Pro Bowl Defensive Line

I'm guess he would not stay he was unwilling and neck and shoulder injuries can and have been career threatening and he had the same issue for a while. I'm glad Ware is doing good, I felt it was time for change and hard to make change with him eating up a large portion of the cap on defense and production was not matching. Right now my focus really is on who we have now and to add to what we have. These guys are playing hard ball they are making the plays and in critical situation they are making the stops without Ware. Dallas will survive and Dallas will add to rebuild this defense.

It was all the badmouthing of Ware that gets me. I really believe that Dallas should have worked harder to keep Ware and built around him. I hate that we discard our HOFers at all, but while they are still at or just after their peak just grates me to no end. Loyalty works both ways.

But I agree, Ware is no longer part of this team and am enjoying their amazing journey right now. But it would have been sweeter than sweet if all three could hoist the Lombardi together (Romo, Witten, Ware).

As I said I like him and yes wish we had him, I understood the reasoning he is not here. I did not blame Ware and I don't blame Dallas they both did what was in their interest and said that the day Ware checked out. I understand about losing HOF, I did not like see Tony Dorsett in Denver and did not like seeing Emmitt in Arz. that is the business side of the NFL

They are your stats and you are still making yourself look foolish. Ware was injured in 2011, 2012 and 2013. But even injured, he was putting up pro bowl numbers until last season when he battled not one, not two, but 3 different injuries. Are you delusional? Who can produce HOF numbers (and that is exactly what the haters are demanding, how else does ANYONE disparage NINETEEN or even 11 sacks????) in that kind of shape, the fact that he played while in that condition showed more than just loyalty but the quality of the individual. For all the "Ware is soft" wannabes out there, I would love to see any of you go to WORK with a neck stinger, quadriceps or a back injury, let alone all three at the same time.

How does a guy who hates so many great Cowboys call himself a Cowboys fan???

Yeah... looks like you again failed to acknowledge the fact that he would fade in the second half of years...

DeMarcus Ware 2013 splits

Ware had 6 total sacks in 2013. 4 of which came in September...

The entire year he had two 2nd half sacks...and only 1 on the 4th quarter.

2012 Splits

Ware had 11.5 sacks

He only had 2.5 sacks in the last half of the year.

2011 Splits

Ware had 19.5 sacks... but again faded half way through the year...

He had 12 sacks in the first half of the season and 7.5 in the second.

He only had 3.5 sacks on 3rd downs.

of course he wore down; look at the number of snaps he had versus other top pass rushers. You will find Ware played more. The team screwed him by not giving him more rest like the other top pass rushers in the NFL get

Ware should still be a Dallas Cowboy... I'm sorry but you don't let your best defensive player possibly ever go like that.

so 7.5 sacks in the final 8 games, isn't being successful?

Once again, I'm not blaming Ware.

I'm sick of hearing about ware . He didn't want too be here anymore forget that punk. Overrated we never won a thing with that softie .

This is why I think it's useless looking at his situation in Denver and wondering what could have been here.

Here, he'd be the "savior" on the line. Our one primary pass rusher, and fans would gripe whenever he's on the bench or showing signs of wearing down. In Denver, he gets plenty of rest on the bench (seriously, have you seen some of their line rotations?) and has a monster in Miller opposite him. He's a hired gun there, and they're willing to use him as one might anticipate a 32-year-old with an injury history should be used.

The situations aren't at all comparable in my opinion. It's a damn shame he's not here to finish out his career, but I think it's in the best interest of all parties. Denver has a Hall of Fame pass rusher, Ware is being used appropriately and for a great team, and our cap situation was relieved and prevented us from overcommitting to a lot of resources to a single, aging player with a history of injury.

+1

So if he gets 5 more sacks in the next 9 or 10 more games for the Broncos you're going to retract?

Coming off a game where he just added 3 more to the year I'm going to guess he's probably not going to have much trouble adding 5 more the rest of the way.

He's got 7 in 6 games. But he needs to really prove it by getting 5 more in 10 games.

Something like that.

They. Will. Say. Anything. To. Defend. This. Team.

Totally disagree. You do not let go of that kind of player until he's used up. He's the best pass rusher in the history of the team, the 2nd most prolific in the history of the league. There may be better situations for him elsewhere with teams who have NFL talent around him, but I wouldn't have given him the opportunity.

If I'm interested in cutting costs, I'm looking somewhere other than elite pass rusher.

I know what you mean, but I get the sense the organization had felt burned a bit by the way he faded away early in each of the last two seasons and, for a change, tried to be proactive in their handling of the matter. I didn't disagree then, and don't today.

In a vacuum, there's no way I'd ever let him go. But in a salary-cap era, with his age and injuries, and some of the expiring contracts we had coming up (Smith, Bryant), I didn't hate the move.

And I still heavily doubt the DeMarcus Ware we're seeing in Denver would be the DeMarcus Ware we'd be seeing here, for the previous reasons stated.

But look at the way they're using him. The rest he's getting. The support he's getting on the other side from Miller.

He'd never have gotten any of that here. It'd be all Ware, all the time. And when he inevitably faded, the fan base would have turned on him again.

Why wouldn't he be? People act like he's made a career out of disappearing. His last year in Dallas was the only season other than his rookie year where he failed to get double digit sacks.

Why would you expect the exception to his career rule? Doesn't make sense to me. That was a blemish. He's right back terrorizing QBs like he's done his entire career.

Do you know how hard it is to record 10 or more sacks in a season? People have taken this man for granted over the years.

DeMarcus Lawrence should be learning at the feet of Ware this year on how to be an NFL pass rusher. Instead he's being tutored by Jeremy Mincey and George Selvie.

Dale, he's not doing anything in Denver that he didn't spend his hall of fame career doing in Dallas.

I knew this was how it would turn out. First he was washed up. Then when you can't make that argument anymore, say it couldn't have happened here. When it gets real bad, quit living in the past. Go Cowboys.
