That is way too much.

QB contracts these days are either make them the highest paid guy or let them walk. There’s very little in between.
I was hearing on the radio this morning that maybe the QB contracts could go the way of recent running back contracts. I think something has to be done because the way things are going, QBs will be taking almost 50% of teams salary cap in future years.

Something will eventually be done for quarterback compensation but I highly doubt the same will happen to the position as it has with running backs. Quarterbacks remain a necessity in today's offenses. Running backs, or quality of running backs to be specific, have evolved into a luxury. It's apples and oranges.

So. You understand Prescott will not get benched and will get a contract extension, yes?
Because Jerry didn’t have the guts to do what Denver is doing?

Yes.

You realize Wilson has thrown for over 3,000 yards, 26 TDs, and only 8 INTS, right? Also ran for another 300 and 3 TDs.

That’s a whooping 5 less total TDs than Dak this year.

Let’s not pretend Dak is this superior player to Wilson and therefore untouchable.

Where are you getting that information? They can convert his salary to a bonus thus lowering the cap hit for 2024. Can even do that for 2025. Add in a couple of void years and there will be a lot of cap flexibility.
The only thing that can be restructured is his $29 million salary next year. The best you can do is convert it to bonus and divide by five, pus any prorated new money.

Once again, you have made the mistake of putting your brain inside Jerry Jones' head.

It’s gonna be funny watching Mayfield dog walk him in the Wild Card round and then he signs this ridiculous extension.
We all know you're probably hoping for this to happen in order to justify yourself and feel better about your takes against him. But will probably also move the goalposts to Baker Mayfield not being a good QB or Tampa not being that impressive of a team if the Cowboys beat Tampa in the playoffs.

If Prescot ever wants to earn a ring in Dallas, then he needs Tom Brady as his agent. Brady will get him a decent contract and at the same time will leave enough money on the table for the championship pieces that will be needed to get that ring and a SB trophy. Brady didn't suck NE 's cap space dry and it paid off big time for him. Otherwise, he'll just go down as just another money-grubbing greedy slap dick like Kurt Cousin and we all know how Cousin's career has turned out.............
So, what would you do with the ten million he gives up in a hometown discount?

Oh, you mean why doesn’t he sign for half what the market demands?

If Dak were under contract for 5 years 150m, people would still say it’s too much.

Unless and until we have a QB on a rookie deal, preferably one drafted on day 3, there will be people here at the Zone howling for a new QB.
