Question for the Patriots haters

No, this isn't my question of "If a first offense warrants a letter of reprimand, what should a 2nd offense get?" I've already asked that 1,000 times and no one answered. Rather, my question (that I'm sure no one will answer) is this:

If the league was investigating some sort of alleged malfeasance on the part of the Dallas Cowboys, how comfortable would y'all be if that investigation was spear-headed by a 20-year Washington Commanders executive with a history of professing how much he hates Jerry Jones and the Cowboys franchise?

Would y'all be comfortable with that? No, I didn't think so.

Pretty moronic to call the only 1st round draft pick punishment in NFL history a "slap on the wrist"
You didn't answer my first one, so why should I move on to my next one?

Oh wow, 1st round raft pick, for stealing signals for over seven years and who knows what else went on, all resolved in a 4 day investigation before even talking to Matt Walsh or looking at his tapes..

And I did answer your question, via sarcasm and rhetoric... Your trying to imply prejudice against the Patriots in this investigation, when everything points to favoritism for the Pats... It's absurd..

One Pick in one draft is a slap on the wrist especially a very late 1st round pick which in essence is an early 2nd round pick. Teams every year bomb on 1st rounder and usually can get past it. Why they have 6 other picks to cover up for it.

They consistently cheated over a seven year period, harming the integrity of the league. A proper penalty would have been seven first round picks, not one and a middling fine. The Cowboys and Commanders were both slapped with cap penalties in excess of 30 million for effectively not colluding with the rest of the league. Gimme a break with this garbage, the Pats have set a precedent of cheating to win and if Goddell had any integrity himself he would hit them tremendously hard this time, of course he will not.

I don't know what you're comparing when it comes to the hypothetical of a 20-year Skins exec that has professed a hatred for the Cowboys.

Is there some sort of investigation done by a Jets or Bills or Dolphins former exec that has professed a hatred for the Patriots?

Either way, yes...it would be a conflict of interest. It doesn't mean that an investigation isn't needed. Just find somebody else that doesn't have a conflict of interest to conduct the investigation.

As far as the 1st round pick that they lost goes, stating that it was unprecedented and therefore a 'harsh' crime doesn't apply.

Why?

Because their act was unprecedented.

Unprecedented illegal acts call for unprecedented punishment. But an unprecedented punishment doesn't necessarily mean that it fit the crime.

I personally don't think it fit the crime because they got 3 Super Bowl trophies out of the deal. But more importantly, it sends the wrong message....that if you cheat severely enough we'll just take away a first round pick from you. And if an organization has the choice between winning a Super Bowl and losing a 1st round pick versus not winning a Super Bowl but having their 1st round pick....it's obvious what each organization will take. But, some organizations want to win and keep their integrity in tact. Others don't.

Of course it was a slap on the wrist. The NFL is notorious for giving out very minor penalties. When the Timberwolves were caught violating the salary cap, they lost five 1st-round choices. When the 49ers were caught violating the salary cap, they lost a 3 and a 5. The NFL specializes in slaps on the wrist.

I have no hate for the Pats, I have used them as examples of building a team I have given players on that team and coaches a lot of praise over the years for the job they have done. However cheating is cheating hate has nothing to do with it. There are rules and the Pats broke them, they are not above the rules and I hope the league comes down hard on them because there is no room for cheating

Hi rogah.

Why are you fixated on the idea that people who want a proper punishment for Pats are Pats haters? I for one want the harshest punishment possible for Pats if they are found guilty but I don't hate Pats. In fact, they were the one team I liked in AFC. I am seriously disappointed to see what I am seeing now. I admired Brady and I admired Bellichick. I always rooted for Pats against Ravens, Colts or Broncos. Check my old posts. You will see how much I respected Pats.

That said, as a football fan I am disappointed. I spend significant amount of money for this league. I take my kids to games, I buy merchandise, I take time out of my life and watch the games in the stadium or on TV. As a paying customer, I want a fair product on the field.

So tell me, if they are found guilty, what is a proper punishment in your eyes?

