never going to be easy. Even this sunday is going to be a MAJOR struggle in KC. That's why we love them. They are THE team to beat. I really think it'll get better. The defense has already improved. I liked the interview because Romo looked like he believes it too. Better to screw up now and adjust and be better in December when it counts.

The problem is HOW they are running their routes. Laufenberg said that our recevers cannot get any seperation and they run their routes poorly.

For example, if the play is a 10 yard comeback, then the WR has to sell the deep route by running full speed and then plant that outside foot and turn hard back to the inside and sheild the defender with his body. What our guys are doing is just running lacklusterly and just rounding off that comeback and allowing the DB a chance to reach around them or go infront of them for the pass defense.

It is called effort.......it takes more effort to run a nice, crisp route an being in the best position to catch the ball. What we have here is WRs going through the motions.

So how does this affect the QB??? If the WRs are lazy in their route running or cannot get any seperation, then it is easier for them to be covered. All of a sudden the windows get tighter to throw to or the QB has to hold the ball longer waiting for the WRs to get open which causes more sacks and pressures.
But according to Babe. TO wasn't running his routes properly and that is why they sucked. So how many excuses is he going to make for Garrett? He is the coach, whose suppose to coach his players...

i really like romo

and despite his poor play im still behind him. i havent lost confidence in him.

i still see this guy being here for a while, winning numerous playoff games with us, even a superbowl

its not tony that worries me its jason garrett.

the sad part is for now their stuck with each other so romo's upside is limited

i can only hope that jason learns from each passing mistake and can finally string together consistent game plans and learn to adjust when said plan doesnt work.

its happened before where offenses and defenses have gotten hot and turned things around. nothing new in the nfl but i just have little faith that jason can make that turn around

hopefully for romo and the sake of this team he can. if not romo and this team should be able to realize their potential next season hopefully if jason is shown the door.

I agree with your post here a 100%. I would also like to add that maybe we are lacking some at WR. Not that I want that other guy back because I don't, he needed to go no matter what happens, but we should look to upgrade there I think. If we are not going to upgrade, then start bring in Ogletree on occasion and stir things up a bit.

This could be all on Garrett as I think his abilities as a OC is questionable, but I would not mind to see us make some knd of trade if need be for WR.

Reporter: "You're sort of off to an under achieving start this year."

Tony: "Well, I don't go by what you guys go by. Obviously there are things I want to do better, and I think there are things that this team wants to do better, and I think we will going forward, but the only way to do that is to go out and take care of business today. It doesn't matter, we could sit here and talk about it, and I could tell you guys all this junk, but if we don't go out and do it on the football field today, and tomorrow, and the next day, we won't be able to do it on Sundays."

Reporter: "But there's no sense of being surprised or disappointed in your own play after 4 games?"

Tony: "Well, if you think it's going to be 16 games of perfect and that we're going to throw 3 touchdown passes every game and everything's going to happen, then you're kidding yourself you know. I don't think that's the case. I heard Jack Nicklaus say once, 'if I bogey the first 2 holes it sucks, but I got my quota out of the way. Now it's time to go and do what I do in the next 16 holes.' Part of that is the football mentality, you lose a game or two okay. Sometimes it happens at different times, but now it's time to improve, go forward and win. And that's what we're going to do."

Talk is cheap. Let your actions speak louder than your mouth Tony...
