This year would have been the year to trade up in the 1st round with so many QB’s ( 5 wasn’t it ?) .

And then this definitely is Prescotts last season. Who knows, maybe he would have even agreed to a trade.

It’s why everything IMO still points towards our ownerships intention to resign him regardless if they get it done or not.
We picked up the 3rd pick in the 2021 draft for a 4th rounder. 8)

Denver picked up the 2nd pick in the 2021 draft plus a 7th round pick in 2025 for a 6th rounder. Zach Wilson is a significantly more accomplished college quarterback and has much more NFL experience as a starting quarterback. Lynch fleeced old man Jerry. The league should have disallowed the trade. They know Jerry Jones is incompetent.

I'm pretty sure the Cowboys' FO will do their best to escape the $60 million dollar club, but I'd have to say anything is possible. Trey Lance will get his chances to impress, although, I do believe Jerry & Son gave up that 4th round draft pick to give Dak 2nd thoughts about his demands. It's sure to make an interesting goings-on in training camp and the preseason games, though. Folks will be watching intensely with much interest, no doubt.

I would definitely take Wentz. I even thought about Danial Jones if he’s cut by the Giants. But yes I would take Wentz any day of the week over Lance. Wentz has got more starter experience. Just so my position is clear. I’m not married to the idea that Lance is the answer. I think Lance is a possible replacement for Dak but not the only replacement. If Dak leaves the tier of QBs I would prefer is a young or a bridge QB that is cheap and we can buy time while we draft a blue chip guy. So off the top of my head (in no specific order)
Fields, Jones, Wentz, Mac Jones, Flacco, Dobbs, Lance. These QBs could be had for cheap and have an outside chance of coming into their own. If not we’d be in a good draft spot to get a better guy.

What I don’t want is this tier of QB: Cousins, Carr, R. Wilson. Again in no particular order. I don’t want a guy that is on the downside of his career and will need 30-35 to sign. I don’t want a guy good enough to get us a mid round draft pick but not good enough to make the playoffs. If that makes sense.

But yes, definitely if Wentz is a FA and the price is good bring him in. I’d be excited about that.
I can't do Wentz. His confidence must be destroyed by now.

I'd add Jalen Hurts to that list.

The Eagles aren't like the Cowboys. If their season this year continues on like it ended last year, they won't twiddle their thumbs and waste a decade on a guy just to be good enough to make money like we do. If they determine Hurts peaked already, and is in a slow steady decline like Dak has been since his first 2 years, they'll ditch his tail and and and find someone they think can win another championship.

But they'll sell Hurts high...while he still has the stink of an MVP caliber season on him. They'll fleece some newb GM, or some senile old self urinating GM. Which is where WE come in. I hate to think what their GM would do to Jerruh and his idiot son Fredo in a mega trade, but visions of the movie Deliverence pop into my head

"SQUEEL BOY, SQUEEL! WEEEEEEEEER WEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"
Hurts can't keep up the pace of running in the NFL. He is already missing games because of his knees.

One
Good side about him is experience at a very low cost. But yeah I agree his confidence would blend some serious rehabilitation. Also he’s injury prone. But if Dak were to leave we could use a cheap veteran or a young guy with potential.

What Mahomes presents alone is the fact you’re never out of the game . And always have a shot. Kinda like the Staubach days.
Forget the rest, that's all you need to know. As has been mentioned by others, there is no way to create a Defense that's going to be impervious......which appears to be the case as Dak led offenses repeatedly come up short in those very scenario's. In play-off football, you play the best and so you dont get that arm-chair ride.....at some point you'll a comeback drive to win (if that's a TD, I cant see Dak's got that composure).

Youre twisting the debate AGAIN. We were discussing why certain fans ( @Chasing6 )have to denigrade Lance, (example being calling him Trance). If you read the comments about Lance, most of them are pointing out that (depending on Dak's future choices) Lance MAY get his shot in 2025......he's going to be a lot cheaper, will free up CAP space of improvements in other areas and MAY succeed....if not we get the Draft position to move on.
so he calls him trance. others call Dak dakypoo or whatever. childish if you ask me. and lance may get a shot in 2025. but he is a FA, and may choose to go somewhere else.

and I don't buy into this cap space thing. we have cap space this year? where is the DT we want to sign? or another CB or another OT? we had cap space last year and chose not to sign. we had cap space the year before that and chose to trade Cooper for peanuts.

cap can be manipulated. teams do it all the time. and its not about the cap space and all of a sudden we sign everyone off the street and turn into a superbowl champion. its about the man at the top not being capable of doing it. Just look at Philly and all the top 5 contracts they handed out and still under the cap. so this cap space stuff is just a pipe dream.

For once you've said something that I can agree with, it's childish. Indeed on both sides, however, Lance is still irrelevant and shouldn't even bother illiciting a response.

Seems you've moved back to your outright support of Dak.....problem with your Philly example you have is that it's based on their QB willing to take that long contract.....which is pretty much my standpoint on Dak.

None of these guys will lead this team farther than Dak....so not interested...I would rather stink for a few years and try draft choices. We are trying to win SBs remember...these guys are doing it
You dont know that.
From a single game to A super bowl win is a few seconds, a couple plays, a little luck....can mean all the difference in the world.

But i do agree....maybe if we suck a couple years, we can get luckier with some higher draft picks.
Id rather do that than be stuck in eternal average / bounced out if playoffs purgatory.

When you say, “The kid is a phenom”….what do you mean? He hasn’t even taken a snap for us yet.
I think our man duncan has an agenda with lance in much the same way 3-5 do with dak.

I like hus enthusiasm for the kid "phenom". :)

Your vote was already cast in this discussion. I dont think ive read you ever contemplating moving on from Dak. In your world Jerry would just capitulate.
I my world we would have a GM that new what the hell he was doing.

I have not moved back to outright support.

Just because I don't trash him incessantly doesn't mean I am.supporting. that is the issue with those who hate dak, it's either you trash or else you must be a supporter.

I don't see any of them as options since they will all be FA

Time for us and Dak to move on from each other. Lance is a FA. If he does well, then he will cost a lot. If he doesn't, then he is cheap but nothing more than a bridge. Rush is not the answer.

I know.

That's why ibcould see them doing something with hum, regardless of contract. If they find a sucker to deal with.

Hmmmmmmm

Exactly...........I think that poster is trolling for laughs, I highly doubt he is being serious.

Lance has never taken a single snap for us, just like you said, and Shanny traded him for a day 3 pick and a bag of Doritos...........somebody would have to have the IQ of a 3 yr old to declare him a phenom.