I would like to respond as a Patriot lover, not hater. We all know this is blown out of proportion. It is OK, I am used to it. Every week it is something. And it will not change the loyalty Pats fans have. I live in Florida now, and there are so many Pats fans you cannot count them. Against the Hawks, if we win which I put the odds at 50/50, then it will be something like the Patriot players had their nails so long we could not see. It truly would not surprise me.

There was a time when your team was hated for winning. How dumb is that??? As a true fan of football I never joined that group. We have not won a SB since 2005. That is 10 years ago. And I hope our players are as angry as me and win. I am just so sick of this nonsense. Go kick some butt guys.

As Belichick said I have learned more about football balls in the last week than I have had in the last 40 years. First thought for me was why doesn't the NFL put the balls out for play, not the teams. That really surprised me. What are they so cheap they cannot pay for them??? Bottom line all QB's say yes those feel good, and do you honestly think that does not happen with all teams?? But hey, it is the Patriots. We have not won a SB in 10 years, get over it. I do not think there is a more important SB that we win than this one, and our players are just as angry as me.

I cannot change the loss you had, bitter one. But the Pats had nothing to do with your loss. Maybe someone can figure out how to blame us. Tiresome to say the least. I hope the league smartens up and realizes this is all becoming rather ridiculous. Simple solution, the league, not the team gives the ball to the teams. But one thing I do know, Belichick had no knowledge of this and Brady said to the equipment people, yea this feels right. But if I read what I did, the balls are checked before the game starts. Weather, I do not know. But Brady is a good and honest man. And many people are jealous of him because of the life he has -- again I say that is just pure "green with envy" and get a life.

I wouldn't be comfortable with it.

But that's doesn't mean I'd expect any the obvious advantage gained by having deflated footballs for my team to be overlooked, either.

Oh, stop playing the victim card. We don't 'all know this has been blown out of proportion.' You guys have a history, and now probably a pattern, of cheating to win football games, and that extends to and includes your championships. There's such a thing as 'tarnish' for a reason. As a Pats fan, you just get to deal with that.

Now, maybe it doesn't diminish your enjoyment of your team's accomplishments. I don't know. That's not my problem. But let's not pretend you guys are getting victimized for winning. You're getting a potentially (and relatively minor) consequence for cheating. Those two things are not the same.

As Belichick said I have learned more about football balls in the last week than I have had in the last 40 years.
He didn't learn enough apparently, because his impromptu tough guy conference explanations could be refuted by anybody that took a high school physics course and more uncomfortably ... by the football manufacturer themselves.

Bottom line all QB's say yes those feel good, and do you honestly think that does not happen with all teams.
Didn't happen with the Colts did it?

I don't think too many people have a problem with him, he has no better life than most top QB's, I just think that he looked like an unbelievable idiot (literally) at the podium last week, and the rest of the country, West of New Haven, thinks the same.

I have pretty much refrained from commenting on this topic but the buzz it has created is intriguing. One thing I have been curious about that maybe you can answer for me: Why are Pats fans on a Cowboys website defending their team? Are other team message boards not having the same general type of discussions? I honestly don't get it.
In regards to your Comments that you know BB had no knowledge of how the balls got deflated, how do you know this? And how do you know that Brady is a good and honest man? Do you know him personally? I'm not saying that any of your claim is untrue, because I don't know one way or the other. I'm just curious how Pats fans can tell everyone else to wait until the facts come out before jumping to conclusions (which is the right thing to do), but yet come up with their own set of facts/claims to defend their team/player/coach before the facts of the investigation are revealed.

People hate successful teams because they are jealous. When I was a kid I hated the 49ers. I didn't hate the Saints, the Lions or the Buccaneers.

I think that it is partially due to the fact that it's an echo chamber up here in NE where almost everybody supports the same view. I have lived in 4 other major NFL markets have never seen such a homogenous fanbase.

There is only single-minded outrage that Bill is being accused again, nobody to really argue with except on other team's message boards, I guess.
