First i didnt say anybody said that we were sorry. Secondour rookies gel in TC, in preseason, it isnt like this is a egotistcal team(sounds like your team who loves to hold out) so it ownt take time for everybody to feel good around each other.

Ok, sounds like I was too hasty in my interpretation of what you said ..."and we're not sorry anymore..." You were probably being sarcastic and I didn't pick up on it:eek:: ...oops!

You're right though, my team does have a few key holdouts. But that's not too uncommon, it's happening all over the NFL -- we're just more cognizant of the holdouts in our division (but is a "mini-camp" holdout really that serious?
Think I'll start a ne thread on the importance of mini-camp holdouts -- appreciate you giving me the idea).

Second your implication of us being 8-8 implies that we arent as good.

You exposed me on that one! But consider the source; I'm an Eagles fan and I'm basing my prediction on your team's performance in the last two years. I told you...I agree that you have improved this year after draft selections/FA signings. But they have to have the right gel. I'll assume that Bledsoe will replace Vinnie as your primary QB -- that's got to be a major step In the right direction -- but is the protection established?

Look, it's only my opinion -- we're all guessing. Honestly wish you well in 2005. Good hunting (except when you play the Eagles!);)

That depends on your Interpretation of "big game." Big games could be rivalry games (e.g., Coboltz only beat the Eagles once in five seasons). Wild cards games could also be considered "the big game." However, the "Big Game" by most NFL fan standards is the Super Bowl - would you not agree? If you agree, with most people on this view, then your comment is wrong.

The Eagles only had one opportunity in the "big game (aka: Superbowl game); and that was Superbowl XXXIX. In 2001 - 2004, we lost the NFC division games; the Eagles won the NFC Championship in 2004.

Now this year could prove to be different

If I were a numbers person (as you seem to be), I could say that the Cowboltz haven't even been to a championship game in 5 years plus -- but I won't; besides, who's couning:rolleyes: Coupled with the fact that we don't come close to your dynasty!

So, you've nailed us! But we hope to change those numbers:)

Good hunting in 2005 -- we'll be waiting.

I've been watching america's team for 30 years now. Except for a few years sprinkled here and there, our defense has always been our strong point. The last 5 years or so, our defense has kept us in soooooooo many games only to watch our pathetic offense go three and out, three and out. We get in the red zone, call a bunch of stupid, pathetic plays, then kick a stupid field goal. I feel this year we are goin to ram that ball down our opponents throats and in to the end zone, not rely on a stupid fg.

we go 13-3 and play the steelers or colts in the superbowl.

dallas goes 11-5 in the regular season.

the defense is struggling to find an identity. the offense opens with a flourish, but they lose the season opener in a highscoring squeaker @ SD. then they pound WASH, (@)SF, (@)OAK <shut down moss>, and then lose a tough homegame to PHI. they split the next two - pounding NYG and losing to (@)SEA. they beat a resurgent ARZ at home and hit the bye.

second half the Defense starts to come together, the running game really kicks in, and dallas begins to play serious "powerball". they open with a close road loss @PHI <McNabb knocked out in 2nd half - but Eagles D saves them>. and then go on a 5-game win streak obliterating DET, DEN, (@)NYG, and (@)WASH. they drop a blowout road game to CAR. then take it out on STL at Texas Stadium to finish 11-5 and qualify for the wildcard round of the playoffs.

they draw a roadgame in SEA (who won a very weak NFC West) in the wildcard round - and beat them soundly in the rematch.

then they edge PHI on the road in the divisional round (beating a resurgent Cowboys team 3 times in the same season - proves too tall an order for the once-dominant Eagles).

finally, Dallas loses a tough battle to CAR in the NFC championship game. but all are encouraged about 2006 season (when we get to, and win, the superbowl).

now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

picked 14-2 because I thought I was going to be the only one who would pick it. But really, I'm thinking 10-6.

I was thinking 10-6, but I figured if I'm going to be optimistic, I might as well go 11-5, and go for the home field in the first playoff game.

I agree that we will know more about the offense and the defense after game 3.

I went 10-6. These are the key games that could swing the season IMO.

Week 1 @ San Diego. Tough to say that the first game of the season could swing the season, but playing on the road, against a playoff team, a victory here will definitely help build confidence amongst the younger players.

Weeks 5 & 10 games home & away games vs Philly. These games will help give us an indication just how much Dallas has closed the gap in the NFC East.

Week 7 @ Seattle. We traveled to Seattle last year, I don't understand the schedule makers. Why don't we get the home game this year? Anyways, Seattle will be out to revenge last season's tough home loss.

Week 14 vs Kansas City. Normally one of the league's highest scoring teams, just like our Cowboys, Kansas City will be much improved in 2005. This will be a test for our defense, especially on some of the young guys because by this time the season will really be wearing on them.

Week 16 @ Carolina. This team barely missed the playoffs last season thanks to a 1-7 start and injuries that should have decimated the team. Many NFC teams were relieved when they didn't make the playoffs because they could have easily been the first 8-8 team to ever make the superbowl. This will be a very tough game and could the loser may have to stay home for the playoffs.

Those to me will be our toughest games this season. Sure we have toughs one against Denver (on Thanksgiving) and St. Louis (New Year's) and you can throw out records when Dallas & Washington play because it is always a battle. It's those 6 games though I listed above that IMO will make or break us and really show us how good this team is.

11-5 for me, too...

I think the offense will be better than most expect, and the defense may be MUCH better than most expect. Can't wait for September!

I voted 10-6. So close to voting 11-5.

Truth is we could end up anywhere from 7-9 to 12-4 (guesstimating).

The key positions on our team are still question marks.

QB: Bledsoe. Should be about as good as Vinny, but if the D plays better this year he won't have to play from behind as often.

RT: Bledsoe needs lots of time to be effective. If our RT position weren't a question mark I'd feel a lot better about the QB position. If Tucker (most likely) improves and plays solid then I think the QB position will be fine.

DE/OLB: We still don't know how our pass rush will be this year. SUre we upgraded the CBs, but if our pass rush isn't there it won't matter who's covering. Ware, whether you like it or not, is a huge question mark. Loads of potential, but he didn't exactly light up the college ranks and he didn't play against great competition (for the most part).

Also, we aren't even sure what our Base D is gonna be and/or what our starters will be and/or what our rotation will look like. Will Spears start at DE if our base is a 4-3? He'll have to play LE which means Ellis goes to RE. But Ellis didn't feel comfortable at RE during training camp last year. And Ellis isn't exactly a world class pass rusher anyway. Who will start on the DL in a 3-4? Just cuz Spears is big doesn't mean he'll be ready to start right away. And Ellis isn't big/strong enough to play DE full time in a 3-4. I'm pretty sure Glover can handle the other DE spot in a 3-4, and rotate in at NG at times. What about our LBs in the 3-4? The only one we're sure will start is Dat Nguyen. Ware is learning a new position and it could take him time to break the starting lineup. James sucked last year. Singleton isn't your ideal size for a 3-4 LB. And the others aren't proven. Big question marks there. We can all "hope" for one thing, but that won't make it a reality.

Anyway, Now that I'm thinking about it, I should of voted 9-7.
