Just a reminder..the Rams had to bring in like 5 top FA's for it to work...do you see this FO doing that?
Right they went all in and I don't even understand that concept that fans don't understand here that he couldn't win in Detroit without a lot of help and our team right now doesn't have a strong run game or a strong defense to be carrying a quarterback.. If we're truly Super Bowl ready then we should have no problem this year at least getting to an NFC championship game if our team strong enough to try to carry that list but I am not trading draft picks for any of those guys I mean if you're gonna seek resources into your team you might as well do it & Prescott...

The list is an example of a way too soon recommendations we don't know who on that list is available unless they're cut out right I'm not bringing in guys that cost us draft picks we can roll with Trey Lance and go to the draft and go pick up a mid guy I mean I don't think Cooper rushes that guy but someone slightly better maybe Derek Carr even though in another reply I said I'm not interested if he's a full free agent I might bring him in here like we did Dalton and just have him be a bridge guy... But that list is just laughable I I don't even know how to react to it most of them are not even available if they are available they're gonna cost us not only draft picks but a higher salary....

Thanks for posting this .......I honestly believe THIS is a short-term answer until they find his replacement.
My List
  • Stafford..maybe
  • Cousins..........strong
  • Derrek Carr...strong
  • Justin Fields....interesting
  • Russell Wilson....strong
  • Geno Smith......dark horse
None of these guys will lead this team farther than Dak....so not interested...I would rather stink for a few years and try draft choices. We are trying to win SBs remember...these guys are doing it

Murray? sorry to me that's a step backwards. what has he done? they even had to put a clause in his contract for film study time..
Cousins? we complain about Dak. then replace him with Cousins who at best, at best is the same QB and about the same price...and older? why?
Tua? again, same thing. one hit away from retirement. hasn't accomplished much. just made it to post season with a LOADED team. so if everyone here complains about a QB carrying a team, then it will be a same issue with Tua and will be similar cost.
Sanders? its nostalgia. not sure how good he is. we have to wait out 25 NCAA season to see who emerges.

Stafford? people complained about Dak's interception. so what are they going to say about Stafford? he had a strong team. but showed he can then lead to superbowl and overcome his mistakes if he has the team around him. so is Cowboys as strong as Rams when they won the superbowl? if yes, then l am ok with Stafford.

Rodgers? 40+. coming off injury. hasn't won anything in 12 years. overall playoff record is 12-10, but he is 0-2 in the past 4 years. has the personality to lead the team, but at 40+ is he still capable.

unless we are a superbowl ready team, not sure if stafford and rodgers could lead us to championship.

Rodgers a sure HOFer. Stafford...hmmmm borderline? not sure.

and with that said, it doesn't solve our Jerry problem. is cowboys good enough for a superbowl? Not sure I buy that.

My take. Not that it means anything but I honestly believe that if Lance played qb all season we would most likely have one of the worse records in the nfl and then we could draft a qb in the first round. Again, that's just my opinion.
Right but you don't do that in 2024 with Prescott's cap hit you need to see if you can't finally get to an NFC championship game this year before you let Prescott walk and then yes if Lance does get a shot it would be for 2025 and you're right in 2026 we'd be picking in the top five... The problem is there aren't a lot of great prospects coming down the Pike the next two years even in the draft as we're discussing in another thread it is very bad time to try to replace your franchise quarterback and I believe the powers that be are probably going to see the writing on the wall and it already might happen right before training camp breaks for the regular season but Prescott's probably getting signed first then lamb if not this team will be blown up but in my opinion I think they know there are no game changing quarterbacks coming available that are better than Prescott in work trading draft picks for giving big money to just nothing it's going to be better than what Prescott can do in my opinion Prescott needs to be resigned...

Whether we. as fans, like it or not, the powers that be are intent upon giving Trey Lance the opportunity to become our potential QB, whether it's as a backup or a starter. Obviously, many, if not most, of us would like to have a QB who's capable of being a long-term solution for this team, rather than one who's, perhaps not just that. In any event, our limited FO has seemingly decided to go through with the intention of giving Lance the opportunity that he's, somewhat desperately, trying to attain.

Let's not make him our enemy but rather, give a guy a chance to succeed, minus the prospect of attempting it, despite the negativity that prevails with some on this website. There's nothing wrong with assuming a positive attitude concerning this venture, folks! Fair is fair, after all is said and done.

If he fails, he fails but if he doesn't, maybe, just maybe, we can finally have a QB with a possibility of being a long-time solution to our woes. Is that too much to ask for an organization in our tenuous position? Let's try to make this thing work, if it's somehow possible. Lance isn't our enemy, by a long shot -- let's not make his job any more difficult that it already is. A little bit of positivity would help. Let's relax and help it along, if we can. ;)
That’s great, as long as there is a back up plan “If he fails”. I’m positive it makes sense to have a Plan B.

how in the world would you even consider cousins you would have to trade draft picks to get him they just signed into a new large deal and one year into that deal you're gonna take on his contract and the draft picks you would have to take to get him he's 100% off my list I'm not trading a single draft pick to bring a player over they're gonna have to be available if not you use those draft resources and you move up in the draft to get whoever might be available.
Cousins may not be as expensive as you think or require as much in a trade....
  • Keep in mind the Falcons drafted Michael Penix with their 1st round pick, which BTW ticked off Cousins
  • Take a peek at his contract.......it's basically a 2-year deal
  • His 2025 salary is guaranteed for $27M
  • It's not a reach to think they may wanna dump him and his 2025 salary for a pack of peanuts, with a 1st rounder sitting on deck
  • No, he isn't as good as Dak BUT for $27M vs $55M it's worth consideration. Also, it doesn't hurt he played for Zimm

Well, i mean, we are in that time of year where we will learn a lot about Trey Lance. He had the latter half of the season last year and this offseason to learn the offense. He was a high draft pick. I think he has ability. The question, what can he provide? Id imagine he's going to split reps with Rush for the backup job. I'm really going to be curious how he plays the preseason and training camp. Some of the things that I want to see from him are the following:

His poise under pressure, how he hits tight windows, his accuracy, and how he manages his mobility with his pocket presence. By his mobility with his pocket presence, I want to see if he can stand in the pocket and deliver the ball in when he sees the open receiver over pulling it down at the first sign of trouble.

He also has youth on his side and can run when it's needed.

Yeah, that's pretty much my plan, anybody who understands the game and what you're watching knows Dak isn't going to survive the playoffs EVER. So if Lance looks good in TC, continue to evaluate through pre season, if he looks good, give him a shot during the season, either he's the guy, or you're in position to draft THE GUY in 2025.
We are not challenging for the Super Bowl this year, so it's a perfect time to solidify the team for the future. Including players and coaches.
Lance will be a pre-season hero, they will make sure of it.

Exactly BF, why should Lance shining during PS games be anything other than a major positive.
