I don't think we should cut Johnson, but glad w/ the reports about Baker

If ROMO gets injured we are history for 07. Johnson cannot get the ball deep and the above report cut from another Zoners post just VERIFIES what I said when we signed this player.
Why cut one of the YOUNG GUNS just to keep this OLD over-the-hill guy?:starspin
GIVE ME SOME VALID REASONS WHY I AM WRONG!
Hostile;1528987 said:So you're saying that if Romo were to get injured you would rather go with More or Baker over Johnson and we'd be just fine?
By all means, justify this for me.
Johnson finished 2006 with just nine passing touchdowns and 15 interceptions, completing 270-of-439 passes for 2,750 yards and added 82 rush yards and a rushing touchdown.
Is Johnson better than Moore and Baker? Just tell me that. Because your whole premise is built upon Romo going down. If he goes down we want the best option to take over. I say that is Johnson and not Baker or Moore.CrazyCowboy;1529033 said:Hos,
Johnson is old.
He cannot move any better then Bledsoe.
If ROMO gets hurt.....we DO NOT make the playoffs with Johnson, (as the defenses will blitz and play tight coverage on our WR's and dare us to throw deep.....which he cannot do anymore.
Why not give the young QB's more practice reps and develop someone who COULD become a weapon?

JustSayNotoTO;1529044 said:Johnson is a capable player. If Romo goes down, Johnson could drive the bus if the defense finally plays like its capable of playing.

NextGenBoys;1529031 said:The reason is defense wins championships. If Romo is out for the season, then yeah we are done for. Thats a given. But if he is out for anything less than 5-6 weeks, we can hold our own I believe. We will just play some conservative offense (we have to be pretty accustomed to that by now) and let our defense win the games for us. A strong running game and great defense is the key anyhow. Those two aspects of the game are just going to have to step it up a notch. That fossil Johnson will be able to drive the bus enough to get to a gas station, then we can fill 'er up and hand the team back over to Romo.

Tell me I am wrong. Then be prepared to back it up.
CrazyCowboy;1529053 said:Experience only, I feel you are correct with Johnson.
Hos, I am concerned with his age, speed, and declining arm strength and this is the time of year to discuss it and take appropriate action......maybe Mr. Jones will read this post or someone will tell him ;-)
I maybe wrong, but I just feel the DALLAS COWBOYS can find a better option for a potential Super Bowl talented squad then Mr. Brad Johnson to backup Moxie ROMO!
dalboy;1529050 said:because if the starter gets hurt the team is most likely history. just think if tom brady or peyton manning gets hurt its over there has only been a couple of situation when there not.
1. the cowboy back-up when roger got hurt in the thanksgiving game vs. the reds
2. jeff garcia last year.
well those are the only ones I can think of.
CrazyCowboy;1529056 said:JEFF GARCIA? I would do a back flip if we had signed him! :starspin
dargonking999;1529039 said:So you think because baker, and Moore have shown some good skills in underwear, that they are ready to put on the pads, and play in a REAL game?
Give me a break. You think putting a rookie is gonna stop the blitzes? You think a rookie is gonna be ready for the pressure of a NFL game? Johnson has been in this league long enough to come in and play a few games ( winning record when Culepepper whet down two years ago)
Basing this whole thought, on his performance when asked to start and play an entire season, is quite pointless, because he's here to play in case of injury (as he did successfully in 2005)
You need to stick to the one liners man.
JustSayNotoTO;1529058 said:And you are concerned about weak arm strength?
I am no fan of Brad Johnson. However, he is our best insurance policy at this point should something happen to Romo. There is too much at stake to tank a season if Romo goes down and throw Moore or Baker to the wolves.CrazyCowboy;1529053 said:Experience only, I feel you are correct with Johnson.
