Question for Those Who Feel Dak is All Stats No Substance

This debate is really simple. If you could put prime Tony or Dak with the exact same teammates against the exact same opponents, who do you think would perform the best \ give you the best chance to win?

For me, it's Tony without hesitation. I don't see any positive attribute that goes in Dak's favor.

There is no such thing as stats padding.
You play the game and the opponent on the schedule. You are behind so you must pass and never give up to try to come back. Therefore stats are accumulated.

So if a team is ahead and they keep running the ball to use clock. Why is that not considered stats padding for rushing yards.

Why are not all these yards considered team stat padding.
A team is passing to come back and you keep sacking the QB, is that Sack stat padding?

It is a made up term by fans that does not like a certain player. Period.
Amen. Why should any qb be looked down upon because the defense went into prevent mode and allowed a bunch of yards.

I guess it's the qbs fault when the nfc east is absolute dog poop too.

Qbs fault too when the defense plays historically bad too...

Yeah I know so many Dak threads and believe me I’ve complained about it as well, but I have a genuine question I feel like would help me parse through if posters are genuine or not in this criticism.

For those who argue Dak is an empty stats guy, which I am not arguing for or against at this point, do you/did you feel the same about Romo?

Both guys have had some gaudy regular season stats only to not advance past the divisional, some playoff games they played well and some they didn’t.

I also don’t think either had crazy roster advantages over the other either. Both played on some really high end rosters and both played on some below average ones. Both had good coaching staffs and bad.

Did you/do you feel the same about Romo as Dak? If so, where did you rank Romo in his time playing, top 7/10/14?
Did Romo ever win a conference championship? No.
Has he won a MVP? No.
So....

I wouldn't be that certain with either one of them.

Someone gotta break down stat padding for me

because if youre down 35-21 in the 4th and you start throwing the ball like crazy because you need points then thats not stat padding, but i see people calling it stat padding

my understanding of stat padding is when the game is well out of reach and youre throwing against prevent defenses who dont care aslong as you throw in the middle and waste time

Dak is currently 10th in winning percentage vs winning teams.

Interestingly, Mahomes is first but only played 16 games vs winning teams in 69 career games. In contrast, Dak has played 42 in 86 games.

I think we are seeing the discrepancy.

Oh and guys like Watson and Carr....guys routinely spouted as being WAY BETTER than Dak, have 26% and 23% winning percentages vs winning teams (Dak 42%).

Dak is 18 - 24 against teams above 500. 1 playoff win in 7 years.

It's not elite, it's pedestrian.

If that's good enough for you, great.

Romo had Jason Garrett actually calling plays. Dak never had Garrett calling plays, but Daniel Jones did and you saw how awful that went.

Just to be clear I like Dak, just like I liked Romo.

He is our version of Kurt Cousins. Good guy, good QB. Good just doesn't win Superbowls in this modern league.

Dak= regular season stats guy and no playoff success

Romo= regular season stats guy and no playoff success

Both got large contract extensions that neither earned.

Dak seems to get his stats in spurts. Just like Romo. When Dak is bad he’s really bad. Just like Romo. What concerns me is how many games Dak goes with either zero TD’s or late scores after the game is out of reach, Last year in the 49er playoff game he had 1 TD in the first 3 quarters. Next game, season opener against Tampa, zero TD’s then gets hurt late. Next game, Detroit and so far zero TD’s in the first half.

This is just the current streak. There are several other examples throughout the years. It’s not rare.

I always thought we had a gunslingers chance no matter how bad the team was with Romo and he QB’d some realllly bad teams to records they had no business getting to. If the team isn’t great I feel like we have no chance with Dak

well now he is substance and also no stats so that is great i guess
